Week 13 NFL Survivor Picks

We are another week closer to survival. This isn’t the time to let up. The good news is that we have a full slate of 16 games to work with. The bad news is that you’ve already taken 12 teams, and the decisions aren’t getting any easier. What’s even better is that there weren’t any issues with our survivor picks from last week.

Of course, we still have to work through our process and highlight some options for consideration. Now, let’s jump into who we are considering for our Week 13 NFL Survivor Picks.

Week 13 NFL Survivor Picks

Los Angeles Rams at Carolina Panthers – Rams -10.5

I don’t like taking West Coast teams playing in the early game, but the Los Angeles Rams are clearly the better team. Matthew Stafford is destined to be a top finisher in the MVP voting, and Bryce Young is not even close to being there at this point in his career, if ever. Also, the fact that the Carolina Panthers played Monday night on the West Coast helps to counteract any potential travel disadvantage the Rams would have.

The Rams are ranked sixth this season with 27.8 points per game compared to the Panthers being ranked 28th with just 18 points. That disparity is simply going to be too much for Young to counter. In fact, there were also a few instances in which the Rams offense let up on the gas, and they could have easily put up more points.

While the Panthers do have a solid defense, Los Angeles is allowing the fewest points per game this season. They are in the midst of a six-game winning streak, and with one of our survivor picks, it’s hard not to expect it to reach seven.

Los Angeles Chargers vs. Las Vegas Raiders – Chargers -8.5

Firing Chip Kelly isn’t going to fix things. Well, it might make things better, but there’s more work than that to be done. Geno Smith hasn’t been the answer at quarterback. A wide receiver is needed. And Ashton Jeanty has had his share of troubles to this point. With Jeanty and Bowers, we have seen flashes, and there is potential, but they aren’t there as a team yet. In short, there’s nothing to suggest that their five-game losing streak won’t reach six.

The Chargers are looking to avenge a loss, and this is the perfect landing spot. Justin Herbert and the Chargers offense are capable of more than what we’ve seen to this point. Facing a reeling Raiders defense, Herbert should be able to take advantage of the situation. And an offense tied for 31st overall with just 15 points per game won’t be able to keep up. Los Angeles is also ranked 10th with 21.6 points allowed per game, which means things will be even harder for Smith. In one week, there’s only so much a new offensive coordinator can do.

Seattle Seahawks vs. Minnesota Vikings – Seahawks -10.5

Since his return, it’s been a rough go of things for JJ McCarthy. That’s been a trend for the Vikings overall as they are ranked 25th with 20.4 points scored per game. In the midst of a three-game losing streak, the return of McCarthy hasn’t exactly gone as planned. With a defense that’s currently around the middle of the road, the Vikings aren’t exactly finding an edge.

This week gives the Vikings a look at what they could have had. In fact, it’s old friend Sam Darnold who’s in the midst of another strong season, just this time it’s coming in Seattle.

Seattle has a legitimate home-field advantage, but with a 3-2 record in Seattle this year, they haven’t exactly capitalized on it. However, that doesn’t mean playing in Seattle has gotten any easier for road teams. The Seahawks are ranked seventh with 19.7 points per game allowed, and McCarthy isn’t going to be in position to outduel Darnold or shut down Jaxon Smith-Njigba.

Baltimore Ravens vs. Cincinnati Bengals – Ravens -7

I know this one is a little tricky, but the Cincinnati Bengals defense isn’t very good. In fact, that might be putting it kindly and giving them more credit than deserved. After all, the New York Jets and Justin Fields scored 39 points against the Bengals a few weeks ago. And then Fields got benched. And that’s the Jets we are talking about.

The Bengals are ranked last, or in a few cases second to last, across the board in all the major defensive categories. Yes, Joe Burrow is returning, but he’s also missed multiple weeks, and he doesn’t have Tee Higgins to throw to.

Is there any way that Lamar Jackson and Derrick Henry don’t take advantage of that defense? The Ravens are at home and I certainly trust their defense more than Cincinnati’s to make one more stop.
