Welcome to the Fantrax MLB Injury Report for Thursday, August 28, 2025. In today’s report, the Brewers lost two of their biggest-name players for the time being and possibly the season, as Trevor Megill will miss at least two more weeks, while Logan Henderson’s season is over. Also, could Luis Robert Jr. have played his final game as a member of the White Sox? Read about all of this and so much more in today’s MLB Injury Report from Fantrax.

MLB Injury Report
Luis Robert Jr. – OF Chicago White Sox
Luis Robert has a grade 2 strain per Chris Getz. He'll be out weeks, possibly the rest of the season with time running out on 25. As far as the future, Getz strongly stated they remain committed to Robert.
— Scott Merkin (@scottmerkin) August 27, 2025
An unfortunate development here, as Robert will likely miss the rest of the season because of a major hamstring injury. His year probably ends here, and it will with a career-low batting average, but a career-high in stolen bases. It was a weird year for him, as he finished with 110 games played as well.
Colson Montgomery – SS Chicago White Sox
Colson Montgomery is still bothered by a sore left side. Imaging was clear per Getz but getting taken care of today.
— Scott Merkin (@scottmerkin) August 27, 2025
The good news here is that Montgomery’s imaging came back negative, so there likely isn’t any long-term damage here. Hopefully, he can recover within a couple of days and be ready to finish the 2025 season on a high note.
Trevor Megill – SP Milwaukee Brewers
Trevor Megill said imaging revealed a mild grade 1 flexor strain and he felt it after his last appearance (34 pitches). He hopes it’ll be close to the minimum IL time.
“My intentions are to be off on 15 (days) and I'm gonna do everything in my power to make that happen.”
— Sophia Minnaert (@SophiaMinnaert) August 27, 2025
While Megill’s optimism is great, the fact of the matter is that this has the potential to be a major injury if he rushes back too soon. He’s also had similar elbow injuries before, and while he says it doesn’t feel the same, there’s only so much an elbow can take before it subsequently breaks. While I’ve said many times that I am not a doctor, I can’t stress enough how dangerous rushing back can be for a pitcher, regardless of the injury.
Logan Henderson – SP Milwaukee Brewers
08/27/25
Milwaukee Brewers transferred RHP Logan Henderson from the 15-day injured list to the 60-day injured list. Right elbow inflammation.
— Brewers Alert (@BrewersAlerts) August 27, 2025
Henderson was previously on the Injured List for a flexor strain of his own and had just been cleared to begin slowly working his way back. Chances are that those exercises didn’t respond well enough, and the team noticed either that something terrible had gone wrong or that it was starting to get worse. Either way, he will finish the year in a somewhat disappointing fashion despite the low ERA and WHIP totals. He spent a lot of time in the Minor Leagues, and it’s quite possible that his arm was too used up by the innings spent there.
Yainer Diaz – C Houston Astros
Victor Caratini is in concussion protocol. César Salazar is catching Framber Valdez tonight. Yainer Diaz’s hand needs an extra day or two. Yordan Alvarez is DHing.
— Chandler Rome (@Chandler_Rome) August 27, 2025
Rome packed a lot of information into one compact post. Of note with injuries, it doesn’t appear that Diaz will need time on the Injured List, but his status will be something to monitor in the coming days.
Alejandro Kirk – C Toronto Blue Jays
Alejandro Kirk had an X-ray of his right hand after Tuesday’s game that returned negative. Sounds like it looked worse than it was.
— Arden Zwelling (@ArdenZwelling) August 27, 2025
Kirk’s negative X-rays give hope that his absence will be minimal. There hasn’t been much worry about him missing extensive time, and, as mentioned, it may have looked worse than it was at the time.
Jameson Taillon – SP Chicago Cubs
#Cubs place Jameson Taillon on the 15-day IL with a left groin injury. Javier Assad has been recalled. He will start Saturday in Colorado.
— Taylor McGregor (@Taylor_McGregor) August 27, 2025
This is unfortunate timing for both Taillon and the Cubs, as the 33-year-old will be gone from the team for the next two weeks. The belief is that this is very minor and his absence will be short and precautionary, though it’s something to monitor so close to the MLB playoffs and during the fantasy playoffs.
Ha-Seong Kim – SS Tampa Bay Rays
#Rays SS Ha-Seong Kim took infield ground balls today and looked comfortable after treatment for back inflammation. Kevin Cash said he's in a better spot and they're "happy with the progression". He's eligible to come off the IL in Washington.
— Ryan Bass (@Ry_Bass) August 27, 2025
Kim last played over a week ago and has since progressed to taking ground balls. He was subsequently shut down with back pain, but given what he was able to do yesterday, he might be able to ramp up and hurry back. It remains to be seen if and when he will require a rehab assignment.
