MLB Injury Report
Roman Anthony – OF Boston Red Sox
Left oblique tightness for Roman Anthony.
— Ian Browne (@IanMBrowne) September 3, 2025
Anthony injured himself on a swing, and he immediately went to the dugout and trainers for assistance. He was pulled with oblique tightness, and the team should offer more updates in the coming days once the results of his impending MRI are known. These sorts of injuries, if serious enough, tend to linger to the point of making this a season-ending injury. Stay tuned.
Kyle Tucker – OF Chicago Cubs
"As the game went, just got a little more sore … I'd rather not try and test this much further and make it any more than it really is."

This was Tucker speaking after the game regarding his calf, which caused him to leave the game early. It’s already been made known that he won’t play in today’s game, so fantasy players would be wise to swap him out if possible. It doesn’t sound too serious, but he may undergo some testing today just to rule out anything major.
Lourdes Gurriel Jr. – OF Arizona Diamondbacks

— PHNX Diamondbacks (@PHNX_Dbacks) September 2, 2025
This is a brutal blow for the Diamondbacks and, more specifically, Gurriel, who has a torn ACL and will miss the remainder of the season. In addition to 2025, he will miss some, if not all, of the 2026 season, as his timeline for a return could be upward of twelve months. As someone who will be turning 33 later this month, we may have seen the last of any productive seasons from him.
MacKenzie Gore – SP Washington Nationals
More injury updates:
* MacKenzie Gore played catch today, a good sign only 4 days after going on the IL with shoulder inflammation
* Josiah Gray threw 30 pitches over 2 “innings” of live BP today in West Palm Beach
— Mark Zuckerman (@MarkZuckerman) September 2, 2025
As mentioned here, Gore playing catch this soon after could mean that he’s on the right track for a return, possibly this season. The issue here is that rushing back could lead to setbacks or further exacerbate this injury. The team needs to be cognizant that he is a big part of their future, and they have a better shot of winning in 2026 with him on the mound than on the Injured List.
Adolis Garcia – OF Texas Rangers
No update yet on García. If any chance he'd be ready sometime within the next 10 days, I don't think theyl IL him. Only position player on 40 is Foscue. Haggerty could be ready next week. With Burger activation, they are essentially at full strength. And chance of Adolis vs.…
— Evan Grant (@Evan_P_Grant) September 2, 2025
The team was worried on Monday night that this could be a serious injury. However, with no real updates before the game on Tuesday, there’s a chance that after a good night’s sleep, he was able to come back to the ballpark refreshed. All that being said, until he returns, there’s no guarantee that he still won’t go on the Injured List.
David Festa – SP Minnesota Twins
Sounds as if #MNTwins will shut down David Festa for the season. Had a reoccurrence of his shoulder issues last week. Set to visit Dr. Meister.
— DanHayesMLB (@DanHayesMLB) September 2, 2025
Festa being shut down for the season is bad, but there’s a chance for something much worse, as a visit to a specialist regarding his recurring shoulder issues could result in surgery. A major operation could jeopardize a productive 2026 season.
Mike Trout – OF Los Angeles Angels
Mike Trout was scratched from today's lineup with a skin infection. https://t.co/KQ9q4mo3cR
— Angels PR (@LAAngelsPR) September 2, 2025
This seems like something unlikely to keep Trout out of the lineup for enough time to warrant a trip to the Injured List.
Cincinnati Reds – Team Update
Chase Burns has two live bullpens scheduled this week, including one today. Tyler Stephenson will begin a rehab assignment tomorrow.
— Charlie Goldsmith (@CharlieG__) September 2, 2025
Both Reds players are working hard to return before the season ends, to ensure that they can have a healthy offseason. Chase Burns, in particular, would thrive with an offseason of preparation for next summer, instead of using some of it to recover from this elbow strain. The plan is for both to play at some point, with Tyler Stephenson likely to return first.
Los Angeles Dodgers – Team Update
Max Muncy is also going to begin a rehab stint with OKC this week, Dave Roberts said
Both he and Edman could be options to return for next week’s homestand
— Jack Harris (@ByJackHarris) September 2, 2025
Max Muncy returning next week is great news, but he has to successfully go through a rehab assignment this week first. Chances are, this won’t be an extensive one, given that the team hopes for his return soon. As for Tommy Edman, he will play in the outfield during this rehab assignment, and as such, it can be expected that he will do the same when he returns.
