2025 Fantasy Football: Week 6 Quarterback and Running Back Starts and Sits

Week 6 brings plenty more of those tough start and sit decisions for quarterbacks and running backs. Last week, we saw CJ Stroud finish as the QB1. Justin Fields finished as the QB7. I was wrong about sitting Baker Mayfield, as losing Liam Coen has done nothing wrong for his game. He finished as the QB6. Bo Nix finished as the QB15.

For Running Backs, Woody Marks did not play well, but the Arizona Cardinals’ running back, Michael Carter, did. Jordan Mason had a fumble, but he was able to score a touchdown and finished as the RB22. Chase Brown continues to be one of the best fades this season. He finished as the RB24 after being drafted as a RB1 this season.

Quarterback and Running Back Starts and Sits

Quarterback Starts

Bryce Young vs. Dallas Cowboys

Justin Fields finished as the QB7 against the Dallas Cowboys in Week 5. This week, Bryce Young gets his chance against the worst defense in the NFL against QBs. The Cowboys are allowing 27 fantasy PPG to the position. That is the most through the first five weeks of the season.

Young has just one QB1 finish, and that was in Week 2. In Week 6, Young will have his second QB1 finish of the season. The Cowboys are also allowing the most fantasy PPG to WRs this season.

Mac Jones @ Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Mac Jones has done a great job filling in for the injured Brock Purdy. In fact, Jones is the QB12 this season on a PPG basis. In three games this season, Jones has had two QB1 finishes. Now, he faces the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 6.

The Buccaneers allowed Sam Darnold to finish as the QB2 in Week 5. Also, they are allowing the fifth-most fantasy PPG to QBs. Jones led the San Francisco 49ers to a Week 5 win against the Los Angeles Rams. He will continue to fill the void at QB for them with another win in Week 6.

Quarterback Sits

Justin Fields vs. Denver Broncos

Justin Fields was one of my favorite starts in Week 5, and he delivered. This week, it gets tougher. He faces the Denver Broncos. The Broncos are allowing just 12.96 fantasy PPG to QBs. That is the third-fewest in the NFL. Jalen Hurts finished as the QB14 against that same defense in Week 5, and he is better than Fields. Leave Fields on your bench, despite the amazing game last week.

Daniel Jones vs. Arizona Cardinals

Daniel Jones is this year’s Sam Darnold. Jones is currently the QB11 on a PPG basis. The Indianapolis Colts are 4-1 and in first place in the AFC South thanks to Jones and their defense.

In Week 6, he faces the Arizona Cardinals. The Cardinals are a mess, but their defense has been great. They are allowing just 14.02 fantasy PPG to QBs through five games. Leave Jones on your bench and do not risk the start on him.

Running Back Starts

Jacory Croskey-Merritt vs. Chicago Bears

Jacory Croskey-Merritt finally broke out in Week 5. He had 150 total yards, with 111 being rushing yards. He finished as the RB5 and had 27 fantasy points. The Chicago Bears allow 29.85 fantasy PPG to RBs. That is the fourth-most this season. The Washington Commanders’ coaching staff finally realizes how good JCM is. He is one of the best RB starts in Week 6.

Hassan Haskins @ Miami Dolphins

The Miami Dolphins are a joke. They cannot defend a parked car. They are allowing the fifth-most fantasy PPG to RBs this season. Rico Dowdle rushed for over 200 yards against them in Week 5. Now, Omarion Hampton is on the IR for the Los Angeles Chargers. Hassan Haskins will be their RB1 when they face the Dolphins in Week 6. Haskins is set up to have the best game of his career. If you roster him after the Hampton news, START HIM!

Running Back Sits

Jaylen Warren vs. Cleveland Browns

The Cleveland Browns have been bad for a very long time, but their defense is always good. They are allowing the second-fewest fantasy PPG to RBs this season. Also, they have allowed just 312 rushing yards this season. Warren is coming off an injury. Despite the Pittsburgh Steelers having a bye week, Warren will be on my bench in Week 6.

Chase Brown @ Green Bay Packers

Chase Brown is one of the biggest busts of the 2025 fantasy football season. I have said that about 100 times already. It does not get easier as he faces the Green Bay Packers in Week 6 on the road. The Packers are favored by double-digits, too. Leave him on your bench.
