There are many aspects to consider when drafting a fantasy football team, and the strength of schedule is just one of them. However, it is an identifiable one. The Chiefs are popular every year, and for good reason. Many might find themselves benching their Chiefs players if they make the finals this year. Their Week 17 matchup against the Broncos will likely be low-scoring due to Denver’s stout defense, which made only additions this offseason. So, consider that when you are drafting Patrick Mahomes this fantasy season. However, below are three quarterbacks with some of the best fantasy schedules in the 2025 season.
What!? Your fantasy football league wasn’t hosted on Fantrax last season!? Once you see how Fantrax stacks up to the competition, we think you’ll be singing a different tune in the 2025 season.
Top Quarterback Schedules for 2025 Fantasy Football
C.J. Stroud
It was a rough one for Stroud and company in 2024. And it might be a rough 2025 season as well. After trading away Laremy Tunsil, the Texans will need all hands on deck on the offensive line. Houston threw the ball the 11th most per game last year, and I would only expect that number to go up. As Stroud and company may find themselves behind the chains more often than not. With the additions of two Iowa State Cyclone receivers in Jayden Higgins and Jaylin Noel, it is clear what the Texans’ goal is coming into 2025.
It also helps that they have one of the league’s most quarterback-friendly schedules. They play nine games against teams in the top 12 of fantasy points allowed in 2024. The Colts (second game is in week 18), Jaguars X2, Ravens, Cowboys, Buccaneers, Rams, and Raiders are all teams that made the list. Some teams, such as the Ravens and Rams, have strong defenses, but the Texans will likely be behind and forced to throw the ball in those games regardless.
Stroud had a disappointing sophomore year in comparison to his stellar rookie season. He has the opportunity to turn it around with a new group of pass catchers, along with one of the most fantasy-friendly schedules at the position in 2025.
Jalen Hurts
Given the Philadelphia Eagles’ division win, it was surprising to see Jalen Hurts on the list. The Eagles will have their fair share of challenges this year. However, seeing the Cowboys and Giants four times yearly will boost any fantasy schedule. The Cowboys were the worst team at giving up fantasy points to quarterbacks. Opposing quarterbacks averaged 21.1 fantasy points against the Cowboys. The Giants were marginally better, only giving up 17.3 fantasy points per game, which made them 16th in the league. Hurts only played one game apiece against these two teams, as he was out for weeks 17 & 18 with a concussion. He would have missed the Week 18 game against the Giants regardless.
Jalen did make both of his starts against these teams count last year. He was QB3 in week 10 against Dallas and QB4 in week 8 against the Giants. The Eagles’ quarterback also has games against the Colts, Raiders, and Buccaneers, despite them seeming to be the Eagles’ kryptonite.
Hurts is in line for another strong fantasy football season with the tush push back, but he could take it to the next level and potentially finish as QB1 overall with one of the best quarterback schedules for fantasy.
Baker Mayfield
Playing in a division with the teams that allowed the most and second-most passing touchdowns will boost your strength of schedule. The Carolina Panthers and Atlanta Falcons were both susceptible to the pass in 2024, and that will likely be the case again in 2025. Neither team made any drastic changes to their secondaries, except that now both teams have a new starting safety. The Atlanta Falcons did add some much-needed help to their front seven, but they will still be susceptible against the pass this season.
Mayfield will play both teams in the fantasy football playoffs. Last year, he played Carolina in the fantasy championship and helped many managers to a title, scoring 34.6 fantasy points. Good for QB2 on the week. This made many managers forget that he had struggled against the Panthers in their first matchup.
The only rough spots on Mayfield’s schedule are Philadelphia in week 4 and potentially Miami in week 17. Surprisingly, Miami allowed the fewest fantasy points per game to the quarterback position. That likely won’t be the case this year with the team relying heavily on young cornerbacks who struggled in 2024. Regardless of whether Miami has the same defensive outlook as last year, Baker Mayfield still has one of the easiest schedules in the league. Mayfield finished as QB4 in 2024, and if he performs like that again. He will have outperformed his current ADP. With one of the best schedules in the league, he may reach his ceiling yet again.
Conclusion
Schedules aren’t everything, but they can raise a player’s ceiling. And that is just part of why I will be targeting these three quarterbacks in drafts.
In terms of draft capital, managers must draft Mayfield and Hurts early in drafts to get them on their teams. Meanwhile, Stroud is a player who will likely be undrafted in some redraft leagues. Be careful; if he shows signs of returning to 2023 form, he will likely be on a team instantly.
These aren’t the only quarterbacks with easy schedules. Bryce Young and Michael Penix also will have easier schedules. So if managers want a quarterback with a more manageable schedule in fantasy, they have plenty of choices. However, don’t disregard a quarterback because he has a challenging schedule. Quarterbacks like Joe Burrow and Jayden Daniels will have tougher schedules this season. That isn’t a reason to avoid them in drafts, though.
Yet, if it’s a choice between those two and Hurts, their schedules could break the tie. We can look for their easy schedules to get more buzz as we approach draft time. This exercise is to get ahead of the curve and prepare for a busy draft season that is right around the corner!
