Max Fried – SP Atlanta Braves
Max Fried played catch again today. Once he begins building up, he’ll start throwing bullpens, live BPs and making starts like he’s going through another Spring Training. So, it will still be a while, but it’s encouraging that he has been cleared to begin the throwing program.
— Mark Bowman (@mlbbowman) May 25, 2023
While the idea of Fried throwing is a good one, it’s concerning that he is basically starting over. He hasn’t thrown for a while and will need to revamp his arm to where it was in the spring. That will all take a lot of time. Assuming there are no setbacks, he is around one month away from returning, with the All-Star Break being a fair timeline.
Ramon Urias – INF Baltimore Orioles
Be prepared as Urias is close to returning to the Orioles.
Cedric Mullins – OF Baltimore Orioles
Brandon Hyde said Cedric Mullins is not in the Orioles’ lineup for “personal reasons.” He expects it to be a one-day absence.
— Nathan Ruiz (@NathanSRuiz) May 25, 2023
The hope is that Mullins is correct and that it will be a one-day absence. Here’s also hoping that all is well with him and his family.
CJ Cron – 1B Colorado Rockies
Injury updates from the #Rockies
-Cron: no timetable, hoping to take swings soon
-Davis, Noah: scheduled to make start next week for ABQ
-Lamet: starting on Friday for ABQ
-Kinley: continues to throw bullpensNo setbacks to report by Bud Black for the rest of the IL’d players.
— Patrick Lyons (@PatrickDLyons) May 25, 2023
Cron has been out of action for ten days, and in that time he has yet to swing a bat. With no timetable set, if he doesn’t start to swing soon, a lengthy rehab assignment might be on tap.
Giancarlo Stanton – OF New York Yankees
Giancarlo Stanton won’t be ready to begin a rehab assignment this weekend. Aaron Boone said hopefully early next week.
— Bryan Hoch ⚾️ (@BryanHoch) May 26, 2023
There was hope a few days ago that Stanton would be ready to begin a rehab assignment this weekend. Instead, that has been delayed despite the hamstring healing as it was expected. It’s a weird combination of a delay mixed with healing how it was expected. Either way, it would appear that this sets him back only a few days, but time will tell exactly how long.
Jose Alvarado – RP Philadelphia Phillies
Jose Alvarado will throw a bullpen session Saturday in Atlanta. If it goes well, he'll likely throw live BP once the Phillies get to New York. The step after that would be a rehab assignment.
— Corey Seidman (@CSeidmanNBCS) May 25, 2023
The plan for Alvarado is about to take flight, with an important weekend ahead. Alvarado has been out of action for more than the minimum, and thus a multi-game rehab assignment is likely in the cards.
Darick Hall – 1B Philadelphia Phillies
Catcher Rafael Marchan, out all season with a hamate fracture, could begin a rehab assignment Sunday.
Darick Hall, out since April 5 with a thumb sprain, could start his rehab assignment early next week.
— Corey Seidman (@CSeidmanNBCS) May 25, 2023
Hall is eligible to return on June 5, and, barring any setbacks, that date looks attainable. Time will tell, but things are looking good for Hall to return to the team soon.
Manny Machado – 3B San Diego Padres
Bob Melvin says “its going to be tough” for Manny Machado to return tomm vs NY. Doesn’t expect him in lineup tomm. #Padres
— Byron Kerr (@ByronKerr) May 25, 2023
Machado is eligible to return to action today, but he has yet to face live pitching. He has, however, taken grounders and used his glove, so that hurdle has been cleared. It seems unlikely that he will need a rehab assignment, as the team hasn’t indicated this injury to be substantial or major. Still, anything is possible, so stay tuned.
Ha-Seong Kim – INF San Diego Padres
X-rays on Ha-Seong Kim’s left knee came back negative, Bob Melvin says. Still doubtful for tomorrow at NYY. But he might avoid an IL stint.
— AJ Cassavell (@AJCassavell) May 25, 2023
Kim fouled a ball off of his knee and later had to be carted off the field. The injury looked quite painful, so it’s a bit of a surprise to see that his knee seems to be structurally okay. The good news is that he may avoid the Injured List altogether, though there’s no guarantee he plays at all this weekend.
Tyler Glasnow – SP Tampa Bay Rays
Rays list Tyler Glasnow as Saturday's starter against the Dodgers, in what will be his season debut
Friday and Sunday starters are TBA for Tampa Bay

Be prepared.
Danny Jansen – C Toronto Blue Jays
C Danny Jansen (left groin tightness) is scheduled for an MRI today. John Schneider said they’re just being proactive. Should have more info before first pitch.
Jansen suffered the injury while running down to first in the 5th inning of last night’s game. #BlueJays— Hazel Mae (@thehazelmae) May 25, 2023
There were no corresponding roster moves before the game yesterday, but there were no updates either. Perhaps the team is waiting on the results of Jansen’s MRI. That said, Alejandro Kirk started as the team’s catcher yesterday.
