Dynasty Baseball Buys and Sells: The Brice is Not Right

This week’s dynasty baseball buys features a hitter off to rough start and a pitcher, who hasn’t been relevant for the past few years. The dynasty baseball sells include one of the hottest hitters in the game and one of the best pitchers from last season. Let’s take a look at this week’s dynasty baseball buys and sells. In case you missed it, check out last week’s Dynasty Baseball Buys and Sells.

Dynasty Baseball Buys

Vinnie Pasquantino, 1B, Kansas City Royals

A lot of fantasy baseball managers have been extremely frustrated by Pasquantino’s slow start to the 2025 season. He is slashing just .177/.242/.327 and has only tallied four home runs at the end of April. He’s posting career lows in multiple categories, including ISO, Barrel%, HardHit%, AVG, OBP, SLG, and OPS. It’s easy to see why so many people are panicking over Pasquantino.

Pasquantino has been very unlucky this season due to a .193 BABIP. He has a special quality of putting the ball in play quite often, too. Since Pasquantino debuted in 2022, he has the second-lowest K% among all first basemen with at least 1,000 plate appearances over that span. Pasquantino fell just shy of 100 RBI last year after missing the entire month of September due to an injury. He already has 18 RBI, while batting below .180 this season, so that is good news for his RBI total to skyrocket as his average climbs back up. Pasquantino is a solid dynasty baseball buy.

Walker Buehler, SP, Boston Red Sox

Buehler has had a rough past few years. His season was cut short in 2022 due to Tommy John Surgery. He ended up missing all of 2023 and part of 2024. He made his return from Tommy John Surgery in May of 2024, and it didn’t go so well. Buehler put up a dreadful 5.38 ERA and 1.55 WHIP. He also recorded his lowest K/9 (7.6) of his career.

He hasn’t been turning any heads with his numbers this year, but they are an improvement from last season. Buehler has compiled a 4.28 ERA, 1.22 WHIP, and 29 strikeouts in 33.2 innings. While his stats aren’t too impressive, he is doing some impressive things. He has recorded the third-lowest HardHit% (31%), with only Paul Skenes and Tarik Skubal ahead of him in that department. His 86.3 MPH exit velocity is tied with Paul Skenes and only trails Tarik Skubal and Hunter Brown. His 3.68 xFIP also offers some hope for better times ahead. I consider Buehler a strong dynasty baseball buy.

Dynasty Baseball Sells

Brice Turang, 2B, Milwaukee Brewers

Turang is off to a remarkable start this season. He is hitting .317 with 3 HR, 15 RBI, 28 Runs, and 8 SB. His 28 runs ranks third in the majors, only trailing Shohei Ohtani and Aaron Judge. His average ranks in the top 15, and he is tied for eighth in stolen bases. Turang is also tied for fourth in the majors with 38 hits this year. It’s hard to imagine a better way for him to kick off the first month of the season.

However, there are some troubling signs for Turang. He is a .248 career hitter, who has a .380 BABIP this season, so the average is likely to come crashing down very soon. His statcast numbers are all likely to regress quite a bit. He is posting a 47.9% Hardhit%, but has never posted above a 30% Hardhit% at any point in his career. Turang has a 9.3% Barrel%, although he’s never had above a 3% Barrel%. His exit velocity sits at 92.5 MPH, even though he’s never finished above 87 MPH. Turang is certainly not a masher, so these numbers are due to decline a substantial amount over the course of the season, making Turang dynasty baseball sell.

Bryce Miller, SP, Seattle Mariners

Miller was one of the best starting pitchers in the 2024 season. He had a sparkling 2.94 ERA, 0.98 WHIP, and 171 strikeouts in 180.1 innings. Miller was one of three starting pitchers with a sub-3.00 ERA and sub-1.00 WHIP last season, the other two pitchers being Tarik Skubal and Zack Wheeler. He is off to a solid start again this season with a 3.52 ERA and 31 strikeouts in 30.2 innings.

Miller’s BB% is at an all-time high, while his K% is at an all-time low. Not only is his BB% at a career high, but it’s more than double his career high. Also, his K% is 8.6% below his previous career low. His K-BB% (9.3%) ranks 71st out of 85 qualified starting pitchers this season. His 4.66 SIERA suggests regression could be around the corner. I’d recommend Miller as a dynasty baseball sell.
