Starts and Sits are here for Week 2, featuring Quarterbacks and Running Backs. Last week, I was disappointed with having Bryce Young and Dak Prescott as starts. Not only did Young and Prescott not finish as QB1s, but they were not even QB2s. Bo Nix was a great choice in the sits department as he had less than 10 fantasy points. Justin Fields was a big miss as he finished as the QB2 in Week 1.

As for the running backs, I went 2/4. James Cook was listed as a sit and finished as the RB4, but Tony Pollard was there, too, and finished as the RB33. Chuba Hubbard was a start for me and finished as the RB8. Meanwhile, TreVeyon Henderson finished just outside RB2 range as the RB25.
Here are the starts and sits for Week 2.
Quarterback and Running Back Starts and Sits
Quarterback Starts
J.J. McCarthy vs. Atlanta Falcons
J.J. McCarthy started off his NFL debut slowly in Week 1, but then picked it up when it mattered most. Although he had an interception in the third quarter that was returned for a touchdown, he was not rattled. He accounted for two passing touchdowns and a rushing touchdown in the fourth quarter, and the Minnesota Vikings won. Now, He faces the Atlanta Falcons in Week 2 at home. McCarthy is ranked as the QB16, and I believe he should be a QB1 moving forward. Fire him up in your lineups with confidence this week.
Trevor Lawrence @ Cincinnati Bengals
Trevor Lawrence was a letdown in Week 1 as he finished as the QB23. The good news is that he is playing the Cincinnati Bengals, who just let Joe Flacco throw for 290 yards. Brian Thomas Jr. will be a much bigger factor against a very weak Bengals secondary. Lawrence makes up for his lackluster performance with a top-12 finish in Week 2.

Quarterback Sits
Bo Nix @ Indianapolis Colts
Bo Nix was in my sits department last week, and he is here once again. He had less than 10 fantasy points in Week 1. The Indianapolis Colts gave up fewer than seven fantasy points to Tua Tagovailoa and dominated the Miami Dolphins. I cannot trust Nix after what he did last week, and he has to be left on the bench until he proves otherwise. Pivot towards the waiver wire for a much safer choice.
C.J. Stroud vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers
C.J. Stroud has not lived up to his epic rookie season. In his rookie season, Stroud was the QB7 in PPG. In year two, he was the QB28, and now, after one game in year three, he is the QB26. The Houston Texans have major issues with their offensive line, and it is becoming the downfall of Stroud. He cannot be trusted in any format. Unless the Texans can pull it together, you cannot trust Stroud against a stifling Tampa Bay Buccaneers front seven.
Running Back Starts
Javonte Williams vs. New York Giants
Javonte Williams did not have a ton of rushing yards in Week 1, but he scored two touchdowns. He had 18.4 fantasy points and finished as the RB2. Now, he gets a softer matchup against the New York Giants. I believe the Cowboys bounce back in a major way and dominate the Giants. In turn, this will lead to letting Williams drain the clock, giving him multiple chances to score and rack up fantasy points. Williams is one of my favorite starts across all positions for Week 2.
Omarion Hampton @ Las Vegas Raiders
The Las Vegas Raiders gave up just 16 fantasy points to the New England Patriots running backs in Week 1. The thing I love most about having Omarion Hampton as one of my starts is the fact that he had 15 carries. Najee Harris had ONE carry. Hampton is the workhorse for this team, and I will never write a rookie off after a single game. I expect the Chargers to coast by the Raiders, leaving Hampton to coast to some easy fantasy points and getting his first career touchdown.
Running Back Sits
Tony Pollard vs. Los Angeles Rams
Tony Pollard may have no competition for touches with Tyjae Spears out, but he is playing the Los Angeles Rams. The Rams gave up 9.40 fantasy points to the Houston Texans running backs last week. With a rookie QB facing a tough defensive line, I cannot help but think it will be a long day for the Tennessee Titans, which makes Pollard a great choice to leave on the bench in Week 2.
Aaron Jones vs. Atlanta Falcons
Aaron Jones was supposed to be the Vikings’ RB1 entering 2025. Instead, he had eight carries for 23 yards while Jordan Mason had 15 carries for 68 yards. Jones did have three catches for 44 yards, but his scoring a touchdown is the only thing that helped fantasy managers who started him. The age has arrived for Jones, and I fear Mason will take over this backfield before October ends. No fantasy manager should trust Jones in their lineups.
