Despite the Phillies’ record, fantasy baseball managers should actually avoid their offense when looking for pitching streamers. However, a few other big teams with poor records have become clear teams to target in streaming matchups. The Giants and Mets have become teams to exploit. The Rangers have also turned into one of the worst offenses in the league, and make for a great streaming matchup this week. A few teams have been trending in a positive direction, like the White Sox and Angels, and are now offenses to avoid.

Below are some of my favorite pitching streamers for the upcoming week.
Pitching Streamers for Shallow Leagues (Over 20% Rostered)
Ryan Weathers (SP – NYY)
Next Start: Thursday, 5/7 vs TEX
Ryan Weathers has been effective in his recent outings, allowing three or fewer earned runs in four of his last five starts. He has gone at least five innings in all of those starts as well, a step in the right direction after two short outings to start the year. Weathers has stabilized his WHIP by walking just three batters in his last four starts, and features a 40:8 K:BB ratio to go along with a 3.21 ERA on the season.
Texas has some major offensive flaws, scoring the fourth fewest runs so far this season. They also have hit the ninth-fewest home runs and have struck out the sixth-most in baseball, with the sixth-highest strikeout rate. With Weathers’ ability to strike batters out effectively and to limit damage from the long ball, he should be able to add another strong outing to his season resume after this start.
Weathers has leaned heavily on his fastball this season, but features a devastating sweeper that has done most of the damage for him against his opponents. It has generated a 50% whiff rate and a 41% putaway rate, and has gone for a hit just once out of the 106 times he has thrown it. He will need his changeup or sinker to perform a little better against righty batters to sustain success, though. Take a look at the movement on his sweeper here:

Weathers should be among the top pitching streamers you add for the upcoming match, and could be a longer-term hold, even in shallow leagues.
Spencer Arrighetti (SP – HOU)
Next Start: Saturday, 5/9 at CIN
Spencer Arrighetti has been electric this season, striking out 10 Rockies hitters in his season debut, then bouncing back from a three-strikeout game at Cleveland to punch out eight Yankees batters. He has wins in all three games and quality starts in two of them. He will take his pristine 2.00 ERA into his next outing against Cincinnati.
The Reds have scored the 10th fewest runs in the league, while also striking out the eighth most. Additionally, they own the league’s third-highest K%. This is a juicy matchup for Arrightetti, despite being played in Great American Ball Park. He has 21 strikeouts across 18 innings, making this a clear matchup to exploit. He also has allowed just one home run during that span, which should ease fantasy managers’ concerns about the location of this game.
Arrighetti’s arsenal is built for this matchup. His fastball plays up due to shape and extension, and his curveball, his most used pitch, has been dominant. It has a 56% whiff rate, a 51% putaway rate, and a .120 BAA. That should help him take advantage of Cincinnati’s swing-and-miss tendencies and keep the ball in the park. He used it to earn two strikeouts in an inning recently – take a look:

Add Arrighetti as one of the best pitching streamers for the week ahead, and possibly beyond.
Bubba Chandler (SP – PIT)
Next Start: Sunday, 5/10 at SF
Bubba Chandler has shown flashes of dominance this season, but has also dealt with some tough outings. He pitched a six-inning quality start against Tampa, but followed that up with a six-run dud at Texas. His most recent start, as of writing, was a loss against the Cardinals, so Chandler will look to get back on track with a soft matchup against the Giants in San Francisco.
San Fran profiles as a favorable opponent, ranking as the worst in baseball in both runs scored and home runs hit. They also feature the league’s sixth-worst groundball rate. This is pleasant news for those who roster Chandler or are considering adding him as a streamer. Chandler was typically league average at inducing grounders throughout the minors, but has been slightly below average in the majors. Pitching against the Giants could get him more on track with his GB%. Chandler has also allowed a ton of walks (20 in 29 IP), but the Giants have the lowest BB% in the league, which should help Chandler keep runners off the bases and limit scoring.
Chandler brings a high-90s fastball and multiple high-whiff secondary pitches, including a changeup, slider, and sweeper that have all generated 25% whiff rates or better. His best pitch has been his changeup, which also features a .226 BAA and a 26% putaway rate. Chandler is still looking for a clear weapon to put out righty batters consistently, but could see that improving against the Giants’ weak offense. Here is a look at his nasty changeup below:

Chandler should be on your pitching streamers radar if he is available in your league.
Pitching Streamers for Deep Leagues (0%-24% Rostered)
Tomoyuki Sugano (SP – COL)
Next Start: Monday, 5/4, vs NYM
Tomoyuki Sugano has been perhaps surprisingly steady in recent outings, limiting damage while working into the fifth inning in all but one of his six starts this season. He has allowed more than two earned runs in a game just once this season, against the Dodgers in Colorado. Sugano has three wins on the season, two quality starts, and an impressive 2.84 ERA. He faces a spiraling Mets offense next.
The Mets rank second-worst in runs scored, while hitting the fourth-fewest home runs. They also have the ninth-highest GB% in baseball. This should play into Sugano’s favor, even though the game will be played in hitter-friendly Coors Field. Sugano has posted an above average 47% GB rate, which is well above league average, and has allowed just five home runs in 31.2 IP. He should be able to turn in a strong outing in this one.
Sugano relies on a deep pitch mix, including a fastball, splitter, slider, and cutter, to keep batters guessing. His splitter has been his primary weapon for inducing weak contact, which he does effectively. Sugano’s ability to keep batters off balance has led to soft contact, which helps him work around the low strikeout totals. He is able to still earn strikeouts, though, like this one on his slider:

