MLB Injury Report
Corbin Carroll – OF Arizona Diamondbacks
Corbin Carroll is out of the lineup today. He is dealing with what he says is a minor hip thing he felt on his triple yesterday. Says it’s not serious and doesn’t expect to miss much time.
— Nick Piecoro (@nickpiecoro) April 9, 2026
This is something to monitor, as Carroll will miss what is hopefully a short amount of time with a hip injury. It could very well just be one of those things that he aggravated while running, and it felt a bit off the day after. It could also be something that he tweaked as a result of not having much of a Spring Training build-up. We don’t know too much, but his returning today would be just as surprising as his missing the entire weekend. It’s an unfortunate development. Stay tuned.
Juan Soto – OF New York Mets
Juan Soto (calf) has been swinging a bat indoors and playing catch, but he's not close to beginning a running program. He'll continue to participate in light baseball activities while he heals.
— Anthony DiComo (@AnthonyDiComo) April 9, 2026
From potentially just missing a day or two to moving to the Injured List, now we have learned that Juan Soto isn’t even close to beginning to run, which is somewhat concerning. The original diagnosis was for him to miss two or three weeks’ worth of action. He is less than a week into this injury, so it’s not overly concerning, but it’s noteworthy that he’s gone from a level of potential return to the complete opposite.
New York Yankees – Team Update
Gerrit Cole is scheduled to face hitters in Hudson Valley on Sunday, Aaron Boone said.
No next step for Carlos Rodón has been determined yet. He threw 40 pitches in his bullpen yesterday. #Yankees
— Gary Phillips (@GaryHPhillips) April 9, 2026
This is great news for both pitchers. With respect to Gerrit Cole, he will face live hitters, which is a significant step forward. Sure, he’s been in games, but having this date on the calendar gives direction to a potential ETA. He may only need one or two live bullpen sessions before embarking on a rehab assignment. As for Carlos Rodon, having him throw 40 pitches is a great sign, given that he’s gone through some discomfort and setbacks in his hamstring. If he feels good after this session, he may be ready for a live bullpen session himself, or, better yet, a rehab assignment.
Kyle Stowers – OF Miami Marlins
Alluded to this in yesterday's stories but #Marlins broadcast officially announced that Kyle Stowers will begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Jacksonville tomorrow.
Saturday off, then back on the field Sunday
— Christina De Nicola (@CDeNicola13) April 9, 2026
Stowers is on his way back and will begin a rehab assignment today. In case you missed it, he’s been taking reps at first base and will likely see playing time there upon his return. That’s great news for fantasy managers, as multi-positional eligibility is like a cheat code to success within the realm of fantasy baseball.
Hunter Goodman – C Colorado Rockies
#Rockies C Hunter Goodman left tonight's game with a right middle finger laceration after being hit by a pitch in the sixth inning
— Thomas Harding (@harding_at_mlb) April 10, 2026
Goodman was in a considerable amount of pain after taking a fastball to the finger last night. He was sent for X-rays, and they came back negative, so it would appear that he avoided a fracture. We’ll likely get updates later today on how he feels closer to game time.
Brent Rooker – OF Sacramento Athletics
Brent Rooker left the game with right flank discomfort, per A's.
— MartÃn Gallegos (@MartinJGallegos) April 9, 2026
The flank is located around the oblique area, meaning that this could very well be a long-standing injury. If treated like the oblique, it can be tricky to overcome, as any actions that are done too soon or abruptly could trigger a reaggravation or make the issue more severe. Fantasy managers would be wise to find an alternative solution to this problem, as his absence puts a big hole in the lineup. He is undergoing imaging today to determine the severity of the situation.
Cole Ragans – SP Kansas City Royals
Just spoke with Cole Ragans, who said he feels fine today. Expects to make his next start.
From yesterday: https://t.co/UH61fBkWq6
— Anne Rogers (@anne__rogers) April 9, 2026
Great news, as there was legitimate fear for the worst after seeing Ragans get struck on the hand with a comebacker. It’s unclear if he will get bumped up to a quicker or later game, or maintain his spot in the rotation, given how short his outing was. Regardless, Ragans’ managers can breathe a giant sigh of relief.
Trey Yesavage – SP Toronto Blue Jays
Trey Yesavage’s rehab start is over with Dunedin:
2.2IP 4ER 6K 1BB (52 pitches, 34 strikes)All 4 of those runs came in his 1st inning, on a string of singles.
More importantly, Yesavage’s velocity held and command was solid. We'll find out #BlueJays' next steps tomorrow
— Mitch Bannon (@MitchBannon) April 9, 2026
Yesavage is up to 52 pitches and was seemingly able to maintain a reasonable velocity. It’s unclear how many more appearances he will need before getting to make his 2026 debut with the Blue Jays. That said, if there’s a team out there that needs starting pitching, it’s Toronto.
Parker Meadows – OF Detroit Tigers
Meadows got up and was sitting on the cart as he was taken off. Replay showed collision to the head. https://t.co/5vvb27LDBd
— Jason Beck (@beckjason) April 9, 2026
This was a nasty-looking collision that could have some serious ramifications if the injuries to the head are severe. Seeing anyone carted off is scary, and this was no different. He was officially diagnosed with a concussion after having bled a lot. He was held overnight at a local medical facility for observation.
