Justin Rose, the victor from last week’s tournament, after a three-hole playoff with J.J. Spaun, moved up 21 places to fourth in the latest FedEx playoff standings. Notable players to miss out include Jordan Spieth and Aldrich Potgieter, who both started the tournament inside the top 50 but failed to capitalise on their positions.
Rory McIlroy will be back competing this week and, alongside Scottie Scheffler, will be the favourites to win. Scheffler finished tied third and continues his formidable form.
The BMW Championship won the Tournament of the Year award at last year’s ceremony, and marked the second consecutive year the tournament has won and the sixth overall.
The course sits on 962 acres of rolling hills, pastures, woods, and wetlands and is located northwest of Baltimore. It is a Par 70 and 7601 yards long.
Top 3 Favorites for the 2025 BMW Championship
Scottie Scheffler (+230)
The favourite this week, and we all know how good he is. Scott leads the stats in three strokes gained categories: approaching the green, off the tee and total strokes. Just warming up to win either this week or next, the only potential threats are Rory McIlroy and J.J. Spaun, but they are both over 2000 points behind.
Cameron Young (+3000)
The 28-year-old from Scarborough, NY, won his first PGA Tour event at the Wyndham Championships earlier this month. He then followed that up with a fifth at the St Jude Championship last week. His putting is his secret weapon, sitting in the top five for one-putt percentage and putting average. If he continues this form into this tournament, he can challenge the likes of Scheffler and McIlroy.
J.J. Spaun (+3000)
Winning his first major has empowered J.J. Spaun to play without fear. His final two rounds of 65 elevated him into a tie for first, and a play-off against the experienced Justin Rose. Despite losing on the third play-off hole, he remains one of the in-form players, with three runners-up and six top-ten finishes in 2025.
Hot Pick
Tommy Fleetwood (+2000)
Third time lucky for the Englishman? Leading into the final round at the St Jude Championship, Tommy’s one under par wasn’t enough to keep the lead, and the wait for his first win on the PGA Tour continues. More of a mental barrier now than ability, he is currently third in total strokes gained. It’s only a matter of time before he eventually wins.
Top Picks to Win
- Scottie Scheffler
- Rory McIlroy
- Xander Schauffele
- Tommy Fleetwood
- Patrick Cantlay
- Justin Thomas
- Ludvig Aberg
- J.J. Spaun
- Collin Morikawa