If you have been worried, it is now time to trust Sugano as one of the premium pitching streamers for the week ahead.
Jameson Taillon (SP – ChC)
Next Start: Tuesday, 5/5, vs CIN
Jameson Taillon has been relatively steady this season, with one ugly outing against Pittsburgh, inflating his 4.41 ERA. Otherwise, he has turned in three quality starts on the season, and owns a 2-1 record. Taillon went seven innings against San Diego in his last outing. He struck out six, walked one, and picked up a win. He faces a tantalizing matchup at home against Cincy next.
The Reds have their struggles with scoring runs and striking out, which should play well for Taillon. He has allowed multiple earned runs in four of his last five outings, which is not ideal, but he could see that improve against a team that ranks in the bottom third of the league in runs scored. Taillon’s eight strikeout-per-nine rate is his best since 2023, so that should continue to hold up, or even improve more against a high-K team like Cincinnati.
Taillon uses a deep arsenal featuring a fastball, cutter, sweeper, and curveball, and mixes his pitches well. For as good as his pitches have been this season, it has not reflected in his ERA. Most of the homers Taillon allowed this season have been on his fastball, cutter, and changeup. His fastball and change also own his highest BAAs, while all of his other offerings have a BAA of .214 or better. He has a clear path to success here. Taillon’s sweeper has been particularly impressive, generating a 32% whiff rate and a 36% putaway rate. Perhaps he should lean more on his sinker or curve against lefties instead of his change, because batters clearly do not have a read on those pitches. They have allowed a combined three hits in the 115 times he has thrown them. Check out Taillon’s player card from his latest outing, showing he is throwing some high quality pitches:

— Pitcher List Stats (@PitcherListPLV) April 30, 2026
Look for Taillon to get back on track in this one and make him one of your main pitching streamers for the upcoming match.
German Marquez (SP – SD)
Next Start: Wednesday, 5/6, at SF
German Marquez has shown improved form in recent outings, limiting damage, especially when pitching away from Coors Field. His strikeout totals have been solid, and he has done a decent job of avoiding collapses. Marquez narrowly missed a quality start in his last outing, as of writing, against Arizona. He has also pitched shutouts against the Angels and Pirates. Marquez’s next start comes at the Giants.
San Francisco has been one of the worst offenses in the league this season, struggling to score runs, hit homers, and avoid grounders. Marquez has been a high GB pitcher over his career, with a 46% career GB rate. He could see some positive regression after this outing, since his current GB% is well below both league average and his norm. Marquez has also pitched into some poor home run luck this season. The veteran has allowed nearly a home run more per nine innings than his career average, and has a HR/FB% that sits above league average as well. This is especially odd, considering he no longer pitches in Colorado as his home park, and suggests some positive regression is on the way.
Marquez’s most used pitches are his curveball and fastball, but he features a sinker and slider as his other secondaries, and a rarely used changeup too. His curve has been his most effective pitch at inducing strikeouts, with nine of his 17 punchouts coming against it. That pitch also has a 30% whiff rate, best in his arsenal. It is his primary out pitch against lefty hitters, while his slider has been his best at getting righty hitters to swing and miss, generating a 26% whiff rate. Maybe he should be using his changeup more, if it keeps earning K’s like in the clip below:

Marquez may not be a pitcher you hold onto for long, but he is one of the premium pitching streamers for the upcoming week.
Steven Matz (SP – TB)
Next Start: Friday, 5/8, at BOS
Steven Matz has turned in some impressive outings this season, picking up four wins in six starts, including two quality starts. His most recent outing was a seven-inning win against Cleveland, though he only struck out two batters. His ERA ballooned after a four-run outing against the Reds, but he could lower it from its current 4.31 standing after a strong matchup against the Red Sox.
Boston has performed poorly lately, leading to most of their coaching staff being fired. They have scored the eighth-fewest runs in baseball, have hit the third-fewest homers, and have the league’s fifth-highest GB%. Matz, for his career, has been an effective groundball pitcher, posting a 45% career GB rate. It sits at 36% this season, so he could see that tick up against the Sox. Matz has also pitched into some poor home run luck, so he could get some help in that area, too, as Boston has had trouble getting the ball out of the park.
Matz overwhelmingly tosses a sinker-changeup combo, which makes up nearly 80% of his pitch usage. Both of those pitches are his primary pitches against righty batters, with his changeup being most effective. It has a .133 BAA and a 30% whiff rate. Matz’s slider has induced a solid 24% whiff rate, but has been tagged by lefty hitters. He will need that pitch or his curveball to turn into a more true out pitch against lefty hitters to sustain success consistently, but he is worth an add in the short term. Perhaps diverting some of his sinker usage to his curveball could allow for some better outings, considering his curve owns a .091 BAA, a 29% whiff rate, and a 33% putaway rate. Those rank best, second best, and best, respectively, among his arsenal.
Matz certainly is not a perfect pitcher, but this is a perfect matchup to exploit Boston’s weaknesses. He should be one of your primary pitching streamers for the coming week.
