Injury Notes for Week 15
Cade Otton, Tampa Bay Buccaneers
A Thursday game, especially late in the season, is never ideal from an injury recovery situation. To begin the week, Cade Otton didn’t practice on Monday or Tuesday, so there’s currently some doubt regarding his status for Thursday. If he’s sidelined, then Payne Durham steps in from a tight end perspective. However, the Buccaneers will likely look elsewhere.
Kyle Pitts, Atlanta Falcons
It’s also a short week for Kyle Pitts and the Atlanta Falcons, so it makes sense that he’s been limited in practice. However, the fact that he’s been on the field lends itself to the belief that Pitts will take the field in Week 15 without issue.
In fact, Pitts is in a favorable situation as Drake London is expected to be sidelined once again. Over the past three weeks with London out, Pitts has excelled with 15 catches for 197 yards. While he didn’t find the end zone, everything else has been there for Pitts and that should continue in Week 15.
Elijah Arroyo, Seattle Seahawks
After leaving last week’s game with a knee injury, it doesn’t appear that Elijah Arroyo will be ready to go for Week 15. Ultimately, that should lead to an increased workload for AJ Barner in what’s a good matchup.
Zach Ertz, Washington Commanders
Unfortunately for the veteran tight end, he’s sidelined for the year with a torn ACL. That means John Bates steps into the starting role, but after not being targeting last week, it’s unclear how much fantasy value there is to be found.
Tight End Notes
Tyler Warren, Indianapolis Colts
The season-ending injury to Daniel Jones puts a serious dent in the upside of the Indianapolis Colts’ offense. Whether it’s Riley Leonard, dealing with knee injuries, or Philip Rivers, who hasn’t played since 2020, under center in Week 15, things are going to be challenging for the Colts.
And those challenges will be passed on to Tyler Warren. Last week, after Jones exited, Warren finished with just two catches for 15 yards on six carries. It would stand to reason that whoever is under center this week for the Colts will lean on the reliable tight end, but we do need to downgrade him some. It also doesn’t help that Warren only has four touchdowns on the season, but he does have 60 catches and 699 yards.
Isaiah Likely, Baltimore Ravens
For the second time in three weeks, Isaiah Likely gets to feast against the Cincinnati Bengals. At this point, it’s no secret that the Bengals are downright horrific against opposing tight ends, as they allow the most fantasy points against them.
When Likely faced the Bengals two weeks ago, he caught five of six targets for 95 yards. Last week, Likely followed that up with four catches for 25 yards and a touchdown. Over the past two weeks, Likely has been targeted 11 times as he’s seeing his role increase.
Despite the favorable matchup, Andrews caught just four passes for 47 yards when he last faced Cincinnati. The problem is that it was sandwiched by two games with just one catch for nine yards.
Both Baltimore tight ends are viable options this week as they take advantage of the matchup, but it’s Likely I’m targeting.
AJ Barner, Seattle Seahawks
Another good matchup this week is for AJ Barner and the Seattle Seahawks against the Indianapolis Colts. And with Elijah Arroyo likely sidelined due to injury, that means Barner is in an even better position to produce.
It’s been an up-and-down season for Barner, but he’s had a consistent role in Seattle’s offense. Overall, Barner has 40 catches for 386 yards and four touchdowns. Those numbers continue to climb, and he should carve out a solid role this week.
