Here is the Fantrax Injury Report for Wednesday, March 29, 2023.
The season is not quite here yet, but why not get a head start and jump in a Fantrax Classic Draft contest? Get a jump on the season with a Best Ball league or maybe a Draft and Hold. Or put some green on the line with a new season-long league to try and conquer. There’s no better time than now to get your baseball on!
Fantrax Injury Report for March 29
Adalbero Mondesi – SS Boston Red Sox
To add to this, it appears as if Adalberto Mondesi (acl) will move to the 60-day IL to free up space for Tapia on the 40-man roster. Nothing final, but that’s where it’s trending. https://t.co/afNXXjxtzG

Huge development here, as Mondesi was once considered an option to start the season healthy. Still, it was always thought of as a stretch to have him ready for Opening Day. This takes it one step further, however. If he is placed on the 60-day Injured List, he won’t be ready until at least June. Mondesi has a history of slow(er) recovery times.
Randal Grichuk – OF Colorado Rockies
Grichuk did all of this as well as some fielding too. His return has been delayed somewhat due to scar tissue related to the surgery. However, if his latest work on the field was a success and his body holds up, he could be back on the field shortly after the season begins.
Lance McCullers Jr. – SP Houston Astros
The Astros will need to make two 40-man roster moves for César Salazar and Corey Julks. Putting Jose Altuve on the 60-day IL is a pretty obvious one. Asked if Lance McCullers Jr. is a 60-day IL candidate, Dana Brown said "right now, I don't know that."

Placing McCullers on the 60-day Injured List seems long, but not unlikely. Doing so would open up a 40-man roster spot, but it would also ensure that he’s not ready until June. A lot of their decision would likely depend on the long-term status of Hunter Brown too.
Hunter Brown – SP Houston Astros
Hunter Brown is scheduled to throw a simulated game tomorrow at Minute Maid Park and is on track to start the season without issue.

All is well that ends well. Assuming that his simulated game goes without any problems, look for Brown to be at the back end of that rotation. Great news for owners everywhere.
Griffin Canning – SP Los Angeles Angels
Tucker Davidson has made the team. Griffin Canning has felt something in his groin since yesterday.
— Sarah Valenzuela (@Sarah_IsabelVee) March 29, 2023
Canning has had trouble staying on the field since his earlier days. He had been having a tremendous spring and looked to have the inside track toward the sixth rotation spot. He may now have to sit and watch Tucker Davidson take that position. No word yet on if an Injured List designation is in the cards.
Tyrone Taylor – OF Milwaukee Brewers
Taylor has not been able to get himself right. His elbow just hasn’t healed as well as the team and he would have hoped. For now, Brian Anderson remains their best option and, when healthy, can produce.
Rhys Hoskins – 1B Philadelphia Phillies
Phillies first baseman Rhys Hoskins will undergo left ACL reconstruction surgery on Thursday, 3/30 in Fort Worth, TX preformed by Dr. Steve Singleton.
— Philadelphia Phillies (@Phillies) March 28, 2023
Hoskins will miss the entire 2023 season before becoming a free agent this fall. Look for Darick Hall to get the bulk of the playing time at first base.
Leody Taveras – OF Texas Rangers
Bruce Bochy confirms: Leody Taveras will open season on IL

There was speculation that he would be able to avoid the Injured List altogether, but alas, here we are. Look for Bubba Thompson to get the biggest bump in playing time.
