Week 15 NFL Survivor Picks

Seriously? Well, that wasn’t supposed to happen. Yes, you say, I should have seen it coming. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers, after a great start to the season, have been playing terribly as of late. But this was a home game against a New Orleans Saints team with just two wins on the season.

Let’s stop right there, though. You know what happened, right? Take those survivor entries and throw them into the garbage. It was my top survivor pick of the week, and yes, I am taking it personally. That’s because it is personal.

My hope, though, is that you skipped over my top pick and went with any of my three other selections in Week 14. Fear not, though, this isn’t the time to stop or slow down. The focus now shifts to the future, so here is who we are considering for our Week 15 NFL Survivor Picks.

Week 15 NFL Survivor Picks

Jacksonville Jaguars vs. New York Jets – Jaguars -13

Brady Cook.

That’s it. While I could, should, and will say more about my number one survivor pick of the week, do we really need to? I’ll say it again: Brady Cook.

By no measure have the New York Jets really been any good at all this season, and that’s putting things mildly. And that’s with either Justin Fields or Tyrod Taylor under center. Through Wednesday, though, neither veteran quarterback was a participant in practice due to injury. That left all of the first team snaps at quarterback to the aforementioned Cook.

Last week, Cook, an undrafted rookie from Missouri, made his NFL debut. It went exactly as you would have expected it to, as he connected on just 14 of his 30 pass attempts for 163 yards and no touchdowns.

Jacksonville has been strong on offense all season, with the ninth-most points, while its defense is just about as strong. With a defense ranked 11th with just 20.9 points allowed per game, it will be tough for Cook to get anything going. The fact that the Jaguars have the best run defense, allowing 82.9 yards per game, will make things even more difficult for the Jets.

Philadelphia Eagles vs. Las Vegas Raiders – Eagles -11.5

The Philadelphia Eagles are on a short week, coming off a short week and an overtime loss in Los Angeles against the Chargers. To make matters worse, it’s now a three-game losing streak for the Eagles.

If there’s ever a week in which the Eagles are going to bounce back, this would be it. The Las Vegas Raiders are now in the midst of a seven-game losing streak, and now they have to travel east for an early start in Philadelphia.

Things get even worse for the Raiders, considering that Geno Smith is dealing with a shoulder injury. At this point, he’s unlikely to start, which means we get Kenny Pickett under center for an offense ranked last in the NFL with just 15.1 points allowed per game. This is the perfect landing spot for the Eagles.

Seattle Seahawks vs. Indianapolis Colts – Seahawks -13.5

The Seattle Seahawks haven’t been tested for the last two weeks. Last week, they followed up a 26-0 victory over the Minnesota Vikings by beating the Atlanta Falcons by an even larger margin: 37-9.

They are in the midst of a three-game winning streak and get to take advantage of their home field this week. This week, the Indianapolis Colts come to town, and it’s impossible to get past their quarterback situation. Daniel Jones is out for the year, and Riley Leonard is dealing with injuries to both his knees. So that means either a less than 100% Leonard makes his first career start or Philip Rivers makes his first NFL appearance since 2020.

What do we think is going to happen when either quarterback has to face the league’s second-best scoring defense?

Houston Texans vs. Arizona Cardinals – Texans -9.5

The Arizona Cardinals have given it their best shot to be competitive this season, but that’s not working too well as of late. To put it mildly, they are outmatched. This week against the Houston Texans, and following a 45-17 loss last week, that will continue.

After the Texans practically knocked the Kansas City Chiefs out of the postseason, these two teams are on opposite ends of the spectrum. Houston takes a five-game winning streak into Week 15 while the Cardinals are in the midst of a five-game losing streak.

Quite simply, this is going to come down to the Texans’ defense. Arizona’s offense has shown the ability to move the ball through the air, but that only translated into the 21st most points in the league at 21.7. That’s not going to work out too well against a Houston team that has the best scoring defense in the league, allowing just 16 points per game.

San Francisco 49ers vs. Tennessee Titans – 49ers -12.5

The Tennessee Titans are coming off their second victory of the season, but they travel west in a tough matchup against the San Francisco 49ers. While Cam Ward has begun to show some improvements, there’s still a long way for the rookie to go. It’s been a rough year for the Titans’ offense as they rank 31st with 15.5 points per game.

San Francisco has dealt with their share of injuries this season, but their offense is ranked in the middle of the pack. Despite being without both Nick Bosa and Fred Warner, the 49ers still have the eighth-best scoring defense. That will be enough to slow down Ward and the Titans.

From the perspective of our survivor picks, it also works in San Francisco’s favor that they are at home and coming off their bye week in a must-win game.
