MLB Injury Report – Three Hamates A’Healin’

Welcome to the Fantrax MLB Injury Report for Saturday, March 7, 2026. In today’s edition, we get a closer look at the progress of the three players with broken hamate bones. Corbin Carroll continues to impress, Francisco Lindor continues to mostify, and Jackson Holliday continues to chug along. All of that and so much more in today’s MLB Injury Report from Fantrax.

What?! Your fantasy baseball league wasn’t hosted on Fantrax last season? Preposterous! Check out what the Fantrax MLB Commissioner has to offer and we think you’ll be singing a different tune for the 2026 MLB season.

MLB Injury Report

Merrill Kelly – SP Arizona Diamondbacks

Torey Lovullo has said that he doesn’t know if Kelly will be ready for Opening Day, and has made mention more than once that he will know more once he throws this live BP session. That’s another way of saying that tomorrow’s session will be a big one.

Corbin Carroll – OF Arizona Diamondbacks

Carroll has had nothing but positive progression since he’s been out with his hamate injury. The latest here had him taking a live BP session and feeling great afterward. He will still need to feel good later today and beyond, but it’s looking more and more like he will be ready for Opening Day. Despite that lofty projection of playing in ten games before Opening Day, it’s very well possible he plays in seven (as an example) and still makes the Opening Day lineup. It feels like he is a 90% lock to be ready.

Francisco Lindor – SS New York Mets

Lindor is more of a mystery in that we haven’t seen his step-by-step recovery process as public as we have with Carroll. That said, sometimes no news is good news, and as such, he continues to check off the boxes that the Mets have placed in front of them for him to achieve. Perhaps it’s because he is the oldest veteran of the three who fractured the same bone that he may quite possibly be the most prepared. Whatever the case may be, he feels like a 51% lock to be ready for Opening Day.

Jackson Holliday – 2B Baltimore Orioles

This happened yesterday, and a day before this, Holliday was swinging a bat in the cages. He continues to make steady progress to full health, but it’s already been determined that he will start the year on the Injured List. As mentioned with Lindor, perhaps age and experience have more to do with Holldiay’s eventual delay to the season.

Kyle Stowers – OF Miami Marlins

If all goes well with this, we may well see Stowers in action sooner, rather than later. His original one-to-two week timeline for a recovery seems to be on track.

Jung Hoo Lee – OF San Francisco Giants

This is a team’s worst nightmare, seeing their players go out there in exhibition games and get themselves injured. No team wants to be down a man before the season starts. Chances are, Lee takes it slowly here and doesn’t return until he is 110% sure that he is healthy again. Depending on how long Kore plays in this tournament, he may not get the at-bats needed to be ready for Opening Day. That said, there is no belief that he won’t be fine sooner, rather than later.

Rafael Devers – 1B San Francisco Giants

Devers has been out of action for over a week now with an injured hamstring. The initial diagnosis was that this wasn’t a serious injury and that he would be able to get back on the field shortly. The team has been taking things slowly, and it would appear that he will be back in the next day or two. He is not the most athletic athlete around, so any injury is worrisome. That said, this one looks to be all but over.

Gerrit Cole – SP New York Yankees

Cole has had himself a terrific spring. It’s everything that the Yankees and fantasy managers would have wanted to see. Not only is he topping out at almost 98 miles per hour, but he is maintaining his velocity and now sprinkling in breaking balls. The hope was that he would be able to get into a Spring Training game before all is said and done. It remains to be seen if that actually happens, but he is well on his way.
