Let’s go on this journey together. The NFL season is a gift that will continue to give, but not without some stress. Week 1 is always an interesting feeling-out process as we try to truly figure out what we can expect on the field. Let’s be honest, though, even when we think we know, do we really? That doesn’t mean we can’t try and be profitable on a weekly basis.
Both the New York Giants and New York Jets have something to prove this season, so I’d expect them to come out of the gate firing. Now, let’s see how that translates into our Week 1 NFL Prop Plays on DraftKings.
What!? Your fantasy football league wasn’t hosted on Fantrax last season!? Once you see how Fantrax stacks up to the competition, we think you’ll be singing a different tune in the 2025 season.
Week 1 NFL Prop Plays (DraftKings)
Malik Nabers 15+ First Quarter Receiving Yards (+107) and/or Over 72.5 Receiving Yards (-114)
This year is it for Brian Daboll and the New York Giants. For that matter, the future of Russell Wilson’s career and his reputation are on the line as well. Both of their fates are intertwined, and steps are in place to ensure, at a minimum, respectability. A large part of that comes down to how Wilson connects with Malik Nabers. And that is going to be a clear focus entering the season. So far this summer, that chemistry appears to be very much in flight.
The Giants begin their season on the road facing the Washington Commanders, and a quick start is critical. New York doesn’t want to fall behind early, and that lies in the hands of Wilson and Nabers. I’d look for Wilson to establish the connection with Nabers as soon as possible on the first drive of the game. Whether that means a few quick passes or a deep ball, Nabers will be involved at the start.
In 15 games last year, with sub-standard (at best) quarterback play, Nabers caught 109 passes for 1,204 yards. That equates to 80.3 yards per game, which sends us past the over for Sunday. If we think Nabers can break the 15-yard mark in the first quarter, getting to 73 yards for the game isn’t that aggressive.
Wilson is a veteran quarterback who can make some solid downfield passes. Nabers showed he can make due with whoever is under center, and this year he gets an upgrade.
Breece Hall Over 2.5 Receptions (-135)
It really never ends for the New York Jets. With Alijah Vera-Tucker now out for the year and a rookie at right tackle, it could be a successful day for TJ Watt. That means Justin Fields could potentially be under duress and looking to get rid of the ball quickly.
The Jets are limited with receiving depth beyond Garrett Wilson, so that means they’ll have to look towards their running backs. That brings us to Hall, who was targeted 76 times in 16 games last year, turning it into 57 receptions. On average, Hall caught 3.6 passes per game and hit the under just six times. New York’s offense should be more refined this season, and I’d expect Fields to look Hall’s way multiple times in the passing game as he gets outside of the pocket. Hall, being the best receiving threat in the Jets’ backfield, also helps here.
Marvin Harrison Over 58.5 Receiving Yards (-114)
I haven’t made my affinity for Marvin Harrison Jr. a secret this offseason. The second-year wide receiver is looking to take the next step in 2025, and he gets a soft landing spot to begin the season. Arizona has a favorable matchup against the New Orleans Saints this week, and this is a soft number for Harrison.
Granted, he did average 52 yards per game last year, but Harrison is capable of more. The expectations were high after being drafted in the first round last year, and Harrison delivered with mixed results, with 885 yards and eight touchdowns. The chemistry and connection between Harrison and Kyler Murray have been on full display this summer. Beginning in Week 1, we will see the impact with a reasonable yardage number to hit.
