MLB Injury Report
Spencer Schwellenbach – SP Atlanta Braves
https://twitter.com/DOBrienATL/status/1940513562189074617
Schwellenbach was placed on the Injured List with a fracture in his elbow. He said in an interview with the press that it was his coronoid bone in his elbow, which is quite a freakish injury. The diagnosis is for him to be shut down for four weeks, with the hope that he will feel better at that time. The team is also hopeful that he will pitch again this season, but, as David O’Brien mentioned here, it all depends on how he heals. Notably, his UCL is intact and structurally sound, so there’s good news on that front. Essentially, this is all about the foundational structure of his elbow. This is a major blow to the Braves and for fantasy players everywhere. He was drafted to be one of the best fantasy players in the game, so he is also many teams’ best pitcher. With the Braves scuffling for wins and runs, there may not be another opportunity for him to return, especially if they won’t be making the playoffs. In redraft leagues, he is worth considering to drop, simply because he may have thrown his last pitch of the season.
Hunter Greene – SP Cincinnati Reds

Greene threw a total of 20 pitches in his outing, saying afterward that he felt strong out there. He will need to do this at least one more time, though the team may take a slower approach and have him do it more than that before a rehab outing. Since this is a recurring injury, he will more than likely need a rehab appearance, and it will almost certainly be of the multi-start variety. Look for him to return to the Reds after the All-Star Break.
Christian Moore – 2B Los Angeles Angels

Moore was in a lot of pain, and while the diagnosis here is “irritation”, we should find out more information closer to their game tomorrow. Luckily, they have a day off, and that might be all that he needs to get himself right.
Bo Bichette – SS Toronto Blue Jays
No Bo Bichette again for the Blue Jays but manager John Schneider said his shortstop is “feeling better today than he did yesterday.”
“He’s … going through a little bit more of a regular day and the hope would be that he'd be available today (off the bench) if we need him.” pic.twitter.com/ZbH2thGQRb
— Shi Davidi (@ShiDavidi) July 2, 2025
The peculiar part of this update was that it’s eerily similar to the one from the day prior, when Bichette also sat out. On Tuesday, he was feeling “extraordinarily better”, and yet on Wednesday, there was still an improvement. It’s an interesting choice of words, and the interest is only here simply because Bichette has had many lower-body issues in the past. The Blue Jays play today, and if he is absent yet again, then we may have a problem here.
Max Muncy – 3B Los Angeles Dodgers
Dave Roberts provides the latest update on Max Muncy after he suffered a scary knee injury at 3B today:
“Max is going to get an MRI tomorrow, a lot of the tests they did right now, we feel optimistic. Our hope is that it’s a sprain.”

This injury is not for the faint of heart, as Muncy’s knee can be seen in some camera views as going the wrong way. As manager Dave Roberts mentioned here, he will have an MRI, and the hope is that this is just a sprain. However, given Muncy’s reaction, it very well could be more than that. He will likely be out of the lineup until at least next Tuesday, a day after their off-day on Monday. Fingers crossed that he can avoid the Injured list.
Matt Chapman – 3B San Francisco Giants
Matt Chapman will hit on the field tomorrow, some live arm some high velocity machine – he’s itching to get back, “so far, so good with him,” Melvin says.
— Shayna Rubin (@ShaynaRubin) July 2, 2025
Chapman is doing everything that he can to get back on the field and play. Given his short injury history, it’s no wonder that he’s having difficulty sitting on the sidelines and watching his teammates play. That being said, the hope is that he isn’t pushing too hard, which could cause this injury to get worse. His batting practice today will be a big step forward if he can remain on this trajectory.
Luis Robert – OF Chicago White Sox
Luis Robert Jr. took BP and did some pregame running. He's on the IL with a left hamstring strain.
— Scott Merkin (@scottmerkin) July 3, 2025
All of this sounds great, but given his injury history, it remains to be seen if Robert will be back any sooner than expected.
Yordan Alvarez – OF Houston Astros
Yordan Alvarez was transferred to the 60-day IL to create a 40-man roster spot but that is procedural given the length of his absence already. https://t.co/awlU6uT7UX
— Matt Kawahara (@matthewkawahara) July 2, 2025
This move was merely a procedural one, as Alvarez has been out of action since the beginning of May. This doesn’t change his outlook, the outcome of his hand injury, and it doesn’t mean that his visit with the hand specialist will be anything different. We should find out more about his situation soon.
Wyatt Langford – OF Texas Rangers
Wyatt Langford took live batting practice today vs. Jon Gray and Josh Sborz and will rehab Thursday at Double A Frisco. He said he might play only one rehab game. #Rangers

This is good news for everyone involved, though Josh Sborz and Jon Gray are much farther back in their progression than Langford, who could be back this weekend.
Brandon Woodruff – SP Milwaukee Brewers
Brewers anticipate Brandon Woodruff will make his season debut on Sunday against the Marlins, Pat Murphy said.
