Top-500 Fantasy Baseball Rankings for 2024: Draft Day Update!

Needless to say, quite a bit has happened since my last fantasy baseball rankings article. Hell, a lot has happened since I started putting together this update last week. Gerrit Cole and Devin Williams have gone from top-two picks at their respective positions to players that I will no longer be drafting. Major League Baseball suspended Reds prospect Noelvi Marte for 80 games for PEDs, largely crushing his 2024 breakout potential. Several prominent free agents still inexplicably remain unsigned. And there have been countless other injuries to monitor as players ramp up activity before Opening Day. “Draft early”, they said. “It’ll be fun”, they said.

Not all of the news is bad. Fantasy studs like Ronald Acuna and Aaron Judge seem to have avoided major issues after suffering their own injury scares. It looks like both will be good to go for Opening Day and should continue to carry fantasy squads. Many players have seen an increase in their fantasy draft stock throughout Spring Training. It has certainly been a banner month for prospects named Jackson. The Jackson trio of Chourio, Holliday, and Merrill are all poised to make an immediate impact in 2024. My tendency is not to overpay for rookies, but it is hard not to be excited about the potential for this group, as well as some of the other top prospects from around the league. After all, hope springs eternal, especially at this time of year.

My updated Top-500 fantasy baseball rankings are designed to capture Roto value for 5 x 5 leagues using Fantrax default roster settings. Please keep that in mind and adjust to your league specs as needed. For example, I can almost guarantee that Adley Rutschman will not be available in a two-catcher league draft where I have him ranked. That goes for a majority of catchers as well. Similarly, if you are in a league that rewards positional flexibility, you may want to bump up some of these players a few spots. So without further ado, here are my updated rankings. Use them wisely and best of luck to all this season!
