MLB Injury Report

Carlos Correa – 3B Houston Astros

The injuries continue to pile up here for the Astros, as they will seemingly lose a key piece to their lineup. Correa was having himself a good season with some power and a high batting average. Now, it would appear that he will be out of action for more than ten days, though nothing will be finalized until he meets with a foot specialist today. This injury is significant, not just for the potential time to be missed, but also because he has had major foot injuries in the past that have caused him to miss a lot of time. Just another unfortunate development for the Astros in what can be described as an unlucky and disastrous 2026 season.

Los Angeles Dodgers – Team Update

The biggest news here for the Dodgers is that Mookie Betts will play in a simulated game tomorrow, indicating that his body is seemingly ready to take on a bigger workload. Assuming all is well, he will likely need a short rehab assignment simply because he’s been off for so long, and his health is key to their potential run in the postseason. They would be wise not to rush him back, despite his potential pleas to do so. As for Tommy Edman, a setback here would delay his return. His upside isn’t great enough to warrant stashing him.

Milwaukee Brewers – Team Update

Big news day for the Brewers. First, Christian Yelich will take a big step forward in his recovery next week, when he advances to a lot more physical contact. If he can sustain this advancement, he should be ready for a rehab assignment shortly afterward. That said, the team is succeeding without him, so they may not rush his return and be as aggressive as they would have with a losing record. As for Brand Woodruff, the team will await the results of his hands-on assessment by Dr. Meister yesterday. There is the potential here for a significant injury, getting to the bottom of why his arm continues to feel “dead” at times. Finally, Jacob Misiorowski’s next start looks to be on track, which is a relief.

Joe Ryan – SP Minnesota Twins

I would have bet the farm that Ryan would have had season-ending surgery lined up by now. Instead, he’s on track to slowly return to action. For now, let’s keep an eye on how he feels during and after every progressive step forward that he takes, starting with this one.

Emilio Pagan – RP Cincinnati Reds

It’s never a good sign for a player to be carted off the field, and this was no exception. This injury happened a few weeks after he experienced tightness in the same hamstring, but both he and the team deemed that to be done and over with. Now, it would appear that he has reinjured himself in a significant way, as it’s already been determined that he will head to the Injured List. Let’s hope that this isn’t something that will keep him off the field until 2027. Stay tuned.

Roman Anthony – OF Boston Red Sox

This could have been a lot worse, as a hamate bone injury was definitely in play here. Instead, he will be day-to-day with a minor sprain, likely avoiding the Injured List. Let’s hope that he doesn’t try to play through it and make things worse.

Sonny Gray – SP Boston Red Sox

Be prepared!

Yainer Diaz – C Houston Astros

As mentioned here many times before, obliques are tricky to overcome, as they require time and patience for those injured. It’s unclear the severity of the situation, but even the mildest graded oblique injuries take multiple weeks. Christian Vazquez becomes a solid add in 15-team leagues.

Logan Webb – SP San Francisco Giants

There is no word on whether this will keep him out of action on the Injured List, or even push his next start back a bit. All we know is that this is a developing story that could mean something more than it does right now.

Jose Berrios – SP Toronto Blue Jays

First, the professional analysis: Berrios has been extra sore as of late, so the team wants to take some precaution and be sure that his recovery process is headed in the right direction. He had been ramping up toward a return, and the Blue Jays could use him. Now, the immature analysis: OF COURSE HE IS INJURED, AS HE WAS PITCHING WITH A FRACTURED ELBOW! WHAT DID THEY EXPECT, THE HEALING TO ACCELERATE WHILE HE WAS THROWING 90+ MPH??!?!

Gerrit Cole – SP New York Yankees

From the sounds of it, the Yankees and Cole will be utilizing as long a rehab assignment window as possible. A reminder too that his 30-day timeframe can also be extended, if need be, because he is coming off Tommy John Surgery. While nothing has been announced, the fact that he is “a little ways away” suggests that he may not be ready once the 30 days expire.
