MLB Injury Report – A Giant Loss

Welcome to the Fantrax MLB Injury Report for Monday, September 24, 2026. In today’s edition, the Giants have lost their biggest offensive weapon for the rest of the season; Aaron Judge isn’t yet an everyday player; and the Dodgers might be shorthanded on both sides of the ball for this week, with both Freddie Freeman and Roki Sasaki sidelined. You can read about all of this and so much more in the latest edition of the MLB Injury Report from Fantrax.

MLB Injury Report

Rafael Devers – 1B San Francisco Giants

This was a surprise for many reasons. First, Devers had been playing so well as of late, single-handedly keeping the Giants competitive in games and being an offensive force. Secondly, we hadn’t heard much about this or any other injury, as he hadn’t missed much time as a result. Kudos to him for playing through this injury for quite some time, but now comes the interesting part. There is belief that he will be ready to go for the start of the season, but it does complicate his offseason. Many players like to have the time off for preparation, rather than recovery. As for right now, the Giants are the number one team to stream against for the rest of the season.

Aaron Judge – OF New York Yankees

This is something to watch out for down the stretch. These are planned days of rest for Judge, as he works his way back to be built up to full strength for the playoffs. He’s not injured, nor is this considered a setback. Rather, it’s the Yankees preparing for the playoffs.

Royce Lewis – 3B Minnesota Twins

It’s unclear how severe this issue is, but given Lewis’ injury history, nothing should be overlooked here. The often-injured infielder has already eclipsed his career-high in playing time with 113 games played, 460 plate appearances, and 415 at-bats. He offers moderate four-category production while being a lag on batting average. This may be it for him, as any trip to the Injured List would be cutting his return date close to the end of the season. Stay tuned.

Kyle Bradish – SP Baltimore Orioles

Bradish had been dealing with this abdominal issue for quite some time, and now, late in the season, it had gotten to be too much to handle. He will have some imaging done today, and this will likely end his season. Even if the Orioles make the playoffs, this injury could be significant enough to warrant more than the minimum of fifteen days away. If that is the case, he will finish with a disappointing 7-14 record, a very pedestrian 4.12 ERA, and a disappointing 1.46 WHIP for the season.

Freddie Freeman – 1B Los Angeles Dodgers

Freeman has three hits in the month of September to go along with nine strikeouts, and it’s obvious that he’s not been himself for quite some time. The once durable and reliable slugger just turned 37, and, as someone even older than that, I can confirm that as you get older, your body doesn’t recover the way it once does. Hopefully a day or two of rest is all he needs to get well. That being said, the Dodgers have the playoffs in mind and may not be shy about using the next two weeks to get their ailing players ready.

Roki Sasaki – SP Los Angeles Dodgers

Sasaki is just about ready to return, but his original timeline is now delayed by a few days. It’s unclear why, but it is not believed that he suffered a setback. Keep an eye on what the Dodgers say, too, as to whether or not he will return as a starter or a reliever.

Los Angeles Dodgers – Team Update

Edwin Diaz was supposed to need just one more rehab appearance before being called back up to the Dodgers. However, surrendering five earned runs in less than an inning won’t do him any favors. Keep in mind, too, that there have been rumblings about him not getting high-leverage opportunities right away once he’s back, and now, with this poor outing, that could be even more true. What lies ahead, I’m not sure, but fantasy baseball managers shouldn’t give credence to him just because of his name value. As for Kris Bubic, keep him in mind for 2027 drafts as a late-round dart throw….if healthy.

Carlos Correa – 3B/SS Houston Astros

This week will be a key determining factor into if we will see Correa back with the Astros. Since the minor leagues close before the major leagues do, Houston has an opportunity to give Correa a chance to play in games and test out his healing ankle. If all is well, he may return shortly after that and give fantasy baseball managers around one week of gameplay. Additionally, keep an eye on where he plays. Should he start at second base (like the rumors suggest), he may qualify there for next season as well with enough games played…..on Yahoo at least. Finally, the Astros finish the season with four games in Sacramento, which is a nice hitter’s ballpark.

Trey Yesavage – SP Toronto Blue Jays

Yesavage threw two different bullpens last week, both of which were at least 30 pitches in length. The next step is for him to begin a rehab assignment, which begins tomorrow. It’s worth noting that the original timeline was for him to possibly return for the final week of the season. None of that has changed, making this all encouraging news.
