EPL Fantasy Draft Tips
Know your league!
- What are the general rules of the league? How many players can you roster? Are there limits on positions, teams, total players?
- What is the scoring system? Fantrax has a default points system, but many leagues may make adjustments. Know what stats earn you and your team points.
- What are the rules for the draft itself? How long will you have to pick? Is it a snake draft? What happens if you get logged out? Are there auto-draft settings?
Come prepared.
- You should have at least your top 50 players (5 rounds) ranked for your EPL Fantasy Draft. Surprises happen in each draft, but with your top 50 players ranked, you’ll be prepared for whatever comes. For the top 5 picks, I’m simply picking the best players available. After that, I’m filling spots positionally and mixing safe picks with some higher-risk/rewards players. (LINK TO RANKINGS)
- You need a strong sense of players you do and don’t like. Teams you do and don’t like. And a general sense of how you’d like your draft to shape up.
- Plan for squad rotation in later rounds if possible. For example, having Gabriel Martinelli can be good, until he doesn’t play, then having Leandro Trossard is his likely replacement and a quality player. The same is true for Jack Grealish/Doku, and Diego Jota for Darwin Nunez, etc.
Stay in the know.
- Be up to date with transfer/news to avoid drafting an outgoing player to another league. There’s nothing worse than using a high pick in the EPL Fantasy Draft on a player who ends up transferring out, or missing out on players new to the league.
Pick with your brain. Not your heart.
- This is easier said than done. Most EPL fans are diehard supporters of a single team, which also means they are diehard detractors of a set of teams (and players). Don’t let this cloud your judgment too much. If you’re trying to win, pick the better players, even if it hurts a little.

- This should really be number one. But it’s more fun when you’re winning and being successful. Pick well! Good luck!
