Week 1 was full of surprises, injuries, and a lot of disappointment. It’s never too late to turn your fantasy football season around by playing the waiver wire. While you make your bids on some of the top available players, don’t forget to shore up your DST slot by streaming the best defenses available.
Last week returned solid results, as three streamers tied for eighth on the week. Here are four more DST options to consider in Week 2, along with two defenses to stash.

Week 2 DST Streamers
Los Angeles Rams (at Tennessee Titans)
Fantrax Rostership: 45% (Other Platforms: 7% – 28%)
The Rams didn’t have a top defense last year, but they really started to heat up late. Part of that was the emergence of two rookies in the pass rush – Jared Verse and Braden Fiske. Verse won Defensive Rookie of the Year in 2024, finishing his debut campaign with 4.5 sacks, 2 pass deflections, and 2 forced fumbles. His PFF grade of 89.3 ranked 7th amongst Edge Rushers, and he started 2025 with a grade of 90.6. Los Angeles terrorized the Houston Texans in Week 1, sacking C.J. Stroud 3 times and forcing two turnovers.
Now facing 1st overall pick Cam Ward, expect another strong week from this unit. The Tennessee Titans struggled against a great Broncos defense. Ward was sacked a whopping 6 times and lost a fumble. There were a lot of issues that should get worked out from this Titans offense, like Calvin Ridley’s glaring drops, but it should still be a bloodbath out there.
I expect the Rams to be one of the more highly rostered Week 2 DST streamers after the first waiver wire run of the season, but they are a priority if they somehow slip through the cracks.
New England Patriots (at Miami Dolphins)
Fantrax Rostership: 38% (Other Platforms: 14% – 70%)Â
The Patriots had a middle-of-the-pack showing against the Raiders in Week 1. With low rostership once again projected, the Pats should be widely available in fantasy leagues.
Geno Smith moved the Raiders down the field with ease last week, but he was sacked 4 times and had a pass intercepted. Encouragingly, rookie RB Ashton Jeanty only managed 38 yards on 19 carries.
The Patriots head to Miami as underdogs in a game with an average projected point total – 45.5 at the time of writing. The Miami Dolphins are coming off of an embarrassing 33-8 loss to the Indianapolis Colts. Tua Tagovailoa turned the ball over 3 times and took 3 sacks while the team generated 211 yards of offense. It’s unlikely that Miami looks this bad every week, but there were major concerns heading into the season. Mike McDaniel may have lost control of his locker room.
This could be the tune-up game the hosts need, but it could also benefit the visitors. It’s hard to take too much away from a single week, but we can make some assumptions. Miami’s offense ranks 24th in DAVE, a stat combining DVOA and pre-season projections without weighing early games too much too early. The Dolphins can be an explosive offense at their best, but there were legitimate concerns heading into 2025. Add in a struggling offensive line that just lost James Daniels, and there is a lot to worry about. The New England Patriots look like solid DST streamers in Week 2, with a pretty high ceiling.
Dallas Cowboys (vs New York Giants)
Fantrax Rostership: 24% (Other Platforms: 5% – 7%)
The Cowboys looked good against the defending Super Bowl champion Eagles, losing 24-20 on the road. Dallas gets another divisional matchup, this time at home against the New York Giants. The Russell Wilson-led team fell 21-6 to the Washington Commanders and did not show a lot of promise. Wilson held onto the ball and was only sacked twice, but he was not efficient at all, completing 17 of 37 passes for 168 yards. Wilson added 44 yards on the ground, but the RB group only gained 30 yards on 15 rushes.
Dallas may not boast the strongest defense in the league, but sometimes you just need to find widely available DSTs with good matchups. The best teams will all be rostered, and this could be one of the few times you can utilize Dallas with some confidence. Russell Wilson once again expects to start, but the team may see the return of star OL Andrew Thomas. It’s unlikely that Thomas alone can fix the offensive woes, though.
Atlanta Falcons (at Minnesota Vikings)
Fantrax Rostership: 23% (Other Platforms: 0% – 1%)Â
J.J. McCarthy expectedly struggled in his first start. I don’t think this is an offense that can be targeted the same way that the Browns, Saints, and Giants will be, but early-season woes could continue. Jordan Addison is still suspended, and the processing by McCarthy was extremely suspect against Chicago in the first half. We saw immense improvements by Minnesota as the game went on, so Atlanta is not a high-end start, but they do offer desperation or deep league streamer potential.
The Falcons’ defense is not at the same level as the Bears’, but they did look good despite a loss to the Buccaneers. There were no turnovers, there was only 1 sack, but the young Falcons defense really did their best to keep Tampa at bay outside of the final game-winning (or losing, depending on your perspective) drive. Two of Tampa’s three TDs came from giving the visiting Bucs great field position. The Falcons turned the ball over on downs in the middle of the 2nd quarter, giving Tampa Bay the ball on their own 47. Early in the 3rd quarter, the Falcons punted after a quick and unsuccessful drive, but allowed a 54-yard punt return, giving their opponents possession on the Atlanta 32-yard line. The Vikings boast a great defense that may end up giving their offense good field position in this one, but that is part of the risk you take in streaming this defense.
Expect Kevin O’Connell to get a lot more out of his young QB, but don’t expect rapid growth just yet. The Falcons DST will be available in a lot of leagues in Week 2 and they could pay off if the Vikings have a slow start once again.
Defenses to Stash
Indianapolis Colts
The Colts obliterated a Miami team that is full of playmakers. It’s hard to say if Week 1 was a fluke or not, but there have been concerns about character issues and motivations heading into the 2025 season. To assume that Indianapolis can repeat this every week would be taking the hype a little too far, but they definitely have the matchups to provide fantasy value in the 1st half of the season.
It’s possible that the Colts will get picked up this week simply because of how they did in Week 1. On the off-chance that they are still available and you have a bench spot to burn, Indianapolis offers solid future potential. They visit the Titans in Week 3, host the Raiders and Cardinals in Weeks 5 and 6, and then host the Titans in Week 8.
Seattle Seahawks
Seattle will be traveling to Pittsburgh, which could actually be a good time to start them. Aaron Rodgers may have gotten revenge in a thriller with his previous team, but the offensive line struggled. Rodgers doesn’t have the legs to evade defenders or scramble much, given his age and injury history.
The Hawks are coming off a 17-13 loss to the San Francisco 49ers, where they picked off QB Brock Purdy twice. Their defense should continue to shine under HC Mike Macdonald. Seattle will host the Saints in Week 3 and then travel to Arizona in Week 4. There aren’t many juicy matchups after that, but it’s possible that you can spot start them even in tougher matchups.
