Fantasy Baseball Prospect Report – Teams Begin Moving Top Prospects

Many teams that are out of the playoffs are going to start moving prospects around and calling up prospects to get some playing time in 2025. This weekend continued a massive wave of prospect news and movement. It probably won’t end anytime soon.

Disappointing teams like the Tampa Bay Rays, the Atlanta Braves, the Arizona Diamondbacks, and the Baltimore Orioles have some of the league’s top prospects lingering. Hopefully, their uneven seasons mean we see some of those faces on the move soon.

As players graduate to the Major Leagues, new names will always take their place as the season goes along, but for now, some prospects are just starting to get their first shots. All stats are as of games completed on August 10th. Today’s piece will focus on the most relevant prospect news from around the minor leagues, focusing on the biggest names in the 2025 Top 100 list and who has been moved up in a series of moves made by teams this weekend.

Now, with just about 40 games left for most teams in MLB, let’s take a look at some of the Top 100 prospects on the move in minor league ball right now.

Fantasy Baseball Prospect Report

Chase Dollander, COL, SP

The Rockies’ top pitching prospect was called back up for an August 11 start against St. Louis. He fared well, giving up just one run with five hits and three walks in five innings, while striking out five. While he still has a 6.21 ERA on the year thanks to some bad starts early in the season, Dollander might get a long look from the Rockies heading to the end of the season.

Dasan Hill, MIN, SP

The 2024 draft members are starting to make their way through their team’s systems now. Hill was selected 69th overall in 2024 and had a strong season in the Twins’ Single-A affiliate. He had a 2.77 ERA with 68 strikeouts in 52 innings, prompting a promotion to High-A Cedar Rapids this week.

Trey Yesavage, TOR, SP

Trey Yesavage got a promotion from Double-A to Triple-A this week, plus a vote of confidence that he might get a look in the major leagues before the end of the season. Overall, in the minor leagues this season, Yesavage has a 3.01 ERA with 134 strikeouts in just under 81 innings. This will be Yesavage’s fourth minor league stop this year.

Nate George, BAL, OF

Somehow, the Baltimore Orioles keep churning out incredible hitting prospects, and Nate George may be the next one (after Samuel Basallo). George is hitting .337 with 31 runs and 25 stolen bases this year in Single-A. He now gets a promotion to the Orioles’ High-A affiliate in Aberdeen. George is not a power hitter, but is a speedster who has no problem getting on base.

Michael Forret, BAL, SP

Michael Forret might have been the best starting pitching prospect in High-A Aberdeen this season. Forret has a 1.51 ERA with 76 strikeouts in 60 innings. Forret likely will not debut with the Baltimore Orioles until 2026, but he can now build some big momentum in AA before the end of the year.

Jonah Tong, NYM, SS

Speaking of dominant pitching prospects, Jonah Tong has been striking out everyone in AA this year, so he gets a bump up to AAA for the last six weeks of the season. Tong has 162 strikeouts in 102 innings. He will join top Mets’ prospect Brandan Sproat in AAA, as they look to form an elite tandem for years to come for New York.

Hurston Waldrep, ATL, SP

Because of a variety of injuries to Atlanta’s starting rotation, Hurston Waldrep came up from AAA and shut down the Miami Marlins over the weekend. He pitched six innings and allowed just one run while striking out six. There is now an indication that Waldrep will remain in the rotation so he can gain some valuable experience ahead of 2026. He will be a big part of the Braves’ pitching plans in the future, depending on what some of their veterans do this offseason.

Cooper Ingle, CLE, C

The Guardians have a couple of top prospects heading to AAA this week, and catcher Cooper Ingle is the first name to get the call. He is hitting .271 with nine home runs with more than 400 plate appearances in AA. Now he will move to AAA Columbus with an eye towards making the Guardians’ roster in 2026. Ingle is just 23 years old, so there is plenty of time to see how he handles AAA.

Travis Bazzana, CLE, 2B

The number one pick of the 2024 draft certainly took the scenic route to get here, but he finally got the promotion to AAA. Bazzana battled a litany of injuries this season and is only hitting .256 with five home runs as a result. But the Guardians have seen enough of him this season and in his college highlights to convince them he is still on the right path to becoming their everyday second baseman, perhaps by 2026.

Kyle Karros, COL, 3B

Third base prospect Kyle Karros was called up to the Rockies out of AAA for this weekend’s series, and he did not disappoint. Karros went 4-for-11 with two doubles and two walks. He also drove in three runs and scored twice. With no more Ryan McMahon around, Karros has a chance to play third base until the end of the season for Colorado. Since his call-up, he has started four games in a row, including Monday night.

Jett Williams, NYM, SS

Another of the Mets’ top prospects is hitting so well that he deserves a promotion. Williams was hitting .281/.390/.477 with 10 home runs and 32 stolen bases in his 96 games for AA Binghamton and now will be in AAA at Syracuse. Jett Williams is a potential leadoff man of the future for the Mets, and his combination of on-base ability and speed would be lethal at the top for years to come. He might need to switch to a different position if he wants a 2026 call-up. Francisco Lindor has shortstop on lockdown.
