Week 8 MLB FAAB Report
Ezequiel Duran (1B, 2B, SS, OF – Texas Rangers) – 52% Rostered
Duran’s roster rate doubled since I wrote him up last week, but he should be much higher for several reasons. First of all, all he has done since the last article is record a hit in four straight while tallying a double, a home run, four runs, and three RBI. I love the fact that he has lowered his K rate (21.6%) and increased his walk rate (10.3%) to career-high numbers while also flashing the power we saw back in 2023.
With his four-position eligibility and move up the batting order more often, he is easily in play in all formats.
FAAB Suggestion: 3-5%
Luke Raley (1B, OF – Seattle Mariners) – 53% Rostered
With his tendency to be very streaky, Raley is a player who gets streamed a lot but should be rostered full-time in certain formats. After a terrible end to April, he has heated back up in May with a .333/.440/.905 slash line with four home runs and 11 RBI.
The streakiness comes from his massive swing and miss tendencies (36% K rate, 46% Whiff rate), but the upside is massive everywhere else. The Baseball Savant profile says it all as he is 82nd percentile or higher in eight different stats and 96th percentile or higher in six of those.
While you do have to sacrifice the strikeouts, you get elite production in other areas, and he also comes with multi-position eligibility.

FAAB Recommendation: 3-5%Â
Kyle Leahy (SP – St. Louis Cardinals) – 26% Rostered
With all the injuries to starting pitchers, the free agent market has really dried up, and we are only in mid-May. The advanced stats aren’t exactly something to write home about with Leahy, but he has produced double-digit fantasy points in three straight and four of his last five starts, topping 18 or more in three of those. The strikeouts have also ticked up recently, with five or more in four of his last five. He keeps hitters off balance with a six-pitch mix, each with a usage rate above 10%. If you are in need of pitching, it is worth taking a shot on Leahy, especially in points leagues.
FAAB Recommendation: 2-3%
J.T. Ginn (SP – Athletics) – 38% Rostered
I highlighted Ginn in last week’s FAAB report, and while he did almost double his roster %, he is still available in over 60% of leagues. He is coming off back-to-back quality starts with 11 strikeouts and just two walks over 14 innings while putting up 22 or more fantasy points in each start. He is pretty average across the board when looking at the advanced stats on his Baseball Savant profile, but has been excellent at limiting hard contact and creating an elite ground ball rate.
What stands out the most with Ginn is that he gets two starts next week against the Angels and Padres, two teams ranked outside the Top 20 in offense. With this in mind, he is a viable streamer in all formats and could be a candidate to stick around in your rotation for the rest of the season.
FAAB Recommendation: 3-5%
