Welcome to the Fantrax MLB Injury Report for Monday, April 28, 2025. In today’s edition, Tyler Glasnow left yesterday’s game with right shoulder discomfort, Jordan Westburg missed yesterday’s game with a sore hamstring, and the Mariners have two of their best pitchers in Logan Gilbert and George Kirby, going in different directions recovery-wise. All of this and much more in today’s Injury Report from Fantrax.
MLB Injury Report
Tyler Glasnow – SP Los Angeles Dodgers
Tyler Glasnow left after 17 pitches today with right shoulder discomfort. #Dodgers
It appeared it happened during his final warm up pitch before 2nd inning.— David Vassegh (@THEREAL_DV) April 27, 2025
Glasnow lasted just one inning in his latest start, leaving with shoulder discomfort after an awkward warmup session in between innings. The team will likely have Glasnow undergo additional testing in the coming days and offer updates once they happen. Manager Dave Roberts said that a trip to the Injured List is “certainly possible,” indicating the severity of the situation already. Glasnow is someone with an extensive injury history, and returned this year with a possibly undiagnosed major elbow injury after having thrown his most innings in years. In addition to that, he had a lower leg injury in his last start, adding to the plethora of questions surrounding him in 2025. It feels ominous, but fantasy owners should do what the Dodgers are likely doing now, and look for alternatives for the near future.
Logan Gilbert – SP Seattle Mariners
More news on Logan Gilbert: He underwent an MRI today that revealed a mild flexor strain, classified as Grade 1 … He will not throw for the next two weeks and be re-examined at that time to determine next steps.
— Daniel Kramer (@DKramer_) April 26, 2025
After suffering from right forearm soreness on Friday, Gilbert was diagnosed with a mild flexor strain and will be shut down for the next two weeks. From there, he will be re-evaluated, and it’s anyone’s guess as to what will happen. While it’s difficult to wait, fantasy owners should use the extra roster spot to either find a solid option or to stream the best matchups with the hope that Gilbert will be able to return. Chances are, if he is able to return, he will need to ramp up somewhat and require a rehab assignment.
George Kirby – SP Seattle Mariners
George Kirby said the plan is for him to throw a live batting practice tomorrow, which would represent the first time that he's faced hitters since being shut down on March 7.
— Daniel Kramer (@DKramer_) April 27, 2025
Kirby successfully threw from a mound on Friday, and, with no recurring ailments or pain, he will progress toward a live bullpen session today. It’s a big day for him in that live batting practice is typically the last stage of progression before a rehab assignment. It usually takes multiple live bullpens for a pitcher and a team to feel confident in moving on, but how he performs along with how he heals afterward will be key in the decision-making.
Baltimore Orioles – Team Update
Jordan Westburg has a sore hamstring. Felt it yesterday. Adley Rutschman has a sore right hand after being hit in Game 2. Cedric Mullins has been ill last few days and played 18 innings yesterday. All available off bench. https://t.co/wHhjBLYYU9

Of the injuries listed here, Jordan Westburg’s is considered the most serious of the bunch. There were reports of Coby Mayo being given an opportunity if Westburg required a trip to the Injured List. That said, we will know more in the coming days. Fantasy baseball managers would be wise to have a viable replacement in their lineup for this week, just in case we find out after lineups lock. As for Adley Rutschman and Cedric Mullins, both should be back as soon as possible, with the possibility of missing a game or two this week.
Daulton Varsho – OF Toronto Blue Jays
Blue Jays notes:
◾️Daulton Varsho playing CF for triple-A Buffalo today and manager John Schneider said plan for him is "one more game and then, assuming all goes well, he'll be back Tuesday."
◾️Erik Swanson (forearm) is slated to begin a rehab assignment Tuesday at Dunedin

Be prepared!
Spencer Horwitz – 1B Pittsburgh Pirates
Pirates 1B Spencer Horwitz has completed his first rehab game with AA Altoona.
He finished 1-2 with a single, BB and fly out.#LetsGoBucs
— Austin Oravec (@AustinOravec) April 27, 2025
Horwitz has been working on his legs while rehabilitating, allowing him to make his wrist the only thing needed to improve. It’s this body part that saps power from the batter’s swing, and can make the timing of their plate presence a difficult thing to regain. He has less than three weeks to get back to the Pirates, and the team believes he will be able to do so without difficulty. A reminder, too, that he didn’t have a spring training, so he will need time to get his reps in.
Ketel Marte – 2B Arizona Diamondbacks
Ketel Marte packing in clubhouse. Confirmed he will play in Philly but not New York

The Diamondbacks begin their series in Philadelphia on Friday. It’s unclear if he will play then or when the series ends on Sunday. Regardless of that, this is great news.
Philadelphia Phillies – Team Update
Ranger Suarez threw 78 pitches this afternoon for the IronPigs in the fourth start of his rehab assignment. He struck out 8 over 4⅔ innings.
Brandon Marsh played 6 innings in CF. Otto Kemp stayed hot with his 7th HR, is hitting .313 with a .415 OBP.
— Corey Seidman (@CoreySeidman) April 27, 2025
Ranger Suarez seems all but ready to make his 2025 debut with the Phillies. He has been increasing his pitch count in all of his rehab outings, and his efficiency has been improving as well. With Christopher Sanchez likely needing time off, this will be a nice boost for the Phillies in dire need of late-rotation arms. As for Brandon Marsh, he continues to need time away, as he was also pulled from his game yesterday with a cramp. The team will examine him today and (hopefully) provide an update soon. Speaking of Sanchez, he was supposed to throw a bullpen yesterday, but he either failed to do so or the team didn’t report on it. Stay tuned.
