Week 14 NFL DFS: Money Makers and Heart Breakers

If you live up here in Maine, you know precisely what time of year it is: the point where the cold doesn’t just sting; it settles into your bones and refuses to leave. The mornings are pitch-black, the afternoons are basically dusk, and every time I step outside, I feel less like a human being and more like a frozen vampire just trying to survive until kickoff.

The short days hit hard. The winter blues start creeping in. You begin questioning life choices, like why you live in a frozen seacoast of icy wind blasts where the sun apparently takes a seasonal sabbatical.

But fear not, in the middle of this icy darkness, we still have one warm, glowing comfort: fantasy football. And this week’s Money Makers & Heart Breakers is here to shine a little light, warm your heart, and keep you going as we push through the cold, shovel the snow, and head toward the fantasy playoffs.

Let’s thaw out together.

Money Makers and Heart Breakers for Week 14 NFL DFS

Here is a brief definition of each of my terms for anyone that might be new:

💰 Money Maker – This player will perform better than expectations

💔 Heart Breaker – This player will perform lower than expectations

💰 Money Makers

Quarterbacks

Josh Allen, Buffalo Bills

Allen has multiple touchdowns in three of the past four games. In Week 14, the Bills play the Bengals. The Bengals give up the sixth-most fantasy points to opposing teams’ quarterbacks. This game has an over/under of 53.5 and looks to be quite the shootout. Allen might run and throw for multiple touchdowns in Week 14/

Jordan Love, Green Bay Packers

In Week 13, Love managed to pass for 234 yards and four touchdowns. In Week 14, Love faces a Bears defense that gives up the eighth-most to opposing teams’ quarterbacks. Quarterbacks average 235 yards and two touchdowns per game. I love Jordan to produce in Week 14.

Tyler Shough, New Orleans Saints

How is this guy’s name pronounced “shuck “? It reads like it should be pronounced shO with a long O. Anyways, this week “Shuck” plays against a Buccaneers defense that has given up 10 touchdowns over the past four games. The Buccaneers are the third most. I had him as a play last week, and he managed 239 yards and two touchdowns. Aw, shucks, he should produce like that again in Week 14.

Running Backs

James Cook, Buffalo Bills

James Cook is an absolute stud and rips apart run funnel defenses. This week, he plays the funneliest of run funnels, the Bengals defense. The Bengals, you see, give up the most fantasy points to running backs. James will be running like a tiger is chasing him.

$7,800 on DraftKings
$9,300 on FanDuel

Chase Brown, Cincinnati Bengals

You know who else cannot defend the run? That would be the Bills. The Bills give up the third most fantasy points to running backs. Brown started slowly but has now had six straight weeks of double-digit fantasy scores. He also has over 100 total yards in each of those games. The matchup is right, and the usage is excellent. Brown will have you chasing fantasy glory in Week 14.

$7,300 on FanDuel

Quinshon Judkins, Cleveland Browns

With Shedeur Sanders at quarterback, Judkins has seen a massive uptick in usage. In Week 13, he had 26 touches. Expect Judkins to continue to see that type of volume in Week 14 against the Titans. He will also be utilized in the short passing game that Sanders is running. The Titans give up 103 yards and a touchdown on average weekly to running backs. Studkins can be started with confidence.

Wide Receivers

Christian Watson, Green Bay Packers

In Week 13, Watson saw 10 targets, which was a 33% target share of Packers passes. He turned that into four receptions, 80 yards, and a touchdown. In Week 14, the Packers will play the Bears. Bears give up the third most fantasy points to opposing teams’ wide receivers. It is elementary, my dear Watson, the volume and the lack of defense will equal fantasy production.

Jakobi Meyers, Jacksonville Jaguars

Meyers is the Jaguars’ wide receiver 1. He had a 22% target share for the Jaguars in Week 13. His stat line was six targets, six receptions, 90 yards, and a touchdown. In Week 14 he plays against a Colts defense that does not defend the pass well. They have given up huge fantasy days to a wide receiver in each of the past three games.

$6,100 on FanDuel

Zay Flowers, Baltimore Ravens

Flowers has seen five or more targets in each of the last four games. I know he was bad last week. But this week, he gets to play against a Steelers defense that gives up the sixth most fantasy points to wide receivers. The match is good, and the volume should be there. Everything will be coming up Flowers for Zay in Week 14.

