The Tampa Bay Rays finished the 2024 season just shy of a .500 record, which was good for fourth in the division. In a tough AL East, however, even a couple of games can feel like a very large hill to climb. While the Rays pitching staff is notorious for being able to hold their own, it was the lineup that needs a boost heading into 2025 if the Rays want to move up in the division standings. Luckily, many of the Tampa Bay Rays prospects are position players who have at least some experience in Double-A, which means they may get internal lineup help at some point soon.
Just like pitching, the Rays have a reputation of having a good farm system. That is no different now, with six players ranked in the top 100 in our recently updated Top 600 Prospects.
Top 20 Tampa Bay Rays Prospects for Dynasty Leagues
1. SS Carson Williams, Age: 21
In our recently updated Top 600 Prospect Rankings, Carson Williams sits at number 15. The 28th overall pick in 2021 is coming off a season where he hit 20 home runs and stole 33 bases at the Double-A level. Williams has power and speed, and is known for his defensive chops. His hit tool, however, is not as much of a sure thing. He struck out at a 28.5 percent clip, which is one of the lowest marks at any level over the course of his career. There is incredible potential with Williams, who should take on Triple-A in the upcoming year. If he reaches his star potential, he will be a coveted fantasy shortstop.
Rays SS prospect Carson Williams has been spectacular, hitting .346/.426/.631 with just a 24% K-rate–down 8% from his career average–while getting his first extended taste of Double-A. There's some clear mechanical adjustments that back his torrid start to the year🧵 pic.twitter.com/cLcWK4Luqy

2. 1B Xavier Isaac, Age: 21
A year after taking Williams, the Rays selected power-hitting prep Xavier Isaac, who came out of the gate with excellent walk rates and power. We have him ranked 40th in the Top 600 update. In 2024, he finished the year with 31 games in Double-A where he slashed .211/.346/.349 with a 40.6 percent strikeout rate. While that is an alarming number, much of his professional track record says it’s just a blip. His believers think Isaac will bounce back with his hitting ability and his massive power upside will obviously play. As a first base prospect, he has extra pressure on his bat, but he has all the tools to meet these lofty expectations. He likely returns to Double-A in 2025.

3. OF Aidan Smith, Age: 20
The Rays traded Randy Arozarena to the Mariners in return for a package that included Aidan Smith. As a 19-year-old in Single-A, Smith hit .288 with 11 home runs and 41 steals between his two organizations. So far professionally he’s been able to do a little bit of everything a fantasy baseball manager would want. He’s provided average, along with a .401 OBP, while stealing a lot of bases and hitting double-digit home runs. Entering 2025, he will look to continue to show his offensive versatility against High-A competition.

4. RHP Gary Gill Hill, Age: 20
It was a breakout year for Gary Gill Hill, who threw 108.2 Single-A innings with an 8.70 K/9 and a 3.15 ERA at just 19 years old. There is more projection for Gill Hill, who should get a chance at High-A next season. He boasts very good command. Armed with a mid-90s fastball along with a solid slider, he has the chance to progress toward being a very productive MLB rotation arm. There is still risk associated with Gil Hill because he’s still a few years out from debuting, but his age-to-level success from 2024 is very exciting.

5. 1B Tre’ Morgan, Age: 22
Most first basemen build their fantasy worth with the ability to hit the long ball. Tre’ Morgan is not most first baseman. He has exceptional bat-to-ball skills that keep his strikeouts down, and enough pickiness to keep his average up. While he should be able to get to double-digit home runs, power won’t be his main contribution to fantasy lineups. Morgan has the skills to contribute to average and OBP leagues and even add some steals from a position that doesn’t usually do that. If he can continue to build up his power, he becomes an even more interesting dynasty and real-life prospect for the Rays.
Tre' Morgan is a fun hitter to watch.
The former @LSUbaseball star has barrel command and bat speed.
And we think more power could be on the way.

