Welcome to the Fantrax MLB Injury Report for Friday, May 1, 2026. In today’s edition, the Brewers are playing the waiting game on Brandon Woodruff’s MRI, the Mets may be waiting a long time for Luis Robert to return from his injury, and the Phillies may not have to wait much longer for Jhoan Duran to make his return to their bullpen. You can read about all of this and so much more in today’s MLB Injury Report from Fantrax.

MLB Injury Report
Brandon Woodruff – SP Milwaukee Brewers
The Brewers are going to give Brandon Woodruff some time off, Pat Murphy said. Unsure of an IL move or not yet. Woodruff will undergo testing and imaging, but says he didn’t feel injured during the outing.
— Curt Hogg (@CyrtHogg) April 30, 2026
Woodruff lasted only a total of 21 pitches on Thursday, as his fastball was averaging just 85 miles per hour. That is a significant drop in velocity from where he’s been all season, where he’s been able to sustain close to 93 miles per hour. On top of that, yesterday’s outing saw him throw TEN MILES PER HOUR less than what we once saw from him before his injury in 2023. This is a major development and something that could be a precursor to a significant injury. A reminder that he came back after anterior capsul surgery last year, and that injury alone warrants worry for pitchers to regain their prior velocity. Given his advanced age (in baseball terms), it was an incredible feat that he found success last year.
Luis Robert – OF New York Mets
Luis Robert Jr. will be down for 7-10 days after getting an injection today, Carlos Mendoza says. The hope is this will be a short-term stint on the IL for him.
“He’s super frustrated. … he’s done everything we’re asking him to do, trying to protect him.”

This went from a day-to-day ailment to something that could warrant an extended absence. The typical return to play for a herniated disc in baseball is multiple months, with extreme cases taking more time than what’s left on the schedule this season. Whether or not that happens remains to be seen, as the team believes it will be a minor injury. Still, Robert has an extensive injury history, with a lot of that time away being due to the fact that he’s a slow healer. In the meantime, MJ Melendez figures to be given a chance to show that he is not a complete bust and a possible post-hype sleeper. He is worth a shot in the deepest of leagues.
Carlos Rodon – SP New York Yankees
Carlos Rodón pulled after 75 pitches (51 strikes) with 1 out in the 6th.
As it stands now, his line is this: 5.1 innings, 5 hits, 1 run, 0 walks, 8 strikeouts.
He generated 15 swing-and-misses and only had one 3-ball count. Looks big-league ready. #Yankees
— Greg Johnson (@gregp_j) May 1, 2026
Rodon has been electric throughout his rehab assignment, but it would appear that one more start is needed before he makes his 2026 debut. For context, his fastball sat around the 92 – 94 miles per hour mark, which is lower than his average of last year, so one more start might be what’s needed to get that to where it needs to be.
Jhoan Duran – RP Philadelphia Phillies
Jhoan Duran (oblique) is throwing a bullpen session today for the first time since his injury. He’s been on IL for 16 days. Phillies are optimistic about his progress.
— Matt Gelb (@MattGelb) April 30, 2026
Interestingly, Matt Gelb mentioned the sixteen days away, as there have been some unconfirmed rumblings that Duran would be returning any day now. While those reports aren’t substantial enough to give fantasy managers confidence that he will be imminently activated, they should give those same managers the notion that they will need to either stash or make room for him in the coming days.
Jackson Holliday – 2B Baltimore Orioles
Jackson Holliday expects to begin another rehab assignment next week. He's been working out at Camden Yards #orioles
— Roch Kubatko (@masnRoch) April 30, 2026
There was some worry earlier in the week about this injury, as there had been a long period of silence regarding any progress on his hand. Now that we know he will be returning to the rehab lineup soon, it’s a sign that any pain has likely subsided to the point where he can get on with getting himself ready for the season.
Trevor Rogers – SP Baltimore Orioles
Trevor Rogers has the flu, manager Craig Albernaz says. He stayed home the last two days throwing up and Orioles had to make the call to put him on IL.
Albernaz expects him back as soon as the minimum 15 days are up.
— Matt Weyrich (@ByMattWeyrich) April 30, 2026
From the sound of it, Rogers is just sick, and with his next start being close enough, the decision was made to give him seven days off.
Alejandro Kirk – C Toronto Blue Jays
Alejandro Kirk (thumb) has resumed throwing at Blue Jays player development complex in Dunedin
First step of many as he works his way back from thumb surgery
— Arden Zwelling (@ArdenZwelling) April 30, 2026
Great news here, as there had been silence for quite a while. Now we know that he is able and ready to start throwing again, which is the first step in his road to recovery. It’s unclear whether he can grip a bat and take swings, but that should come soon enough.
Addison Barger – 3B Toronto Blue Jays
Addison Barger will run the bases tomorrow and then play for low-A Dunedin on Sunday, said manager John Schneider. Could be two, three games, depends on what he needs. A return to Blue Jays next homestand is possible.
— Shi Davidi (@ShiDavidi) April 30, 2026
Good news that Barger appears to be days away from returning to the lineup. Be prepared!
Michael Harris II – OF Atlanta Braves
Michael Harris II will DH most of this road trip if his quad doesn’t get any worse. But he could go on the IL, if there’s not any improvement
— Mark Bowman (@mlbbowman) April 30, 2026
Harris suffered the injury over a week ago and has missed some time since while managing the pain. While he has been in the lineup, it’s obvious that the team is worried about long-term ramifications and would also like him back in the outfield for defensive purposes. Look for a decision to be made at some point this weekend, with the hope that fantasy managers will know whether or not to start him next week.
Sean Murphy – C Atlanta Braves
Sean Murphy likely to rejoin the Braves in Seattle, says Walt Weiss
