Week 16 DST Streamers

Last Week’s Stashes: Kansas City Chiefs, Buffalo Bills, Philadelphia Eagles, Dallas Cowboys

Philadelphia Eagles (at Washington Commanders)

Fantrax Rostership: 99% (Other Platforms: 86% – 92%)

The Eagles dominated the Raiders, shutting them out and posting the 2nd best DST performance of the week. If you still have them, hold onto them. If they’re available, they are a priority add.

Marcus Mariota and the Commanders have had some solid showings, even dropping 29 points against the Giants last week. They’re only the 13th best DST matchup in the league, and they’re getting healthier. Mariota doesn’t take too many sacks, but the offense has failed to perform against most of the top defenses.

The Eagles are heating up at the right moment and boast the 6th best defense in DVOA. Stopping the run is still a concern but they aren’t facing an elite attack. Stream the Eagles with confidence as a high-floor DST in Week 16.

Kansas City Chiefs (at Tennessee Titans)

Fantrax Rostership: 95% (Other Platforms: 30% – 57%)

Losing Patrick Mahomes and being eliminated from playoff contention certainly hurts the Chiefs and could keep their defense on the field for longer than needed. The Titans are also not an automatic boom matchup anymore. Tennessee put up 24 or more points in three of their last four matchups, including games against the Seahawks and Browns. Cam Ward has only turned the ball over once in his last 6 games, and has only taken 15 sacks in that span – 2.5 on average.

All of that makes for a shakier matchup than anticipated, but the Chiefs are still worth a look as a DST streamer in Week 16. KC ranks 15th in defensive DVOA and generate pressure on 24.6% of opposing dropbacks, 8th in the league per Pro Football Reference. Ward has been better at avoiding sacks but the Chiefs are still great at pressuring QBs at key moments. That could lead to mistakes from a rookie on a bad offense.

The Chiefs DST is not nearly as bad as the 49ers. While teams have struggled to completely contain Ward and the Titans, there is still value in streaming DSTs against them.

Buffalo Bills (at Cleveland Browns)

Fantrax Rostership: 99% (Other Platforms: 44% – 56%)

Shedeur Sanders looked like he was really clicking just two weeks ago, but he followed up a good game with a real stinker. The Bears continued their turnover dominance by picking off the rookie 3 times while sacking him 5 times. Sanders and the Browns have done well against the Titans and Raiders, but they’ve struggled against the 49ers and Bears.

Buffalo is still dealing with key defensive injuries, and they do struggle to contain rushing attacks. However, the Browns are still allowing the 3rd most fantasy points to opposing DSTs. Sanders is young and raw, and he can still make an impression as the season closes. However, it’s unlikely that he can find enough success this week to sink the Bills DST.

San Francisco 49ers (at Indianapolis Colts)

Fantrax Rostership: 95% (Other Platforms: 44% – 71%)

It’s not great to see the 49ers DST put up a goose egg against the 2nd best matchup in fantasy football. At the same time, it’s not surprising. For the few times I recommended the 49ers as a streamer, I mentioned just how risky they were. San Francisco ranks as the DST28 this season in standard Fantrax leagues, but they were on a bit of a hot streak. The 49ers limited the Browns and Panthers to under 10 points each, and they enjoyed consecutive 15+ point fantasy weeks.

This week presents another juicy matchup against the Colts, but why should we expect things to go differently? While Phillip Rivers looked awful in his first start since 2020, that was against an elite Seahawks defense. The 49ers are much more vulnerable and could let Jonathan Taylor go wild. As always, there is a risk in starting the 49ers but there is a path to success here. The Colts have not been a great offense to stream a defense against this season, but losing Daniel Jones completely changed things. Rivers completed 18 of 27 passes for 120 yards, a TD, and an interception.

There isn’t a lot we can expect a 44-year-old just returning to the game to do, but an elite run game could sink this streamer. The 49ers should be a low-rostered option if you’re desperate and want a great opponent to play against. The Colts only mustered 16 points last week, but Rivers didn’t make enough mistakes to produce an elite fantasy day for Seattle. Things aren’t likely to change for a soft 49ers unit, but the opportunity is there.

New Orleans Saints (vs. New York Jets)

Fantrax Rostership: 45% (Other Platforms: 10% – 20%)

If the 49ers don’t suit you, could I interest you in something a little spicier? Believe it or not, the New Orleans Saints DST is 19th on the year and averaging 9.5 fantasy points over their last 6 games. That’s an arbitrary cutoff for sure, but they have shown up as the schedule has gotten lighter.

That stretch included two games against the Buccaneers, as well as a game against each of the other division rivals – the Panthers and Falcons. The Saints expectedly struggled against an incredible Rams attack, but they impressed against the Dolphins. Consistently turning the ball over and getting to the QB has been keeping the Saints DST afloat.

This week’s game against the Jets could be their juiciest yet. New York still doesn’t know their QB is yet, but Brady Cook could make his 2nd career start after throwing 1 TD and 5 INTs on 63 pass attempts. Perhaps Justin Fields or Tyrod Taylor get healthy, but they haven’t exactly found success this season. The Jets QBs as a whole have thrown for 13 TDs and 11 INTs while getting sacked 50 times. The Saints are a sneaky streamer against an awful Jets team.

Playoff DSTs to Stash – Week 17

  • New England Patriots (at New York Jets)
  • Detroit Lions (at Minnesota Vikings)
  • New York Giants (at Las Vegas Raiders)
  • Pittsburgh Steelers (at Cleveland Browns)
  • Dallas Cowboys (at Washington Commanders)