6. 3B/SS Brayden Taylor, Age: 22
My ranking of Brayden Taylor is low compared to consensus, but that has more to do with the players in front of him. The Rays 2023 first-rounder has a good all-around game that helped him to a 20-HR and 29-SB season between High-A and Double-A. Most of it was spent at the former level. When all is said and done he could be an everyday second baseman for the Rays with a bag of fringe-to-average tools, meaning he will be able to do a little bit of everything well, without necessarily standing out a ton in any category.

7. RHP Santiago Suarez, Age: 20
Santiago Suarez originally was a member of the Marlins organization before being dealt to Tampa Bay in 2022. He just completed his age-19 season, where he struck out 115 batters while walking only 21 on his way to a 4.11 ERA in 111.2 innings in Single-A. Suarez has a mid-90s fastball with a solid curveball and changeup, but his calling card is his impeccable ability to fill up the zone. As a 20-year-old he will get a chance in High-A where he could begin to move quickly if he continues to miss bats and limit walks.
Rays RHP prospect Santiago Suarez tossed his second straight scoreless outing last night.

8. RHP Brody Hopkins, Age: 22
Brody Hopkins represents a second player from the Arozarena return package to be among the top-10 Rays prospects. He has a funky arm angle and regularly sits in the mid-90s. Hopkins compliments that with a very good, bat-missing slider. This past season was his professional debut, where he combined for a 10.41 K/9 and a 3.05 ERA in 115 innings between two levels and two teams. He was very effective in both Single-A and High-A and should get a chance to move to Montgomery in 2025. His pitch mix is enough to remain a starter if he can throw enough strikes.
Brody Hopkins continues to dominate with eight strikeouts across six scoreless innings 🔥

9. OF Brailer Guerrero, Age: 18
The Rays spent a little shy of $4 million during the 2023 international free-agent period to sign Brailer Guerrero. He has had some health issues, but when healthy in 2024 he slashed .330/.452/.466 with a pair of home runs and 13 steals. That performance came in 126 plate appearances on the Complex. For dynasty leagues, Guerrero could turn into a legitimate power threat from the outfield position. Entering 2025 he may get a chance at the Single-A level, but he will need to stay on the field.

10. RHP Jackson Baumeister, Age: 22
Tampa Bay made several moves at the deadline and they were able to bring in some intriguing players in the process. When trading Zach Eflin, one of the players they got in return was Jackson Baumeister. At a glance, Baumeister is a pitcher with good stuff, particularly his curveball, who just joined a good pitching development organization. He threw 99.2 innings with a 2.53 ERA and 135 strikeouts at High-A in 2024. Walks were an issue, but if he can hone in his command with his new organization, he has the arsenal to be a very interesting pitching prospect because of his ability to miss bats.

11. OF Chandler Simpson, Age: 24
A popular name towards the end of the 2024 season, Chandler Simpson stole 104 bases between High-A and Double-A. For fantasy purposes, that speed is extremely helpful, especially when he hits .355. Simpson can draw some walks and he gets his bat to the ball well, but there is no power. His speed will make him valuable in fantasy baseball but don’t expect any power output. His single home run since joining the pro ranks in 2022 was an inside-the-park home run that came during this past season.

12. RHP Trevor Harrison, Age: 19
Of anyone on this list so far, Trevor Harrison has the potential for the biggest rise. The Rays 2023 fifth-rounder had a 10.78 K/9 in 72.2 innings of work, reaching as high as Single-A. His fastball already tops out in the mid-’90s and he showed the ability to throw strikes. It was an excellent debut season. Listed at 6-foot-4 and 225 pounds, Harrison has a starter’s frame to build on. Another year of missing bats, likely at the High-A level, will make him a consensus add in dynasty leagues.

13. OF Theo Gillen, Age: 19
It’s not often that a first-round pick doesn’t crack the top 10 for an organization in the year they are drafted, but that’s the Rays for you. After being the 18th overall pick, Gillen hit .154 in a very small eight-game sample size. He should go back to Single-A in 2025, where he debuted last season. The Rays don’t shy away from taking high school players, and they have a track record of success. Gillen has a very good chance of being the next up in that line. For fantasy, he is a good runner with the chance for above-average power and an above-average hit tool. How he performs next season could move him up the list quickly.

