Here I am again giving you some must-stash advice for the weekend. The waiver wire probably seems light to a lot of people, but it is not. There are some very good options out there at quarterback, wide receiver, and tight end specifically. Running back is a little sketch,y but I like a couple of players there as well.
You know the drill, right? Usually, I tell you to add these guys BEFORE we get through the weekend, and they become part of the Waiver Priority for Tuesday. You get to make an addition for free today. That’s right, for a small price of 10 minutes of your time reading this article, you too can add a player for free today. Zero cost to you, all upside, for free. Read this, then run to the waiver wire, do it, do it, do it right now.

Week 6 Weekend Waiver Wire
Quarterbacks
Sam Darnold, Seattle Seahawks
In the three games Darnold played against defenses that were weak against the pass, he has passed for multiple touchdowns each time. That includes a 4-touchdown, 341-yard game in Week 5 against the Buccaneers. As a streamer, he has the Jaguars in Week 6, and they are also bottom 10 at defending the pass. Lock and load Sam up.
Mac Jones, San Francisco 49ers
Mac Jones has topped 280 yards or thrown for multiple touchdowns in every game this season. In Week 6, he plays a Buccaneers team that Sammy boy above torched last week (you can find the stats in the second sentence in the paragraph above). If you need a streamer, I love Mac Jones this week.
Other quarterbacks to consider:
Jaxson Dart, New York Giants – 195 yards, 58 yards rushing, 2 TDs
Bryce Young, Carolina Panthers – 198 yards, 2 TDs
Quarterback Notes: I would gladly stream Darnold, Jones, or Young this week if I needed to. Last week, I had Jaxson Dart in this column, and he is only rostered in 30% of leagues, so I felt a need to mention him again after his Thursday Night game against the Eagles. Yes I know you can’t get him until Tuesday, but put the claim in now.
Running Backs
Kimani Vidal, Los Angeles Chargers
You can put Hassan Haskins name here if you want. No idea how this will play out. Chargers Offensive Coordinator Greg Roman says both running backs will factor in, and neither is the lead back. Thank you for being so reassuring, Greg. We truly appreciate it. I am avoiding both guys; I just felt you needed to hear it.
Kendre Miller, New Orleans Saints
Miller’s snap count went up again in Week 5 to 39%. He keeps getting more snaps and touches. Kamara has had 2 limited sessions this week, but is dinged up. It appears it may be time for Miller in New Orleans.
Other running backs to consider:
- Kenneth Gainwell, Pittsburgh Steelers – 19 carries, 134 total yards, 2 TDs, 6 receptions
- Kareem Hunt, Kansas City Chiefs – 77 carries, 5 total yards, 1 reception, 2 TDs
Running Back Notes: I mentioned the Chargers running backs out of pure need, but I am not really interested in either unless you are very desperate. Hunt and Gainwell have value today, and Miller may as the season wears on. I would add Kareem Hunt out of these four, even with his limited touches.

Wide Receivers
Kendrick Bourne, San Francisco 49ers
In Week 5, Mac Jones targeted Bourne 11 times. Kendrick turned that into 10 receptions for 142 yards. Looks like Ricky Pearsall and Brock Purdy will be out again. Plug and play for Week 6.
Tory Horton, Seattle Seahawks
Are you kidding me, Reedy? I am not. In games in which he has at least four targets (the most he has so far), Horton has scored a touchdown each time. So if you are in a deep league and you need help, Horton is a fairly decent desperation play against the Jaguars in Week 6.
Tyquan Thornton, Kansas City Chiefs
Thornton leads the Chiefs in receiving yards and touchdowns this season. Somehow, he is only rostered on 20% of the teams. Make it make sense to me; please someone. Thornton looks like the wide receiver Mahomes needed as a deep threat. I know Rashee Rice is coming back, but he is not a deep-ball guy. At least take pity and play the guy in Week 6.
Other wide receivers to consider:
- Sterling Shepard, Tampa Bay Buccaneers – 5 targets, 4 receptions, 24 yards, TD
- Tre Tucker, Las Vegas Raiders – 6 Targets, 4 receptions, 62 yards
Wide Receiver Notes: With Mike Evans and Chris Godwin out, Shepard will have some value this week. Tre Tucker is looking more and more like the top option in the Raiders’ horrible offense, but the matchup is right in Week 6. Horton is a nice add in deeper leagues with potential to grow his role. Bourne and Thornton are the two guys you can play in Week 6 with some confidence.
Tight Ends
AJ Barner, Seattle Seahawks
In the last two games, Barner has a total of 3 touchdowns. We need to start paying attention to him. In Week 5, his stat line was targets, 7 receptions, 53 yards, and 2 touchdowns. This position has been a poison on many teams this season. Take a chance on Barner.
Mason Taylor, New York Jets
In Week 4, Tyler saw 7 targets. He turned that into 5 receptions and 65 yards. In Week 5, he saw 12 targets, which he turned into 9 receptions, 67 yards, and a two-point conversion. Taylor may actually be a long-term solution for you at tight end if you are needy.
Other tight ends to consider:
- Jake Tonges, San Francisco 49ers – 11 targets, receptions, 41 yards, TD
Tight End Notes: All three of these tight ends are plug-and-play for Week 6. Taylor looks to have the most long-term value, followed by Barner. With George Kittle still out, Tonges is just a great play for Week 6 against the Buccaneers defense that gives up the 10th most fantasy points to opposing tight ends.
