Finding best ball values is the name of the game, especially with best ball Summer being in full swing. Multiple sites are releasing new contests on a weekly basis. While users are determining which contests to choose from, it is equally important to find the players who are steals based on the value they can return relative to their ADP or average draft position across draft boards. These players will usually be picked later in your drafts due to their situation changing, users expecting a decline in 2025, or a disappointing 2024 season based on their ADP last year. There is still plenty of value to be had on the board at this point, so if you’re looking to draft, there is still plenty of time. And this list of a sleeper at each position could potentially help advance your drafts to the playoffs and beyond.
What!? Your fantasy football league wasn’t hosted on Fantrax last season!? Once you see how Fantrax stacks up to the competition, we think you’ll be singing a different tune in the 2025 season.
Top 2025 Best Ball Values
QB: Bryce Young ADP: QB23, (154.7)
Bryce Young is currently the quarterback I have drafted the most in best ball due to what I think is tremendous value. His strong stretch to the end of the season, combined with the addition of Tetairoa McMillian, makes him one of my favorite values. Young finished the season with three weeks of QB2, QB19, and QB1 finishes.
The second-year quarterback started to find his stride after an early-season benching. Andy Dalton took the reins from Young and was prepared not to look back. The job looked like it was his to keep. However, Dalton injured his thumb in a car accident, which cost him the starting role. Carolina did right by him and rewarded him with a contract to continue to mentor Bryce Young.
Young finished as QB20 despite missing five games. He is currently coming off the board at QB23. This ADP is also right beside where he finished in points per game. A QB24 finish in that category, including a game where he scored -0.16 points with 7% of the snaps and one with 3.12 points with 15% of the snaps. If you take those two games out, Young finished with 16.75 points per game. That would put him at QB16.
He has another year of experience under his belt, during which he began to find success. A new alpha wide receiver in Tetairoa Macmillan and year two with offensive guru Dave Canales all make Bryce Young one of my favorite targets in best ball drafts.
RB: Kaleb Johnson ADP: RB23 (67.5)
Johnson will fit like a glove in Arthur Smith’s zone scheme. Johnson totaled 94 carries on outside zone run calls and 57 carries on inside zone run calls in 2024, according to Sports Info Solutions. Those were by far his two most frequent types of carries, which share overlap with Arthur Smith’s system from 2024. Inside and outside zone runs were also the two most-called schemes in his offense last season.
Low-end RB1 is in Johnson’s future if he secures a prominent role early. The Steelers had the sixth-highest number of rushing attempts in 2024. That number is expected to decrease with the addition of Aaron Rodgers. However, Arthur Smith will still run a version of his offense, and the Steelers will still run the ball plenty in 2025.
Johnson got an ideal landing spot and the necessary draft capital to take over the backfield in year one. An ADP of RB25 is a steal at this point in the offseason. And best ball drafters will look back on this draft position and ask, “How did that happen?”
WR: Emeka Egbuka ADP WR46 (80)
The reasoning for Egbuka being a best ball value is straightforward. The Buccaneers drafted him in round one of the NFL draft. Mike Evans is entering his age-32 season, when wide receivers typically show decline. And Chris Godwin is coming off a season-ending ankle injury suffered in Week 7 of last year. And as of July 29, he is still not practicing. The Buccaneers have maintained the stance throughout the offseason that Egbuka was a “best player available pick” and had nothing to do with Godwin’s injury. However, General Manager Jason Licht said on local radio station WDAE shortly after the draft that this pick allows the team to avoid rushing Chris Godwin back.
Even though Chris Godwin did get a three-year $66 million extension in the offseason. There have been few updates on a timetable for his return. That is why it is best to draft Egbuka now. If Chris Godwin cannot return to the field for Week 1, which is looking more likely as the days pass, Egbuka’s draft position will likely see at least a two-round increase. If he can earn playing time early in three wide receiver sets, he could crush his ADP even when Godwin returns.
Rookies Brian Thomas Jr. and Ricky Pearsall’s late-season breakout games in week 17 helped an Underdog user win the company’s flagship tournament, Best Ball Mania.
Ladd McConkey and Malik Nabers both had top-six finishes that week. I believe we will see Emeka Egbuka join this group of players who helped win contests in Best Ball last year.
TE: Hunter Henry ADP: TE19 (160.9)
Hunter Henry is the late-round tight end that shouldn’t be going in the late rounds. Henry was fifth in targets last year (98), sixth in receptions (66), and eighth in yards (674). And the only addition the team made to the receiving corps was Stefon Diggs, who is coming off a torn ACL. An argument can be made that Trevyon Henderson was also an addition, which is a fair point. Those moves shouldn’t take much away from Hunter Henry, but they should improve a putrid offense. Henry had no luck finding the end zone on the 30th highest scoring offense in the league, only reaching the end zone twice.
Henry finished as TE17 in points per game, and his ADP is now lower despite an improved offense. Imagine Henry had gotten some touchdown luck on the looks he had last season. Considering he had 18 red zone targets in 2024. He could easily post a top-ten season and be a tremendous value at his draft position of 166.8.