14. RHP Yoniel Curet, Age: 22
Yoniel Curet has very loud stuff and is on the Rays 40-man roster already. After starting 26 games in High-A and Double-A with a 12.03 K/9, and posting a 2.95 ERA, Curet’s big stuff might allow him to debut at some point during the 2025 season. His mid-90’s fastball and plus slider miss a lot of bats. His changeup will need to take a step forward, as will his command. There is reliever risk with Curet, but he has the stuff to succeed in a backend bullpen role which helps him to hold value in dynasty leagues.
Yoniel Curet (6 IP, 1 R, 8 K) racks up at least eight strikeouts for the 10th time this season 🔥

15. LHP Ian Seymour, Age: 26
The Rays protected Ian Seymour from the Rule 5 Draft by adding him to their 40-man roster this offseason. Without injuries early on in his career, he may already have debuted. In 2024 Seymour made 27 starts with a 2.35 ERA with a 10.03 K/9 in the upper minors. His fastball sits in the low90s, but his crown jewel is a very nice changeup that can generate plenty of whiffs. It stands to reason that a really good Spring could force Seymour into Tampa Bay’s rotation out of camp, but in all likelihood, he will return to Triple-A to start the season.

16. RHP Dylan Lesko, Age: 21
Another exciting arm Tampa Bay traded for at the deadline this year was Dylan Lesko. The Padres 2022 first-rounder has fallen from grace because of very high walk numbers. In his career, Lesko has a 152:97 K:BB in 117 innings since debuting in 2023. That also comes with a career 6.54 ERA. There are a lot of warts with his performances to this point. However, with all those whiffs there is something to cling to. If the Rays help Lesko to cut down the walks, Lesko could turn out to be a real deadline steal.

17. 3B Mac Horvath, Age: 23
Another player in the Zach Eflin return was former 53rd overall pick Mac Horvath. In his first full season in 2024, Horvath slashed .229/.318/.406 with 13 home runs and 35 stolen bases a the High-A level. While he played mostly third base, he also spent time at second base and in left field. If he continues to play multiple positions, that eligibility will add some extra value to a player who can add some steals to a fantasy lineup.

18. OF Colton Ledbetter, Age: 22
Tampa Bay’s 2023 second-rounder showed a lot of positives in 2024 as a 22-year-old in High-A. Colton Ledbetter slashed .273/.339/.484 with 16 home runs and 34 stolen bases. He’d rank higher within the organization if not for a 28.3 percent strikeout rate. If he can start to make more contact then he has the skills to rise quickly. There are a lot of really exciting skills with Ledbetter if he hits consistently at higher levels in the minor leagues. He has the potential to add both power and speed for fantasy managers.

19. C Dominic Keegan, Age: 24
After hitting .285 with an 11.3 percent walk rate, Dominic Keegan finds himself just inside the top 20 Rays dynasty prospects. That being said, a little more power would go a long way toward making him a viable fantasy catcher. He did hit nine home runs last season, and 13 the year before. If Keegan can hit for average and provide some pop then he could turn into a solid backstop option in some fantasy formats.
Dominic Keegan launched this homer 114.5 mph off of the bat on a pretty well-located Robby Snelling changeup. He followed up his huge 2023 with another strong season this year, but it feels like it has flown under the radar. 137 wRC+.

20. 1B Will Simpson, Age: 23
When the Rays traded Jeffery Springs to the Athletics, they acquired Will Simpson as part of the return package. Simpson has played as high as Double-A, slashing .282/.378/.482 with 18 home runs last season. He showed a solid ability to hit, which has helped his power to play up also. While he does the offensive skillset to be fantasy-relevant, reps at first base will be hard to come by between Isaac and Morgan. Simpson did play a handful of games at third base with the Athletics, which could be in Simpson’s future with Tampa Bay.
With Will Simpson now in Double-A, here's a taste of the power he displayed for the @LansingLugnuts.