Tight Ends

Dalton Kincaid, Buffalo Bills

Tight Ends average 93 yards and a touchdown against the Bengals. The Bengals’ defense has given up the most yards and touchdowns in the NFL to tight ends this season. Dalton Kincaid is the Bills’ starting tight end, facing a defense that is quite literally defenseless against tight ends. Sometimes these things just write themselves.

$4,300 on DraftKings
$5,800 on FanDuel

Tyler Warren, Indianapolis Colts

Did you know that the Jaguars give up the second-most fantasy points to opposing teams’ tight ends? Did you know that Tyler Warren is a good tight end? Warren is coming off two games with tough matchups. He didn’t break 10 fantasy points in either of those games. Well, this week is bounce-back week; really good player in a really good match-up.

Defense

Washington Commanders

The Vikings have given up 48 fantasy points to opposing teams’ defenses over the past two games. Yes, I said 48 fantasy points. The Commanders are not what I would call a good fantasy defense. But when you get JJ McCarthy or Max Brosmer playing quarterback on the other side of the ball, anything is possible. You can capitalize on the Vikings being pathetic.

$2,800 on DraftKings
$4,400 on FanDuel

Cleveland Browns

The Browns play the Titans in Week 14. The Titans give up the second-most fantasy points to opposing defenses. The Titans’ offense is not very good; meanwhile, the Browns’ defense is really good; defenses average four sacks per week against the Titans. The Browns should be able to get those in Week 14.

$3,700 on DraftKings
$4,900 on FanDuel

Tampa Bay Buccaneers

The Buccaneers will play the Saints in Week 14. The Saints have given up double-digit fantasy points in each of the past two weeks. In Week 8, the Buccaneers managed 26 fantasy points against the Saints. They had five sacks, four turnovers, and a defensive touchdown in that game. Look for the Buccaneers defense to put up some fantasy points in Week 14

$4,600 on FanDuel

💔Heart Breakers

Quarterbacks

Patrick Mahomes, Kansas City Chiefs

The Chiefs will play the Texans in Week 14. The Texans are the most formidable defense against quarterbacks. Not a single quarterback has surpassed 20 fantasy points against the Texans this season. Mahomes has struggled in tough matchups lately. In two of his last four games, Patrick did not surpass 14 fantasy points/

Joe Burrow, Cincinnati Bengals

The Bills vs the Bengals is expected to be a shootout. I wouldn’t sit Burrow in season long, but with the Bills being the second hardest defense for quarterbacks to score fantasy points against, I would not play Burrow in DFS.

Running Backs

Bam Knight, Arizona Cardinals

Knight has three straight games of double-digit fantasy scores. In Week 14, he goes up against a Rams defense that has only given up over 100 rushing yards once this season, and only three running backs have surpassed 13 fantasy points against the Rams. This defense is Ram tough.

Jonathan Taylor, Indianapolis Colts

We like to think of Taylor as somewhat match-up proof. Usually, I would agree. I think Taylor is great. But the last two formidable run defenses that the Colts faced have both held Taylor in check. He managed 57 total yards against the Steelers in Week 9 and only 66 total yards against the Chiefs in Week 12. The Jaguars’ run defense is better than both of those teams.

Wide Receiver

Tre Tucker, Las Vegas Raiders

The Raiders will play the Broncos in Week 14. The Broncos give up the third-fewest fantasy points to opposing teams’ wide receivers. Let’s face it, you weren’t playing Tucker in DFS anyway. But I am here to tell you to sit him in every format. I needed an easy one and it doesn’t get any easier than this.

Terry McLaurin, Washington Commanders

Believe it or not, the Vikings actually do something well. They defend the pass well. Or it could be teams get up on the Vikings and then just run the ball relentlessly. Either way, look for McLaurin not to be so scary in Week 14 as the Commanders play the Vikings.

Tight Ends

Mike Gesicki, Cincinnati Bengals

I do not need to write anything about Gesicki’s stats here at all. The Bills you see give up the least amount of fantasy points to tight ends. Only once this season has a tight end scored 10 fantasy points against the Bills; no one has scored more than that against them.

AJ Barner, Seattle Seahawks

AJ Barner has had an up-and-down season. He is good when the match is correct. In Week 14, the game is wrong. The Falcons give up the second-fewest fantasy points to tight ends. Barner goes down against the Falcons. Absolutely nothing to see here.
