The 2024 season didn’t go as planned for the Minnesota Twins. They were having a good year and were in fighting distance of first place in the AL Central deep into the year but a late collapse left the team out of the playoffs. There will be some decisions to make for the Twins heading into 2025, but there were positive takeaways. From a prospect standpoint, the Twins had several big names debut, including Brooks Lee, Austin Martin, Zebby Matthews, David Festa, and others.

In terms of what is left, Minnesota was able to restock with five top 100 picks in the 2024 MLB draft, giving them some fresh talent. There is a lot of talent at the top of the farm system, particularly with the bats. In general, the Twins tend to favor power over hit from their hitters, which can be a tricky thing to navigate in dynasty leagues. The pitching has some upside, but a lot of risk.

Minnesota Top 20 Fantasy Baseball Prospects

1. OF Walker Jenkins, Age: 19

It should come as little surprise that Walker Jenkins tops the Twins prospect lists. He’s easily a top 10 prospect in the game and arguably top 5. In 2025 Jenkins will enter his age-20 season, likely starting at Double-A. He ascended from Single-A to Double-A over the course of the 2024 season, and that includes missing time from early April to late June with a hamstring injury. Across all levels, he slashed .282/.394/.439 with 6 home runs and 17 stolen bases with a strikeout percentage in the teens and a walk percentage over 10. The hitting ability and plate skills are there in spades. He projects to add more power, too. He looks every bit like a future perennial high-round fantasy draft pick for redraft leagues. In dynasty, his value should be up there with the rest of baseball’s best prospects.

2. 2B Luke Keaschall, Age: 22

The Twins 2023 2nd rounder has done nothing but hit since being drafted. In his first 490 at-bats as a professional, Keaschall is hitting .300 with 18 home runs and 34 stolen bases and already reached Double-A. His profile is hit-over-power, but if he can provide a handful of long balls along with a good average and steals, that makes him a high-level contributor in fantasy leagues. Not to mention he’s played first base, second base, third base, and centerfield professionally. He’s mostly been at the keystone or in center, but there is potential multi-position eligibility on the horizon. Keaschall has done nothing but hit and with his ability to produce in so many categories, and potentially play all over the diamond, there’s a lot to think about when it comes to his fantasy value.

3. OF Emmanuel Rodriguez, Age: 21

Emmanuel Rodriguez is a must in OBP-centered fantasy leagues with his walk rate over 20 percent. He gets on base. They may need to remake Moneyball, except instead of showing Kevin Youkilis, they just show Rodriguez’s Fangraphs page. That being said, there are times Rodriguez could stand to be a little less patient. There is sometimes a feeling that he goes up to the plate looking to walk rather than looking to hit. He hit .280 with 9 home runs and 9 steals across 4 different levels in 2024. He ended in Triple-A where he slashed .217/.400/.348 in a very small sample of seven games. Buyer beware, while Rodriguez can draw walks with the best of them, there may be a slow transition to big league pitching if his approach is walk-first.

4. SS Kaelen Culpepper, Age: 21

The Twins took Kaelen Culpepper 21st overall in 2024 out of Kansas State. He’s a hit-first profile, but he still provides power. His reputation is as a player who can make a lot of contact and spray the ball all over the yard. Culpepper’s fast hands and compact swing help him to get the bat to the ball regularly. Defensively he is a shortstop right now, but he’s also played a few games elsewhere on the infield. Long term, he may wind up at third base. If he can get better at punishing mistakes over the wall, then he’s going to be extremely valuable for fantasy baseball. As it stands now he projects to contribute in average and steals, and he’ll still add some home runs to the mix.

5. RHP Charlee Soto, Age: 19

High school pitchers are the riskiest group of prospects to take a chance on for fantasy baseball. The Twins selected Charlee Soto out of high school 34th overall in 2023 and he posted a 5.23 ERA in 74 innings at the Single-A level in his first professional season. He also posted a 10.58 K/9 and 4.01 BB/9. While those results don’t necessarily warrant being a top 5 prospect in the organization, Soto has tremendous upside to bet on. He already has an upper-90’s fastball with a heavily used plus changeup and a slider that flashes average. If he continues to grow in the professional ranks he has mid rotation upside. There is a long road to get there, but he has the pure stuff to do so. This is a high risk bet to make in fantasy, but it could pay out big time for those with the patience to wait it out.

