MLB Injury Report
Los Angeles Dodgers – Team Update
Updates, per Dave Roberts:
-Shohei Ohtani hit off the tee today.
-Andy Pages hit off the machine today. Tomorrow he'll hit off the Trajekt machine.
-Roki Sasaki will throw another live tomorrow and could return to action over the weekend — TBD to start or pitch in relief.— Sonja Chen (@SonjaMChen) September 15, 2026
Good news here: Shohei Ohtani was able to hit from a tee yesterday. Whether or not he feels anything negative afterward remains to be seen, but he is at the point where he can at least maintain some level of baseball activity. A reminder that he is on the 15-day Injured List and, as such, he won’t be able to return until the final weekend of the season at the earliest. As for Andy Pages, he did swing from a tee about a week ago, and this progression to the Trakjet machine does show that he is making headway. He still has at least another week before he’s at the beginning of his original 4-5 week return-to-play timeline, which is great news. That said, expecting much from him during the rest of the regular season wouldn’t be something to rely on. Finally, Roki Sasaki will have a big day today, as the team will watch him throw and decide what his role will be going forward. He is essentially ready to return, but the team doesn’t know how.
Jesus Luzardo – SP Philadelphia Phillies
After Jesus Luzardo didn’t throw for two days, the Phillies hoped the inflammation would be out of his left shoulder. That wasn’t the case. Don Mattingly didn’t rule out Luzardo making a start in the playoffs.

This is concerning. He was three days removed from being scratched from his last scheduled start because of stiffness and inflammation in his shoulder. The pain and discomfort weren’t going away, so the Phillies chose to place him on the Injured List to help give him the time needed to hopefully make it all go away. It’s too soon to know if he’ll be ready to return when eligible on the last day of the season, and if he’ll be able to continue in the playoffs. Sad to say, but he can be dropped in all redraft leagues.
Pete Fairbanks – RP Miami Marlins
Marlins officially placed Pete Fairbanks on the IL

Fairbanks will head right back to the Injured List for something that has plagued him in the past, not just this year, but in prior seasons as well. This is a condition that he was born with and that will unfortunately be with him whenever he attempts to pitch. Hopefully there is something that can be done to help manage or minimize the damage, as you could clearly see his frustrations as he was walking off the field when he was pulled from the game.
Trey Yesavage – SP Toronto Blue Jays
Trey Yesavage pitched in a rehab game tonight, going 0.2 innings while allowing two hits and a walk. He threw 34 pitches (23 strikes).
Per the data from Buffalo, Yesavage sat 93.3 m.p.h. with his fastball, topping out at 94.4.

Tough first inning back, but in reality the Jays are likely more concerned with his velocity than anything. For context, as a member of the Blue Jays this year, his fastball average is 94.3 miles per hour, so being one mile off isn’t that bad at all. The team has always wanted him to pitch during the last week of the season, and coming back by this time next week is still on the table. He’s worth a speculative add if possible.
Anthony Santander – OF Toronto Blue Jays
Santander considered day to day with the discomfort per John Schneider https://t.co/n4QkmSGGzR
— Ben Nicholson-Smith (@bnicholsonsmith) September 15, 2026
To anyone hoping to get Santander back for a week of help off the bench, he likely is done for the year and can work on finally producing for the Jays in 2027.
CJ Abrams – SS Washington Nationals
CJ Abrams was scratched with neck tightness. James Wood was going to have tonight off all along but would be available off the bench. Otherwise, tonight’s lineup decisions were matchup-based vs Cristopher Sánchez.
— Mark Zuckerman (@MarkZuckerman) September 16, 2026
It’s unclear how serious this issue is, but it warranted time off last night. If he does in fact need time on the Injured List, it will very well likely end his season. For now, let’s consider him day-to-day, and hope it was just something that he woke up feeling.
Cleveland Guardians – Team Update
Guardians injury updates:
Chase DeLauter (wrist) came in sore today after feeling something in his last AB on Monday. He's day to day.
Angel Martinez (flank) avoided a serious injury and is also day to day.
— Tom Withers (@twithersCLE) September 15, 2026
The good news here is that it appears both Chase DeLauter and Angel Martinez should be back in the lineup soon enough and with plenty of time to help the Guardians possibly win the American League Central.
Kaelen Culpepper – SS Minnesota Twins
Postgame, @twins mgr Derek Shelton said Kaelen Culpepper felt his left hamstring tighten running out of the batter's box in the 6th. He'll get an MRI tomorrow, Shelton said. "Honestly, it sucks," he said, given how well Culpepper's played . 1/
— Pat Borzi (@BorzMN) September 16, 2026
Fingers crossed that the results of this MRI reveal that there is no serious damage done to Culpepper’s hamstring. The next two weeks were supposed to be his opportunity to get some substantial Major League experience heading into next season. He has done well thus far, and may have already earned himself a spot on next year’s roster. That being said, so any long-term absence doesn’t help.
Carlos Correa – 3B/SS Houston Astros
Espada said Carlos Correa did not have a setback but: “The buildup the last couple of days has really kind of been tough on his leg, it’s kind of created some soreness and stuff like that …The focus will be to have Carlos be ready to go 100 percent next spring training.”
— Matt Kawahara (@matthewkawahara) September 15, 2026
This was a disappointing end to the story, as for a while it was believed that the veteran would return this season. However, the team reported that it was too much for him and that the work to get him back caused too much buildup and additional soreness. He will focus on getting himself ready for the start of the 2027 season. It’s too bad because he could have given the Astros a spark to possibly win the American League West.
Washington Nationals – Team Update
Connelly Early is making a rehab start tonight for Rochester. Josiah Gray continues to rehab there out of the bullpen. DJ Herz will complete his rehab with the Nationals (still on the IL).
— Mark Zuckerman (@MarkZuckerman) September 15, 2026
If healthy, these are three capable pitchers who can help the Nationals continue their resurgent ways in 2027. The biggest name, Connelly Early, seems well on his way to doing that, and the rest of this season can be his gateway.
