Gameweek 27 Waiver Wire Targets
Here we outline Fantasy EPL Gameweek 27 Waiver Wire Targets that are 40% rostered or below on Fantrax.
Joel Veltman
Position: Defender
Team: Brighton
Rostered: 30%
Next Fixture: Leeds (Away) & Crystal Palace (Home)
Prospects: Given a surprise benching this past GW, Veltman was quickly subbed on when Tariq Lamptey went down. And he proceeded to score a goal, bag a clean sheet, and deliver a nearly 20-point haul. Some of your league mates may have dropped him over the weekend when his name did not appear on the team sheet. Their loss is your gain, as Veltman and the Seagulls have a tasty double gameweek this week against struggling Leeds & Palace. They also have another attractive DGW in GW29 (after blanking in GW28). He is a great asset to have over the next few GWs.
Verdict: I would use a low-end waiver claim or 0-3 FAB to get him.
Ainsley Maitland Niles
Position: Midfielder
Team: Southampton
Rostered: 3%
Next Fixture: Manchester United (Away) & Brentford (Home)
Prospects: I never thought I would tout Ainsley Maitland Niles but here we are. In fact, this spot was going to his teammate, Carlos Alcaraz, but then he had to go and get himself injured. But AMN isn’t a bad alternative. The Right Back who always had dreams of playing in the midfield is – surprise, surprise – back to playing Right Back for the Saints. And he has actually been playing pretty well in real life and posting decent fantasy points. He is averaging 7 points per start in his last 4 games and just dropped a 9 pointer this past GW. While these scores don’t usually warrant a roster spot, AMN has a DGW this week, and if he gets you 14 over 2 games, you’re happy. So he’s worth a one-week punt.
Verdict: I would use a low-end waiver claim or 0-3 FAB to get him.
Reiss Nelson
Position: Forward
Team: Arsenal
Ownership: 2%
Next Fixture: Fulham (Away)
Prospects: Be still, my heart. Coming off the bench and scoring the goal of a lifetime – a worldie in the last seconds to win a 3-2 thriller for the league leaders – Reiss Nelson is back doing Reiss Nelson things. In his two appearances (his 1-minute cameo v Wolves doesn’t count) in the EPL this season, both off the bench, he scored 3 goals, picked up 2 assists, and dropped a mouthwatering 62 points. But will he ever get a start? Well, this may be his time. Fully recovered from a knock that kept him out for months, he should be next in the pecking order if Trossard & Nketiah don’t make it back from their respective injuries in time for the Fulham game on Sunday. Have some cover as he is still not a lock to start but Reiss Nelson is an exciting, high-upside option this week.
Verdict: I would use a low-end waiver claim or 0-3 FAB to get him.
