We have a 7-game slate tonight that locks at 6:37 PM EST. We have aces, rookies, and the in-between all going tonight. Make sure to look at the matchups because there are some juicy bats tonight. In these MLB DFS quick hits, you’ll see my:
Pitching Plays – My top two pitching plays of the night. The opposing team’s effectiveness against pitcher’s handiness, K rate, and wRC+ are just a few of the items considered here.
Happy Hitters – One corner infielder, middle infielder, and two outfielders who should be smiling at the end of the night. Hitter’s platoon splits, ISO, and wOBA are just a few of the items considered here.
Let’s Get Weird – I will give one lesser-owned hitter and one pitcher that MIGHT have a chance to boom but an equal chance to bust. In other words, a dart throw that could set you apart in MLB DFS GPPs. Your decision if you want to live dangerously.

Top MLB DFS Plays for 8/27
Pitching Plays
- Walker Buehler ($10,600 DK) – Did you not see what this man did his last start? 6 innings of one-run ball with 11 K’s? Sign me up. The reigns are finally off and WB has looked to hit his stride. This current group of Giants is hitting .175 career vs Buehler and the Giants rank around the middle of the pack vs RHP’s. I’m betting on the talent of Buehler here.
- Max Scherzer ($10,900 DK) – Yes, he’s been unScherzer-like this season. Strike it up to whatever you want, but this man still has 44 SO in 31 IP. That’ll play. Combine with the fact that Scherzer in his career has feasted on the Phillies. He has a career 2.62 ERA (His 4th best vs any NL team) and are hitting as a team .157 vs Mad Max. He’s coming off a subpar start against the Marlins that I expect for him to bounce back in a big way this game.
Happy Hitters
- Corner Infield: Dominic Smith ($3,900 DK) – The Mets could be a nice stack tonight vs the soft-tossing righty Anibal Sanchez and I’m starting it right here with Smith. He’s got a 1.155 OPS and .431 ISO vs this handiness on the season and is just straight mashing! Get him in your MLB DFS lineups.
- Middle Infield: Brandon Lowe ($5,600 DK) – You had me at Baltimore. John Means (who I like) is on the mound and in a game I expect there to be some offense, I expect Lowe to be a major contributor. He’s got a 238 wRC+ and a .516 wOBA vs lefties so I’m all about getting Lowe to the floor today.
- Outfielder #1: Nelson Cruz ($5,700 DK) – Cruz is facing a lefty? Cruz is 3rd in the AL vs that handiness with a .520 ISO. The big reason why I like Cruz tonight? His BB/K is 10th in the AL vs lefties as well at 1.0 so he’s seeing the ball really well. Cook that up in the pot vs Matthew Boyd, who has homerun as his middle name, and you’ve got yourself a nice recipe for dinger soup.
- Outfielder #2: Brandon Nimmo ($3,500 DK) – Nimmo quietly has had a nice bounce-back year this year, hitting 4 HR’s and 8 RBI’s while posting a respectable .892 OPS. He’s also 7th in MLB in wRC+ vs right-handers, who he’s facing a soft-tossing one in Anibal Sanchez. He had a great night last night and could repeat again tonight.
Let’s Get Weird
- Chris Bassitt ($8,400 DK) – He’s looked really good this season, having accumulated a 2.97 ERA, 1.08 WHIP, and 28:9 K:BB ratio in 33.1 IP. Texas has been cold of late and had their offense go cold much more often recently. He’s averaging 15.7 FPPG and is a great pivot off the top guys.
- Luis Guillorme ($2,000 DK) – One thing I need to get out of the way. Mookie Betts is a GREAT play today and should be in your lineup based on his stats vs LHP’s. However, this is the get weird section, where you play a complete wild card. My pick for this is Mr. Guillorme, who has over the last two weeks a 261 wRC+ and .554 wOBA. Against the rookie Sixto Sanchez, this could be a nice GPP play.
