MLB Injury Report
Jazz Chisholm Jr. – 3B/OF New York Yankees
Jazz Chisholm Jr. said his shoulder has been bothering him for about three weeks. He said it affects him more throwing than hitting but doesn’t want to use it as an excuse for his recent errors.
— Bryan Hoch ⚾️ (@BryanHoch) July 6, 2025
This was quite an interesting revelation, as Chisholm hasn’t missed a game since June 13. Since then, he has a .296/.374/.580/.954 slash line with six home runs, so this injury isn’t necessarily hurting his offensive production. Still, it’s something to keep in mind for future gameplay, as this could eventually result in some downtime or reduced production.
Kodai Senga – SP New York Mets
"Hopefully, he's making a start for us next time."

— SNY (@SNYtv) July 6, 2025
Senga recently threw a 68-pitch rehab start, and while he wasn’t very efficient, the biggest takeaway was his buildup, which allowed him to toss as many pitches as he did. Since this isn’t an arm injury, chances are that this speedy recovery has more to do with how much his hamstring has healed. All that being said, this is a rapid turnaround for him, as he last pitched on June 12. We are less than one month removed from that injury, making this return almost shocking.
Brandon Lowe – 2B Tampa Bay Rays
Brandon Lowe said he left today’s game out of precaution when he felt the tweak in his right side after the first-inning strikeout: “Some discomfort,” Lowe said. “It’s a long-run type of thing, understanding that this team is special. Let's stay healthy and not try to land on the…
— Ryan Bass (@Ry_Bass) July 6, 2025
As mentioned here, Lowe had a similar situation appear last season, where he returned sooner than he should have, and then it was revealed that he had a Grade 1 oblique strain. For now, it appears that he has learned his lesson and wants to take the precautionary route. With one week until the All-Star Break, it will be interesting to see if this cautious tale continues, and he either misses a handful of games or goes onto the Injured List.
Ha-Seong Kim – SS Tampa Bay Rays
Ha-Seong Kim ran today at about 80%, played catch and took swings in batting cage with no apparent issues from right calf discomfort #Rays think was from a cramp. Cash said they are "very encouraged.'' Still day to day but IL seems unlikely.
— Marc Topkin (@TBTimes_Rays) July 6, 2025
Kim has missed two games since cramping up on Friday. If he starts to miss more, then it would appear that there’s more than meets the eye here. Stay tuned.
Los Angeles Dodgers – Team Update
#Dodgers Dave Roberts shared updates on a few position players battling injuries:
Tommy Edman has hairline fracture in right pinky toe, likely no IL stint.
Kiké Hernandez left elbow soreness.
Teoscar Hernandez scans came back clean, but dealing with soreness in left foot.
— Kirsten Watson (@kirsten_watson) July 6, 2025
Big update here. First, the injuires to Tommy Edman and Kike Hernandez will likely lead to additional playing time for Hyeseong Kim, who has been productive when given the chance to play. It’s unclear if either of the aforementioned players will require a trip to the Injured List. While manager Dave Roberts did not believe they would need to miss any time, with it being so close to the All-Star Break, it wouldn’t be surprising to see either of them miss time. As for Toescar Hernandez, it’s good news that his imaging provided no cause for concern other than soreness. That being said, he has struggled mightily at the plate as of late, so some time off might do him good.
Aaron Nola – SP Philadelphia Phillies
Aaron Nola threw a bullpen today. Not at his full strength, but he felt good.
“Ball went forward without anything hurting, which is a positive,” he said.
He’ll head to Clearwater during the All-Star break for a couple more bullpens before facing live hitters at the complex.
— Ty Daubert (@TyDaubert) July 6, 2025
Great news here, as Nola is slowly getting himself back to where he needs to be. With his ankle injury firmly behind him, it’s now about managing this rib ailment, which is healing. He needs to work his way back into throwing these bullpens at full strength before facing live batters.
Arizona Diamondbacks – Team Update
Torey Lovullo injury notes:
Gabriel Moreno has been base running and receiving pitches, just can't use his right hand yet.
Drey Jameson had a bone fragment chip off in his elbow, so his injury has nothing to do with his previous Tommy John surgery.
— Alex Weiner (@alexjweiner) July 6, 2025
Moreno’s inability to use his right hand by now likely means that he will remain out of action through the All-Star Break. The good news is that he’s able to do a lot of other catcher-duty tasks to keep himself ready and in shape. It’s unclear if he will need a rehab assignment. As for Drey Jameson, this is a relief, as there was some worry that he would need an operation to repair his surgically repaired elbow. It would appear that’s not the case. It’s unclear if we will see him again in 2025.
Cole Ragans – SP Kansas City Royals
Injury update on Cole Ragans: He had his follow up MRI and received positive results, manager Matt Quatraro said. The plan is for Ragans to begin throwing again tomorrow. Still a ways to go, but good first step. #Royals
— Anne Rogers (@anne__rogers) July 6, 2025
It’s worth noting that Ragans has been on the Injured List for less than a month, and already he will begin throwing. It’s unclear if his throwing this soon is a good idea or an advantageous one, but it’s happening nonetheless. Any renewed soreness, post-throwing, will be one to monitor, as it could signal a shutdown and mean a significant setback.
