MLB Injury Report
Francisco Lindor – SS New York Mets
Carlos Mendoza says that Francisco Lindor will get an MRI either tomorrow or Thursday on his calf

Lindor’s MRI either today or tomorrow will be a big indicator of what the next steps will be for the Mets’ starting shortstop. The 32-year-old has been out of action for weeks now with a major calf injury, and the hope is that his being shut down from any lower-body activities would give enough time for some healing. We should know soon enough as to whether or not that happened.
Luis Robert Jr. – OF New York Mets
Luis Robert Jr. (lumbar spine disc herniation) continues to experience symptoms and "is not progressing the way we would like," Carlos Mendoza said.
Doesn't sound like Robert will be back anytime soon, giving A.J. Ewing potentially a long runway to establish himself in center.
— Anthony DiComo (@AnthonyDiComo) May 12, 2026
This is not surprising, in that Robert has battled through injuries throughout his entire career. The Mets believed that they had a formula for him to remain healthy by slowplaying his beginning of the season. It turns out that history has instead repeated itself, resulting in what could be a major injury with an extensive absence.
Francisco Alvarez – C New York Mets
Update: Francisco Alvarez exited tonight's game due to a right knee injury. He will undergo further testing tomorrow. https://t.co/VMZRSksmBD
— Anthony DiComo (@AnthonyDiComo) May 13, 2026
Alvarez injured himself while swinging a bat on Tuesday. That’s not something that usually ends up being a good sign, but the team will take some imaging today and send out updates. He will likely miss at least today’s game, and his injury history suggests even more time to be missed.
Cole Ragans – SP Kansas City Royals
Cole Ragans (elbow impingement) played catch Sunday and today. Manager Matt Quatraro said both went well but today's was better than Sunday, which is a good sign. Still day to day based on how he feels, but expectations is that Ragans will play catch again tomorrow. #Royals
— Anne Rogers (@anne__rogers) May 12, 2026
The good news here is that Ragans is seemingly getting better by the day. His latest session of catch was better than the last, which is a sign that he can handle that current workload. It remains to be seen when he can ramp himself up more than this, but for now, this is a good step in the right direction.
Milwaukee Brewers – Team Update
Some Brewers medical updates:
– Brandon Woodruff is scheduled to throw his first bullpen session on Thursday. A May return remains possible.
– Quinn Priester threw a 50p pen yesterday and is slated to restart a rehab assignment Saturday. Aiming for early June return to Majors.
— Adam McCalvy (@AdamMcCalvy) May 12, 2026
Great news here on both Brandon Woodruff and Quinn Priester; however, buyer beware here. Both have major red flags in their injury histories, both distant and recent, and are major risks to provide substantial fantasy benefits over a long-term period.
Boston Red Sox – Team Update
Contreras hit in the cage and feeling better but they’re giving him one more day
Anthony progessing but still no baseball activities. Full grip strength to grip a bat is his next test
Crochet also progressing and just began throwing off a mound. He’d gotten out to 120 on Sun
— Jen McCaffrey (@jcmccaffrey) May 12, 2026
Big news day here on three key pieces for the Red Sox. First, the easy one….it appears that Willson Contreras will be ready to return today. There were reports of him indicating he’d be back in today’s lineup, meaning that even if he needs more time, he’s close. As for Roman Anthony, he’s yet to be able to grip a bat, and the longer that this step takes, the more it will mean that he needs a rehab assignment. Finally, Garrett Crochet throwing from a mound is great news, though, given how long he’s been out of action, he may need a rehab start. Stay tuned.
Brandon Nimmo – OF Texas Rangers
Skip Schumaker said Brandon Nimmo sprained his ankle. X-rays were clear, but he’s going to be day-to-day.
— kennedi landry (@kennlandry) May 13, 2026
Nimmo rolled his ankle, causing him to exit Tuesday’s game early. The team took X-rays, which came back clean, but he does have a sprain. It’s unclear if he’ll need to head to the Injured List, but for now, the team is taking things day by day. We should have more updates throughout the rest of the week here, but they do have tomorrow off, so there’s an extra day of rest if needed.
Jacob Wilson – SS Sacramento Athletics
From A’s training staff: Jacob Wilson (left shoulder subluxation) will begin rehab to strengthen and stabilize shoulder before reintroducing baseball activities. No timetable for return.
— Martín Gallegos (@MartinJGallegos) May 12, 2026
The Athletics will lose their starting shortstop for what could be a significant period of time. Because it’s been diagnosed as such, his shoulder is partially dislocated, which could mean the absence will be extended. It’s a bummer that one of baseball’s best pure hitters can’t seem to stay healthy.
Sean Murphy – C Atlanta Braves
#Braves MGR Walt Weiss said they're anticipating an 8 week absence for Sean Murphy to heal properly. Then he'll have to get back up to baseball speed.
— Grant McAuley (@grantmcauley) May 12, 2026
After having returned from the Injured List, Murphy now heads back there for a different injury. This one, like his first, is a major one that will require an extended absence. If you had any doubts about Drake Baldwin being one of the best catchers in baseball before, he now gets a clear shot to take that title with minimal competition around him. Do I dare say he is a buy-high?
Ronald Acuna Jr. – OF Atlanta Braves
Braves manager Walt Weiss says that it will be “some time” before OF Ronald Acuña Jr will be back from his hamstring injury. He is eligible to come off the IL on Wednesday
— Barrett Sallee 🇺🇸 (@BarrettSallee) May 12, 2026
Acuna has some boxes to check before he’s reinstated, and while today is when he could be back, it seems unlikely that he will be back. All that being said, he is improving daily, but it would appear that this injury is more serious than what was first believed.
Spencer Schwellenbach – SP Atlanta Braves
Schwellenbach said he got a positive report from his latest checkup with the doctor last week, and should be able to start throwing soon https://t.co/TVGmmd5aAc
— Chad Bishop (@MrChadBishop) May 12, 2026
Slowly but surely, Schwellenbach is getting better. He has a ways to go, but beginning to throw is a major step forward.
