MLB Injury Report
Tarik Skubal – SP Detroit Tigers
A.J. Hinch said tests came back clean and news was “all good” on Tarik Skubal.
Sounds like the team will still take things day to day to see if Skubal can make his next start
— Cody Stavenhagen (@CodyStavenhagen) September 13, 2025
This was a huge relief for Tigers fans everywhere, as Skubal left Friday’s game with some side soreness. The worst was expected, but a day later, his tests came back flawless. In addition, other reports were stating that he is expected to make his next start, which seems advantageous despite its probability. With the postseason around the corner, it wouldn’t be surprising to see his next start pushed back a bit or closely monitored with a pitch count. All things being said, however, the news is positive.
Anthony Volpe – SS New York Yankees
Aaron Boone said Anthony Volpe is available tonight.
Asked about the SS position going forward, Boone said it will be an everyday decision. #Yankees
— Gary Phillips (@GaryHPhillips) September 14, 2025
This was the message by the Yankees before last night’s game, as Volpe was reported to be unavailable to start all weekend. The team is trying to give him enough rest and time to strengthen his injured shoulder after receiving an injection late last week. His status, for the rest of the season, will be inundated with possible starts and sits, all depending on how he feels. He seems destined for offseason surgery here.
Chicago Cubs – Team Update
Cubs injury update. Seiya Suzuki will travel with the team to Pittsburgh dealing with some health issue. He will not play Monday.RHP Mike Soroka will come off IL on the trip.( shoulder) Kyle Tucker can come off IL Tuesday.( not likely that day)!
— Bruce Levine (@MLBBruceLevine) September 14, 2025
A lot of moving pieces here for the Cubs, who have a busy Injured List. First of all, Seiya Suzuki is sick, and it’s already been announced that he will miss today’s game. As for Mike Soroka, it’s great news for the Cubs, as he provides some late-season depth to give rest to overworked arms. Finally, it’s worth noting that Kyle Tucker is not expected to be activated on Tuesday, making him questionable to start on weekly rosters this week. Fantasy players are advised to look for updates throughout the day.
Zach Neto – SS Los Angeles Angels

— Rhett Bollinger (@RhettBollinger) September 14, 2025
The team is hopeful that today’s day off will give Neto enough time to return tomorrow. Stay tuned.
Tyler Mahle – SP Texas Rangers

This is a big plus for Mahle and the Rangers, as his injury was believed to be season-ending when it happened. Now, he could give fantasy players two or three starts before the season ends. That being said, it’s hard to believe that his starts will be lengthy in nature, and this good news is just that, in that he can now have a normal offseason.
Corey Seager – SS Texas Rangers

Speaking of surprising returns, this could be a big one for fantasy players, too. Seager could begin ramping up and working on his timing very soon, which could mean a quick return to the Rangers’ lineup. He’s also not one to typically require a rehab assignment, so he could give fantasy players ten or more games at the shortstop position before the season comes to a close.
Nolan Arenado – 3B St. Louis Cardinals
Update: Nolan Arenado will be active for the game Monday. That’s the #stlcards plan. https://t.co/C6JtrFR3GQ
— Derrick Goold (@dgoold) September 14, 2025
Be prepared!
Adley Rutschman – C Baltimore Orioles
Adley Rutschman (oblique) took BP this weekend here in Toronto. #Orioles interim manager Tony Mansolino expects Rutschman to go on a rehab assignment during upcoming week.
— Jake Rill (@JakeDRill) September 14, 2025
It looks like there’s a chance that we’ll see Rutschman with the Orioles for the final week of the season. Hopefully, fantasy players haven’t been relying on him for production down the stretch.
Will Smith – C Los Angeles Dodgers
The Dodgers recalled catcher Chuckie Robinson and placed catcher Will Smith on the injured list with a right-hand contusion, retroactive to September 10.
— Los Angeles Dodgers (@Dodgers) September 13, 2025
This poses a major hurdle for the Dodgers down the stretch, but his health will be a key factor in the baseball playoffs. As such, the team will give him time to get better. As for the fantasy playoffs, fantasy players who roster Smith are in luck, since the catcher position has never been stronger.
Kansas City Royals – Team Update
#Royals will start Michael Wacha on Tuesday night against the Seattle Mariners at Kauffman Stadium.
Cole Ragans will follow on Wednesday. And the Royals still haven't announced a starter for Thursday.
— Jaylon T. Thompson (@jaylonthompson) September 14, 2025
The Royals get some good news here with both Michael Wacha returning tomorrow and Cole Ragans returning on Wednesday. They have an outside shot at a Wild Card spot, so every game matters down the stretch. Here’s to them putting their best foot (and arms) forward.
Carlos Estevez – RP Kansas City Royals
Carlos Estévez left today’s game with mild back tightness. Precautionary. Estévez said he was fine with coming out of the game because of the situation but he’s pitched with worse. So, sounds like he’s all good.
— Anne Rogers (@anne__rogers) September 14, 2025
A positive report here, so it doesn’t seem like Estevez will miss significant time, if any at all. However, it’s par for the course for the Royals, who seem to always need to take one step back for every step gained, fighting the injury bug to major pieces of the puzzle all season long.
