Week 10 Fantasy Football Trade Targets

Welcome to the double-digit weeks! Are you already ramping up for the playoffs, or are you scrambling just to make sure you get in? At this point in the season, I like to start taking the long view and planning out rosters multiple weeks in advance. You need to know where your weak spots are and which players have good matchups you can exploit. For our Week 10 Trade Targets, we’re going to focus on players who can help you finish the regular season strong.

Week 10 Fantasy Football Trade Targets

Rome Odunze, Chicago Bears WR

Whenever I see a stud going through a cold streak or putting up a goose egg, I always go kick the tires. To be clear, I think Rome’s a stud.

The zero in Week 9 was especially tough because managers were expecting a monster game against the Bengals.

While he hasn’t done enough yet to separate himself from D.J. Moore as the Bears’ true alpha, it’s only a matter of time. Until that happens, they will operate as a 1a/1b situation; he’ll never return to the backseat. Week 9 was the only game of the season where Moore out-targeted Rome.

Odunze has two games this season in which he got double-digit targets. He surpassed 100 yards in both. He has 5 touchdowns on the season, but hasn’t had one since Week 4. There have been a few close calls, though, and I would expect the scoreless streak to end sooner rather than later.

Chicago will have a tough rest-of-season schedule, where they’ll face many good offenses. Their defensive struggles likely mean these games will turn into boat races. If you have Odunze, that’s the recipe for success.

Troy Franklin, Denver Broncos WR

In the past three weeks, Troy Franklin has received 28 targets and scored 3 touchdowns. In Week 9, he also got two rush attempts.

I wanted to put those numbers at the forefront, because there’s another number that’s had me worried all season: his snap share. Early in the season, Franklin seemed like the clear WR2 on the team, but in Weeks 4-6, he started ceding snaps to Pat Bryant and Marvin Mims. We’ve seen Franklin’s snaps go back up recently, especially in Week 9 when Mims was out.

Assuming he can keep up the momentum moving forward, I think Franklin can be a WR2/3 for your team, especially if you are hurting at receiver.

He gets a great slate of matchups through Week 14, including Washington and two games against the Raiders, meaning he can help carry you into the playoffs. I stop short of calling him a league winner, though, because his schedule during the playoffs is brutal: Green Bay, Jacksonville, and Kansas City.

You don’t want to spend up big on Franklin, but you really shouldn’t have to. If you can get him for a decent price, use him to get to the postseason, and have a backup plan from there.

Kenneth Walker III, Seattle Seahawks RB

Remember, in order to buy low, you actually need to be buying someone who’s sitting pretty low.

Walker posted his only 100+ yard performance of the year way back in Week 2, and hasn’t found the end zone since Week 3.

On the bright side, he’s gotten double-digit carries in every game.

Walker and Zach Charbonnet appear to be in the truest of split backfields, with neither seeming to have an edge. Walker possesses the only real “big-play ability” between the two, but Charbonnet seems to get the bulk of the redzone carries.

So why would you want Walker?

Well, to start, either of these guys could be a league winner if the other goes down. Assuming health for both, I think Walker has the slight edge to take over as a lead runner. We saw him get two receptions in Week 9, his most since Week 1, which gives some hope of him getting more involved in the passing game.

The offense has also been rolling, and they just acquired a real downfield threat in Rashid Shaheed at the deadline. With teams having to account for the new weapon, some holes should open for the run game.

Seattle has a fairly decent schedule on the horizon, with plenty of good games ahead for the run game.

Running backs are at too much of a luxury currently to be going after anyone who’s performing well. If you have to buy low, make sure it’s for someone who has both a floor, and a chance at being a stud, like Walker.

Hunter Henry, New England Patriots TE

This might be my cheapest target of the season, given there’s about a 30% chance you can go get him on your waiver wire right now.

Assuming you’re in a league he’s rostered in, though, Hunter is the perfect bait-and-switch trade target. If you have a decent tight end with more name value than Henry, consider trading them to the Henry owner for him and someone else. Managers love feeling like they’re getting the best player in a 2-for-1, so let them think they are.

Henry doesn’t have the flash of the high YAC tight ends, which won’t change. He is, however, a consistent redzone target and one of Drake Maye’s more trusted receivers in big situations. Maye and Henry were already showing a strong connection last season after Maye took over as the starter, and it’s only continued this year. Henry already has 4 touchdowns on the season, and 4 games with at least 5 targets.

The real reason to be going after him, though, is his second-half schedule. The Pats still get to play the Bengals, Giants, and the Jets twice (one being in the Fantasy Championship)! Unfortunately, New England will be on Bye in Week 14, meaning you’ll need a backup option the week before your playoffs start. If you can weather that storm, you’ll be sitting pretty with Henry otherwise.

You should be able to acquire Henry for next to nothing. If you’re willing to take a swing, like I said earlier, you can probably even land him and a decent bench player for the right price.
