MLB Injury Report
Taylor Ward – OF Los Angeles Angels
Taylor Ward has about 20 stitches above his right eye but he is otherwise OK. He’s been cleared of a concussion. He said he slept well last night.
Thinks he just needs a couple days rest and can return to the lineup.
— Jeff Fletcher (@JeffFletcherOCR) September 1, 2025
Fantastic news here, as the Angels should have Ward back in their lineup later this week. The injury looked gruesome, but now that he is stitched up, he appears close to returning. It’s also good news that he is cleared of a concussion. Fantasy baseball managers can safely insert him into their lineup for a potential Wednesday return.
Fernando Tatis Jr. – OF San Diego Padres
Fernando Tatis Jr. has been scratched with what the Padres are calling “lower half tightness.” Bryce Johnson will start.
— Dennis Lin (@dennistlin) September 1, 2025
Tatis was a late scratch on Monday, though it was reported earlier in the day that he was suffering from lower-half tightness. We’ll see if this develops into anything more, but for now, consider him day-to-day.
Jason Adam – RP San Diego Padres
Another angle of that Jason Adam injury.
It looks like he says “I felt something pop” to the trainers. Brutal. pic.twitter.com/viMTznxvOp

Very unfortunate development here, as Adam suffered a ruptured quad tendon after this pitch. The timeline for his recovery is set to be around six to nine months, though we should get a more definitive timeline in the coming days. Needless to say, his season is over.
Adolis Garcia – OF Texas Rangers
Bruce Bochy says on the postgame show that Adolis Garcia is dealing with a quad injury. Didn’t seem optimistic. No minor-league outfielders on the 40-man. Only minor-league position player on the 40 is Justin Foscue. Zeke Duran to right field, Cody Freeman to second?
— Jeff Wilson (@JeffWilsonTXR) September 2, 2025
As mentioned, Garcia hurt his quad, and the team isn’t optimistic regarding the outcome of his evaluation today. There’s a chance that he requires some time on the Injured List, so fantasy players should have a backup plan in the outfield just in case.
St. Louis Cardinals – Team Update

Busy day for the Cardinals all around, as they have a handful of injuries that could make the coming days interesting. For now, everyone is progressing well, albeit slowly, and moving closer to a return. Brendan Donovan took ground balls and actually went through a full workout as well. He could be back by this time next week. As for Alec Burleson, he did receive an injection, and playing catch is likely a good indication that he’s feeling better. This could propel him to return and have a minimal absence. Finally, Nolan Arenado (the regular on the IL) is slated to start a rehab assignment later this week, though he will undergo a full examination by the team tomorrow.
Ha-Seong Kim – SS Atlanta Braves
The Braves have claimed shortstop Ha-Seong Kim from the Rays on waivers, sources tell @TheAthletic. Kim is owed ~$2M rest of the season and has a $16M player option for next season. Braves get to look at him for a month. Ready to come off IL with lower back inflammation.
— Ken Rosenthal (@Ken_Rosenthal) September 1, 2025
It’s rare for injured players to switch teams, but here we are. This is an interesting addition for the Braves, who are seemingly loading up for next season. Assuming that he can get and stay healthy this offseason, there’s a chance for everyday playing time here with speed. He could be a bargain in drafts next year, though those in dynasty leagues would be advised to add him now if possible.
Lourdes Gurriel Jr. – OF Arizona Diamondbacks
Here's the FULL non-contact injury to Lourdes Gurriel Jr… @12SportsAZ pic.twitter.com/HSN9A1gfaz
— Cameron Cox (@CamCox12) September 2, 2025
Gurriel injured himself while trying to get out of the way of Blaze Alexander in the outfield. While doing so, he inadvertently suffered a non-contact leg injury, which, by all accounts, looked gruesome. The hope is that he will be okay and play again this season, but with him being carted off, the Diamondbacks being out of contention, and with there being less than one month left in the season, this could be it for him. Stay tuned.
Edward Cabrera – SP Miami Marlins
Marlins place SP Edward Cabrera on the IL with a right elbow sprain. Breakout season for him in 2025, but now immediate and distant future fairly unclear.
— Craig Mish (@CraigMish) September 1, 2025
It’s unclear what the severity of Cabrera’s sprain is, but it would appear that his season is over. The team will likely offer updates in the coming days with a precise diagnosis and a plan.
Chase Meidroth – INF Chicago White Sox
Chase Meidroth is day to day with a right ankle sprain
— Kyle W (@K_Williamsmedia) September 1, 2025
Hopefully, the 24-year-old can return soon enough and get valuable playing time now, to help him be better next year when the games start to matter more.
Jonathan India – 2B Kansas City Royals

— Kansas City Royals (@Royals) September 1, 2025
It’s unclear as to the extent of the injury or for how long he’s been injured, but for now, he will miss the next little while with this ailment. Stay tuned for updates, but it would appear that Michael Massey will take over as the team’s everyday second baseman.
Trevor Megill – RP Milwaukee Brewers
Brewers closer Trevor Megill (flexor strain) has been playing catch and already has a bullpen scheduled for Thursday, Pat Murphy said.
— Adam McCalvy (@AdamMcCalvy) September 1, 2025
Megill did vow to make this a minimum stay on the Injured List, and given his injury, that would be very advantageous. However, he is less than a week removed from the team and will attempt to throw a bullpen session on Thursday. If all goes well there, he may not even need a rehab assignment and could be right all along. Needless to say, Thursday will be a big day for him and the Brewers.
