Top 400 Rankings for the 2026 Fantasy Baseball Season (March 15 Update!)

I don’t know about most of you, but the past few months have felt like they have lasted forever. It was hard to get super excited about football season when your team starts 0-7 and then openly decides to tank for the rest of the season, only to land the second pick in a draft with (presumably) one franchise quarterback. As I write this, snow falls as the wind chill temperature prepares to plummet into negative numbers. This is on top of the two feet of snow we received a couple of weeks ago, which has yet to melt. But the 2026 Major League Baseball season is just six weeks away. That means there is at least some light at the end of the tunnel, as it were.

The squad here at FantraxHQ has been plugging away for quite a while with plenty of content for fantasy baseball managers of all skill levels and for formats and leagues of all shapes and sizes. Even if you are getting back into the fantasy baseball waters, we have you covered. We have much more in the coming weeks to help you dominate the competition this season. With that in mind, below are my first set of Top 400 rankings for the 2026 fantasy baseball season. I based these rankings on traditional 5×5 Roto categories.

Rankings are, of course, subjective, and mine will surely change between now and Opening Day. There are several factors that will take place over the next six weeks that will alter the rankings. There are still many relevant players who have yet to sign contracts for the 2026 MLB season. Of course, a player signing with a particular team has a domino effect that will impact more than just that player. And oftentimes, other players will be more affected than the player who signs. If Arizona brings Zac Gallen back into their rotation, I will not change his ranking too much. But his presence would likely bump Michael Soroka from the rotation, which means whatever little fantasy value he had will likely be erased.

Plenty of positional battles will be won and lost in Spring Training. For fantasy purposes, the biggest swings in fantasy value are most likely to be on the pitching side of the equation. If Justin Crawford belly flops in Spring Training, I might bump Nick Castellanos and/or Brandon Marsh up a few spots. But I do not think either becomes a must-start player in Roto leagues.

However, if Emmet Sheehan cannot secure a spot in the rotation for the Los Angeles Dodgers, my current ranking of him will be way off. Of course, the closer carousel is likely to claim a few casualties between now and Opening Day. There is historically no greater difference from a fantasy perspective between players of similar skill sets than that of a closer versus a non-closer.

With all that out of the way, enjoy my current Top-400 for the 2026 fantasy baseball season. I will formally update these about a week or two before the Major League season begins. In the meantime, feel free to comment below with players you think I am too high or low on. You can also find me on the Twitter machine or on Bluesky. I just added the Bluesky profile this week, so don’t mind the lack of activity on there so far. Make sure you follow the rest of the FantraxHQ crew on socials as well.
