Deep League Fantasy Baseball Waiver Wire Targets for Week 6

Something interesting tends to happen about a month into the season when it comes to the waiver wire. On the whole, we see less attention and intensity for weekly pickups as fatigue starts to set in from several weeks of chasing emerging players. This slowdown is justifiable as so many pre-season playing time and role questions get answered in the first few weeks of a season. But once the dust settles, it’s hard to stay focused on finding diamonds in the rough with the waiver wire. That’s where this weekly deep league fantasy baseball waiver wire article can ease the burden for you. I keep a keen eye on the bottom half of rosters to find newly emerging players who can help you upgrade your roster in key positions. This week’s list includes several proven players that are, amazingly, all rostered in under 20% of Fantrax leagues.

Deep League Waiver Wire Targets for Week 6

15-Team Mixed League Targets

1. Miguel Andujar, OF, Athletics (18% rostered)

After his breakout rookie season in 2018, when he hit 27 home runs and batted .297, Miguel Andujar has never been able to replicate those impressive results. Ultimately, the Yankees let him go in 2022, and his struggles continued in Pittsburgh. Though his fresh start last season with the Athletics seemingly rejuvenated him, as he hit .285 in 75 games. So far in 2025, he’s improving on those numbers with a .316 batting average in his first 22 games. While the power has mostly disappeared, his consistent production in a sneaky good lineup makes him worthy of rostering in deep leagues moving forward.

2. Kevin Ginkel, RP, Diamondbacks (19% rostered)

Nothing can suppress a player’s value more than a prolonged injury. That’s clearly the case with Kevin Ginkel this season, who had his fantasy ADP plummet this season due to right shoulder inflammation in spring training. Ginkel was activated from the IL this week and will immediately step into the back of the Diamondbacks bullpen, where he flourished last season. Last season, he had career highs in saves (5) and holds (18) in his first season with the Diamondbacks. With A.J. Puk out indefinitely, Ginkel now becomes the secondary closing option behind Justin Martinez. He should still sneak occasional save chances throughout the season, but his real value comes as a closer handcuff on a contending team while improving key ratios.

AL-Only League Waiver Wire Target

Jonah Bride, 1B/ 2B, Twins (12% rostered)

One of the most surprising stats from last season was that Jonah Bride finished in the top 10 overall with OPS after the All-Star break. The other names on that list were all first and second-round star hitters. Despite such a strong finish to his season in 2024, he was quickly cut from the Marlins roster in early 2025. The Twins took a flyer on him as a bench bat, and then he was quickly thrust into the starting lineup soon after as injuries arose. In his time with the Twins so far, it seems that Bride has regained his footing as he’s hit .389 in his first seven games. Given his past performance in 2024, there is much appeal for taking a flyer on Bride in this week’s waiver wire run.

NL-Only League Waiver Wire Target

Jose Tena, 3B/SS, Nationals (12%)

It’s highly unlikely that the casual baseball fan would know the name Jose Tena. Though for deep league fantasy baseball players, it’s a name that many would likely know after his emergence last season. In fact, Tena was a late-season hero for many NL-only league fantasy managers as he hit .362 in August. Just 24 years old and in his third season in the major leagues, Tena is starting to offer consistent contributions at the plate. While he really only contributes to batting average in fantasy, he’s a regular in the Nationals’ lineup and should compile key counting stats as a result. Jose Tena makes for a safe waiver wire addition as a middle infielder in NL-only leagues.
