MLB Injury Report – It’s Not Easy, Being Greene

Welcome to the Fantrax MLB Injury Report for Monday, August 11, 2025. In today’s report, we learned that Hunter Greene’s return to the Reds could be happening as soon as this week. Also, Roki Sasaki will begin his rehab assignment this week, and Cristian Javier will make his 2025 season debut for the Astros sooner rather than later. Read about all of this and so much more in today’s MLB Injury Report from Fantrax.

MLB Injury Report

Hunter Greene – SP Cincinnati Reds

Greene had a very successful outing this past weekend, hurling 5.1 innings of work and striking out seven batters. While he did surrender five runs, he still seems ready to return, and it looks like he will make his return this week. Rejoice for anyone who has him rostered.

Roki Sasaki – SP Los Angeles Dodgers

Great news here for Sasaki and the Dodgers, who will likely welcome him back mid-September, just in time for some final prep for the playoffs. That being said, three innings here would be a big load to start with, which could mean he’s in for a “less than 30-days” rehab assignment. Either way, this first start this week will be one to monitor.

Marcelo Mayer – SS Boston Red Sox

It is worrisome that he has not been able to clear the hurdle of resuming baseball activities. There is a chance that this is a season-ending injury and that the Red Sox will be without his services until next year. He is not to be forgotten in dynasty, but in redraft, fantasy players would be wise to move on.

Texas Rangers – Team Update

Evan Carter taking live batting practice today could signal that the much-anticipated rehab assignment could be right around the corner. As for Chris Martin, he continues to fight an uphill battle, having done so all season. Finally, Tyler Mahle’s return to the Rangers could happen at some point in September, but throwing off a mound next week could kickstart that plan into effect.

Milwaukee Brewers – Team Update

Big update here with some fantasy-relevant names. First, it appears that Jacob Misiorowski will be ready to be activated once eligible this week. Whether or not the Brewers want to take that plunge remains to be seen, as the team may opt to take things slowly here, given his value to their franchise in the future. Either way, it goes without saying that he is progressing quite well. As for Logan Henderson, given that he has a flexor strain, we may not see him pitch again this season. He has pitched an even 102.0 innings this year in both the majors and minors, and it’s unclear how cautious the team will be with his innings cap and pushing him back. As for Jackson Chourio and Rhys Hoskins, neither is expected back anytime soon, but it’s the former who should be back before the latter.

Brendan Donovan – 2B St. Louis Cardinals

Donovan has had minor ailments all season, but has been able to rebound nicely with small doses of rest here and there. Hopefully, this is another case of that.

Matt Vierling – OF Detroit Tigers

Vierling has had a tough time staying healthy in 2025, and oblique injuries, even when mild, can be difficult to overcome.

Byron Buxton – OF Minnesota Twins

Fantastic news for fantasy players everywhere, as they should be able to activate Buxton for this week, though they may not get a full week’s schedule of games. Hopefully he can pick things up where he left off.

Bryce Miller – SP Seattle Mariners

Miller has looked good thus far in his previous rehab outings, but the real test will be to see if he can endure enough to go 80+ pitches and still be efficient. If he is successful here, chances are his next appearance will be for the Mariners.

Cristian Javier – SP Houston Astros

Be prepared!

Ronald Acuna Jr. – OF Atlanta Braves

Acuna will also be traveling with the Braves, so there’s a chance that he will be activated at any time. All of these reports suggest that he’s as close to being ready as ever, so time will tell. It’s hard to know if he’ll play this week, but it’s worth taking a chance on it when deciding to set your lineups today.
