Week 13 Recap

We had a 75% hit rate with our Week 13 Sleepers and Streamers.

Trevor Lawrence led the way as our top streamer of the Week. Heading into the Monday Night game, Lawrence is a Top-5 quarterback. He had two touchdowns and 229 yards through the air to go with 25 rushing yards.

Our two sleepers, Joe Burrow and Bo Nix, were wins, as they both finished inside the Top-15 for Quarterbacks. Burrow looks like his old self and should be a major benefit to anyone who held him through the injury. Nix didn’t play great and needed the game to go to overtime to get past our 15 fantasy point threshold to be considered a good call. Nix is completely matchup dependent, but should be a good option against the Raiders in Week 14.

Kirk Cousins was our lone miss. He played a decent game, but the team didn’t need him to do much behind Bijan Robinson. He will remain a desperation dart throw moving forward.

Full Season Tally: 33-21

Let’s see if we can keep building momentum with our Week 14 picks.

Week 14 Quarterback Sleepers

Jared Goff, Detroit Lions QB vs. Dallas Cowboys

While Goff is currently sitting at QB #12 on the season, he’s been a tough start due to his unpredictability. He’s only had one game with more than 40 pass attempts, but seven games with less than 30. He also has more games (5) with fewer than 13 fantasy points than he has games with over 20 (4) this season.

His good games seem sporadic, but most of them have one thing in common: the opposing team scored over 20 points.

That brings us to Thursday night, when the Lions play the Cowboys. The Cowboys have hit the 20-point mark in every game except two this year. This includes the previous two weeks against the Chiefs and Eagles, both of which have better defenses than the Lions.

What makes the matchup even better? The fact that the Cowboys have only held one team (the Raiders) to under 20 points on the season.

Dallas has one of the worst defenses in the league. While recent additions have improved their rush defense, their pass defense remains a sieve.

Goff also has some elements in his favor. He gets to play at home, which historically has been a major boon to his production. He should also be well rested since the team hasn’t had to travel for an away game in nearly a month.

The main drawback to playing Goff is that Amon-Ra St. Brown might not play. Since it’s a short week, I would assume he doesn’t suit up. Even if he does, I think Goff can still get it done. Jameson Williams played well in St. Brown’s absence on Thanksgiving. The team may also throw more to Gibbs, who can always take a screen pass to the house.  Regardless of who is out there, expect the Lions to need to score.

Goff should be a high-floor start in Week 14 with a decent chance at hitting his ceiling.

Jordan Love, Green Bay Packers QB vs. Chicago Bears

If Goff is a hot-and-cold starter, that makes Jordan Love a burning-and-freezing option. He has both three games over 25 fantasy points and three games with fewer than 10.

That’s fairly unsettling heading into your final regular-season matchup, but there’s reason to believe that Week 14 can be one of his blowup games.

Chicago allows the 10th most passing yards, the 6th highest completion percentage, and the 4th most passing touchdowns per game. In other words, this is a matchup to target with quarterbacks.

The Bears have also been a high-scoring offense, having scored over 20 points in all but two games this season.

On Love’s side, his pass-catchers are getting healthier. Christian Watson is starting to look like a dominant receiver again. Jayden Reed may return for this one.

This will be a pivotal matchup between the two teams as both can still win their division. We should expect both teams to come out hot and keep their foot on the pedal. The big fear right now will be the weather. There are currently no concerns over rain or wind, but the temperature could be in the teens.

Let’s hope that this turns into a high-scoring affair that forces the teams to throw.

Week 14 Quarterback Streamers

Sam Darnold, Seattle Seahawks QB @ Atlanta Falcons

Who doesn’t want to start a QB with less than five fantasy points in three of his last four games?

Everyone. Everyone should be scared to do this. That doesn’t mean it’s a bad idea.

Starting Darnold this week is not for the faint of heart. For some of us though, we may not have a choice. So, let’s look at the reasons you should capitulate and throw him into your starting lineup.

To start, the Atlanta defense has been struggling. They are coming off a loss to the Tyrod Taylor led Jets. Atlanta has also allowed Carolina to drop 30 points on them…twice. They’ve given up the second-most passing yards over the past three games.

The Seahawks, on the other hand, have been one of the highest scoring teams in the league. They’ve scored 30 or more points in six games this year. Much of this scoring is actually by the defense, which can explain some of Darnold’s recent woes.

In this matchup, we should expect the Seattle defense to continue dominating. Kirk Cousins will start for Atlanta. He’s been extremely interception-prone since becoming a Falcon. They may be without Drake London again as well. Expect Darnold to be gifted excellent field position on multiple occasions.

At some point, Darnold’s bad streak is going to come to an end. Atlanta provides an excellent opportunity to do so.

Marcus Mariota/ Jayden Daniels, Washington Commanders QB @ Minnesota Vikings

While Jayden was questionable to return in Week 13, I still expect Mariota to get the nod again against the Vikings. If Daniels does play, don’t be scared to thrust him back into your lineup.

In seven starts, Mariota has hit 15+ fantasy points four times. Two of these games were over 20. Three of those games resulted in 30+ pass attempts, with him throwing 50 times in their last game against Denver. He’s also averaging 5.3 rushing attempts in those starts.

In his six starts, Daniels is averaging 28 pass attempts and 9 rushing attempts.

Minnesota’s offense might be the worst in the league. They’ve scored 23 points in their last three games combined. They also lead the league in both interceptions and fumbles per game. Even though the Commanders’ defense is bad, we should expect they can easily get off the field in this one.

With extra opportunities, either Washington QB should be able to score points. Based on their record, we should expect Mariota for the foreseeable future. Assume he’ll continue to build off of last week’s career high in passes.
