MLB Injury Report

Ketel Marte – 2B Arizona Diamondbacks

The hits just keep on coming for the Diamondbacks, who were without Ketel Marte last night and might be for the foreseeable future. The team doesn’t believe this is a major setback, but his injury history suggests that this could be something to keep an eye on. Even if he doesn’t need a trip to the Injured List, he may need some time this week to let things get better. Stay tuned.

Shelby Miller – RP Arizona Diamondbacks

Yet another massive blow to the Diamondbacks, who have now lost their top three closers on the season. It’s unclear if he hurt himself on Sunday when he pitched or in warmups yesterday. Either way, he won’t be back until at least just after the All-Star Break, but this has the potential to be more than a minimum absence.

Hunter Greene – SP Cincinnati Reds

Interesting development here, as earlier in the day it was believed that Greene had himself a major setback. Now, from this quote, it would appear that fatigue is the main culprit of this setback, and not something structural. Regardless of what happens, Greene won’t be back for a while, as he may need some time to ramp himself back up before heading out for a rehab assignment.

Toronto Blue Jays – Team Update

A lot of updates here on the Blue Jays, yet there’s not much new happening. Daulton Varsho remains stagnant in his progression, as he will once again run the bases at a later date before anything new is laid out for him. After his setback, the team has been taking things slowly, as they should. He may be ready for a rehab assignment later this week. As for Anthony Santander, he continues to be in a holding place, as he can’t seem to get to the point of swinging a bat and hitting. Due to his lengthy absence, he will likely need an extensive rehab assignment just before he comes back. As for the rest of the players listed here, Alek Manoah is progressing but will need a very long rehab assignment when the team thinks he is ready. Also, Yimi Garcia and Andres Gimenez just went on the Injured List, so they are in the beginning stages of their recovery. Finally, Bowden Francis and Paxton Schultz have a long way to go before pitching for the Blue Jays again.

Michael King – SP San Diego Padres

Thursday will be a big day for King, who has advanced his progression to 120-foot throws. If he can increase his intensity and throw multiple pitches at a higher intensity, all while not feeling the effects of it afterward, he may be able to continue along this road to recovery. However, as mentioned, it’s all about how his body feels. When nerves are involved, it’s a very sensitive situation that is dependent on how he responds.

Alex Bregman – 3B Boston Red Sox

Fantastic news here. After a “heavy workload” day on Monday, which consisted of hitting, fielding, and running, Bregman and manager Alex Cora did not rule out a return this week. We should know more as the week progresses, but a return to the lineup should invigorate the struggling Red Sox, who need some stability.

Masataka Yoshida – OF Boston Red Sox

Yoshida has been hitting well during his rehab assignment, similar to how he did during Spring Training. Now that Rafael Devers is no longer occupying the DH spot, there’s room for someone like Yoshida, who will get opportunities to hit and play. It’s unclear if he will be in the lineup every day, but he should produce when he does play.

Los Angeles Dodgers – Team Update

It’s unclear if both Tommy Edman and Teoscar Hernandez will be able to return on Wednesday, but the team remains optimistically confident in that happening. Stay tuned.

Tyler Glasnow – SP Los Angeles Dodgers
