MLB Injury Report – Not a Great Day to be a Tampa Bay Ray

Welcome to the Fantrax MLB Injury Report for Friday, August 1, 2025. In today’s report, the Rays were dealt a triple-dose of injuries yesterday, as all of Chandler Simpson, Yandy Diaz, and Jonathan Aranda were all nicked up to some degree. Also, the Brewers may lose a superstar, while the Mariners could welcome back a familiar face. All of that and more in today’s MLB Injury Report from Fantrax.

MLB Injury Report

Jonathan Aranda – 1B Tampa Bay Rays

In an unfortunate turn of events, Aranda took a throw from third base, and Giancarlo Stanton ran into his left wrist, causing some recoil backward. He was in immediate pain, fell to the ground, and grasped at his wrist. He left the game early, and after the game, it was revealed that the X-rays he had come back negative, meaning that everything is structurally sound. However, the team did say that he would miss significant time, meaning that he would be placed on the Injured List. Aranda said that he had never felt this sort of pain before, so that could explain his reactions at the time of being hurt. However, his loss is a big one, given that he was breaking out in 2025.

Yandy Diaz – 1B Tampa Bay Rays

Yandy Diaz was hit by a pitch early in yesterday’s game. The good news is that he had X-rays, the results of which were negative, and that the ailment is limited to a forearm contusion. He is in the middle of a breakout season, so his presence in the lineup is necessary for the Rays to have any chance of competing for the playoffs.

Chandler Simpson – OF Tampa Bay Rays

There was some worry that Simpson would be gone for a significant amount of time, but it looks like he will miss a handful of games before returning. Hopefully, the time away can also be used to regain his ways, as he had been slumping at the plate as of late.

Shelby Miller – RP Milwaukee Brewers

Miller was dealt to the Brewers yesterday, even though he is currently on the Injured List. As mentioned here by Brewers’ reporter Curt Hogg, Miller has been throwing live bullpens and feels great. This was also the case, as reported by Diamondbacks’ reporter Jack Sommers, who also said the same thing and believed he would be back sooner rather than later. Miller gives the Brewers another option at the back end of their already deep bullpen.

Jackson Chourio – OF Milwaukee Brewers

This comes a day after Chourio believed that things would be okay. And while they still might be okay even now, the Brewers want to be as cautious as possible, given that there are only two months left in the season. Any intense running could cause his hamstring to become reaggravated, and intensify whatever injury he has going on right now. While it’s difficult right now for fantasy players, it’s the right call for the real-life Brewers.

Roki Sasaki – SP Los Angeles Dodgers

It would appear that his latest bullpen session went smoothly without issue, as that was his last hurdle before facing live batters. From here, he will progress toward a rehab assignment, but there is still no timetable for that or a return to the Dodgers. A September return seems likely here.

Bryce Miller – SP Seattle Mariners

The report also stated that Miller would be set for 55 pitches in this outing, which could signal a quick turnaround into a return to the Mariners’ rottation. A reminder that he has an elbow issue that he will be managing this season before (probably) trending toward offseason surgery. However, with the Mariners in a full-blown push for the playoffs, it appears that all hands are on deck here to have him return and help as best he can. That being said, it’s difficult to feel confident in trusting him to be good and consistent enough to help fantasy teams right now.

Josh Jung – 3B Texas Rangers

Jung missed last night’s game, but the hope is for him to return at some point this weekend. Stay tuned.
