Welcome back, golf fans. The PGA Tour rolls into Quail Hollow Club for the Truist Championship, marking the second straight Signature Event on the schedule and sixth on the season. As one of the most prestigious venues in the game, Quail Hollow has played host to the 2017 and 2025 PGA Championship as well as the 2022 Presidents Cup, forcing this event to rotate locations during those seasons.
In this article we will preview the course, look at the stats that matter, and provide our top bets for the week. Let’s get started.

The Course: Quail Hollow Club
Quail Hollow is the third-longest course on tour behind Trump National Doral and Torrey Pines, sitting at 7,583 yards. As a par 71, it has four par 3’s, 11 par 4’s, and three par 5’s. With a major championship pedigree, Quail Hollow is one of the toughest tests on tour, and the bulk of that comes from the par 4’s. Eight of the 11 come in at 450 yards or longer, with five topping 480 yards and two over 500 yards! To say long irons will be important again this week would be an understatement.
Quail Hollow is also one of just a handful of courses on tour that averages below 60% in both fairway accuracy and greens in regulation. Distance is definitely more important than accuracy off the tee this week, but the more fairways you hit, the more clean lies you will have when facing the long and difficult approach shots.
Stats & Trends That Matter: Finding the 2026 Truist Championship Champion
Top Stats:
- Strokes Gained: Approach/Long Iron Proximity – With two long par 3’s (200+ yards) and some monster par 4’s, iron play and more specifically long iron play will be key to finding the top of the leaderboard this week.
- Strokes Gained: Off the Tee/Driving Distance – The same as last week, I am looking for the longer hitters, but also with a mix of accuracy. For the less accurate players, I will also look at some Good Drive %
- Strokes Gained: Around the Green – With a low GIR rate comes a huge boost in the importance of scrambling. A lot of the holes will become “grab a par and run to the next hole” this week.
- Signature Event History – In these signature events with small, elite fields, it is important to look at who has performed well under the immense pressure.
Rory McIlroy (+600 Outright)
Rory took last week off to avoid playing three weeks in a row, and this was one week he was never considering taking off, as he has owned Quail Hollow. He won here in his first trip back in 2010 and has since added three more victories and five other top 10 finishes at this event. He leads the tour in SG: Off the Tee and Ball Striking, is 5th in Driving Distance, 15th and 6th in Proximity from 175-200 and 200+ yards, top 5 in both par 4 and 5 scoring, and 1st in both bogey avoidance and birdie or better%. If playing one of the big dogs in the single digits this week, it’s McIlroy over Young for me.
Xander Schauffele (+1125 Outright / +215 Top 5)
Schauffele looks to be closing in on PGA Tour win No. 11, riding a streak of seven consecutive top-25 finishes, highlighted by two top 5’s and four top 10’s. He is also a great course fit, ranking 9th in this field in SG: Tee to Green, 10th in SG: Approach, 15th in Driving Distance, top 15 in both Proximity from 175-200 and 200+ yards, and Top 10 in both par 4 and 5 scoring. He finished 28th here at Quail Hollow in last year’s PGA Championship but has back-to-back runner-up finishes at this event in 2023 and 2024. Xander is my favourite bet at the top of the board, and I will also be adding a Top 5, as well.
Ludvig Aberg (+1650 Outright / +315 Top 5)
I was kind of sad to see Aberg skip last week, as I felt he was a good course fit. The good news is Quail Hollow is somewhat similar in setup, being long but still requiring some accuracy. That is good news as Aberg is 4th in Total Driving and one of just two players (Young the other) to rank top 25 in both distance and accuracy off the tee. He is also top 25 in all Strokes Gained categories, is 5th in Proximity from 200+ yards, and 3rd in Birdie or Better %. He missed the cut here in 2025 when Quail Hollow hosted the PGA Championship, but comes in with much better form with Top 5 finishes in four of his last five events, two of which were signature events.
Si Woo Kim (+2400 Outright / +390 Top 5 / +175 Top 10)
Si Woo is another player who returns to Quail Hollow with some positive course history. He picked up a Top 10 here at the 2025 PGA Championship and has finished 43rd and 16th in his two trips to the Wells Fargo Championship in 2023 and 2024. He comes into this year’s event with top form, coming off back-to-back top 5 finishes in signature events, and while he isn’t elite when looking at the stats model, he is very close. He may be slightly below average in terms of driving distance, but has been money with his irons (3rd in SG:APP) and especially from long distances (1st in Prox from 175-200, 21st in Prox from 200+). MY top exposure will be in the top 10 market, but will also have exposure in the top 5 and outright markets.
J.J. Spaun (+300 Top 10 / +122 Top 20)
It has been an interesting season for Spaun, who started out missing four of seven cuts with just one Top 25, but has found form and comes into this week inside the Top 25 in my model. Since the slow start, he has a win at the Valero Texas Open and three Top 25’s in his last four events, including back-to-back at signature events. He is just average in distance off the tee, but is Top 10 in ball striking and top 25 in both proximity buckets that I am keying in on this week. To top it off, he also has a plus course history, finishing 27th and 18th in the 2023 and 2021 Wells Fargo Championship and 37th in last year’s PGA Championship.
