Week 2 Running Back Sleepers and Streamers

Last week’s Sleepers and Streamers for running backs gave us one truth, and that is, Travis Etienne is back. TreVeyon Henderson finished as the RB24, and Nick Chubb, along with Jerome Ford, let us down. Etienne finished as the RB6 with 18.6 fantasy points. It was against the Carolina Panthers, but it was great to see him be efficient. Now, we have some data to back up our sleepers and streamers for Week 2, and here they are.

Running Back Sleepers

Trey Benson vs. Carolina Panthers

Surprisingly, Trey Benson outplayed James Conner in Week 1. Conner did have more fantasy points, but Benson had more rushing yards. Benson had eight carries and 69 yards. The Carolina Panthers gave up 173 rushing yards on 25 carries and are looking like one of the worst teams once again. I expect Benson and Conner both to have good games in Week 2 against this bad run defense. Start Benson at your flex with confidence, as he is becoming one of the best sleepers and handcuffs at the position.

Javonte Williams vs. New York Giants

Javonte Williams had 15 carries in Week 1 for the Dallas Cowboys. Yes, he had just 54 yards, but he had two rushing touchdowns. He is the clear-cut RB1 for the Cowboys and should be rostered in all formats. In Week 2, he gets to face the New York Giants. The Giants gave up 137 total yards and 25.40 fantasy points to the running backs of the Washington Commanders. I expect the Cowboys to bounce back and for Williams to find the endzone again.

Running Back Streamers

Travis Etienne @ Cincinnati Bengals

As stated, Travis Etienne is back and forgiven. He is currently the RB6 pending the MNF game. He had 143 rushing yards on 16 carries. Now, he is facing the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 2. The Bengals gave up 25.10 fantasy points to Dylan Sampson and the rest of the Cleveland Browns’ running backs. They also gave up nine receptions and 61 receiving yards to the position. This is good news, as there is a high chance Etienne gets it going in the receiving department just like Bucky Irving did in 2024 for Liam Coen. Etienne should be one of the best streamers at the position in Week 2. Overall, it will not be long before he is a must-start every single week for the fantasy football season.

Jacory Croskey-Merritt @ Green Bay Packers

First, I am a Green Bay Packers fan. So, I am on cloud nine currently with how the Packers dominated the Detroit Lions in Week 1. With that being said, they still allowed 23.30 fantasy points and allowed 14 receptions to the Lions’ running backs. Jacory Croskey-Merritt had a solid debut after the pre-season hype that was surrounding him. He is currently the RB16 as he scored 14.2 fantasy points in Week 1. He had a touchdown, 82 rushing yards on ten carries, too. Personally, I think Merritt is the clear-cut RB1 for the Commanders and should be for the rest of the 2025 season. Yes, Micah Parsons is on the d-line for the Packers now, but with having to worry about Jayden Daniels and his legs, I believe Merritt is a great play and one of the better streamers for all of Week 2 amongst all positions.