6. RHP Marco Raya, Age: 22

Marco Raya has been somewhere on Twins prospect lists for a while now because of his pure stuff. He was drafted as a prep arm in the 4th round of the shortened 2020 draft but didn’t debut until 2022. Since then he’s shown a penchant for strikeouts at every level. He spent most of 2024 in Double-A where he posted a 4.27 ERA and 103 strikeouts across 92.2 innings. Raya finished the year in Triple-A where he tossed 5 scoreless innings while striking out 4 batters. Since reaching Double-A his BB/9 has been north of 4. Raya is likely to start in Triple-A in 2025, where his mid-90s fastball and big slider might be able to lift him to the Twins roster before the season is over. Whether he will be someone who makes a real fantasy impact will depend on if he can use his stuff well enough to generate whiffs on a consistent basis.

7. SS/OF Brandon Winkour, Age: 19

Maybe next in the long line of tall power bats from the state of California is Brandon Winkour. He is listed at 6’6” and hit 14 home runs in the Florida State League, which is notorious for suppressing power. Winkour added 23 steals to the mix, as well. The kicker here is his 28 percent strikeout rate. At 19 years old that isn’t a death sentence, especially when he is still posting a 116 wRC+. There will likely always be a lot of strikeouts, which is fine as long as it doesn’t deter from his ability to be productive. He walked at an 8.3 percent clip, so there is a foundation of strike zone knowledge to build from. This is another player in this system who may have multi-positional eligibility. He played most of his games at shortstop or in the outfield, but he also played 10 games at third base in 2024. For fantasy, there is a potential to help in the power and speed categories, but the strikeouts add some risk to the profile.

8. RHP C.J. Culpepper, Age: 23

By just performance, C.J. Culpepper probably deserves to be higher on this list after striking out 64 batters and walking just 18 with a 3.55 ERA through 58.1 innings across two levels. That included an impressive 2.89 ERA through 37.1 innings in High-A. By all accounts Culpepper looks to be a future rotation arm for the Twins, throwing an array of pitches headlined by a solid fastball/slider combination. In his first two full seasons Culpepper has dazzled in the first half, gotten promoted then struggled at the higher level. In 2023 that second level was High-A, where he started and dominated in 2024. His ability to remain consistent for a full season is a legitimate question at this point. On top of that, Culpepper has more of a real-life upside than a fantasy one. His kitchen sink of pitches and funky delivery may not be able to get consistent whiffs from the talented bats at the highest level. He projects more as a backend arm in real life and a streaming option in fantasy.

9. OF Gabriel Gonzalez, Age: 20

There was a lot of helium around Gabriel Gonzalez after he hit 18 home runs and stole 10 bases while hitting .298 in 2023 with the Mariners organization. He was on pace to end the 2024 season in Double-A, or higher, until back issues caused him to miss most of May and June. When he came back there were some positive signs, but he was not the same player. He ended 2024 slashing .255/.326/.381 with 5 home runs and 5 steals. This can be explained away by lingering issues stemming from his IL stint. If he comes back next year healthier and looking more like the 2023 version of himself, then Gonzalez will shoot right back up Twins prospect lists. Only time will tell, but without the counting stats, his value in fantasy baseball leagues has taken a hit.

10. 3B Billy Amick, Age: 22

The Twins took Billy Amick 60th overall after a standout season for Tennessee. His first taste of professional baseball ended with him hitting .222 with 3 home runs and a pair of steals in 63 at-bats. In the past, the Twins have really liked to take power-over-hit bats and Amick fits that mold very well. He comes with a reputation of big power that his big, physical swing backs up. While he will punish baseballs, he will also come with hit tool concerns. He struck out only 15 times and walked 12 in his small debut sample in Single-A. Amick will more than likely be met with pitching more at his level in 2025. If he can continue the trend of low strikeouts and big power, then he’s going to become well-known very quickly.

11. LHP Connor Prielipp, Age: 23

At one point Connor Prielipp was projected as a top five to ten draft pick, but then injuries started to enter the picture. His draft stock took a hit after he received Tommy John in 2021, then he became a second-rounder for the Twins in 2022 before requiring more work on his UCL in 2023. All in all, Prielipp has thrown just 30 innings since being drafted. 23.1 of innings came in 2024, where he struck out 48 batters with a 2.70 ERA. While there is some encouragement behind those numbers, there are still many concerns. He’s had two elbow surgeries already, hasn’t thrown that many innings, and his highest level reached is High-A. A full healthy season would go a long way in showing Prielipp’s true value. After all, he has the draft pedigree and he’s posting dominant numbers, albeit in very small sample sizes.

12. 3B Rayne Doncon, Age: 21

Minnesota acquired Manuel Margot and Rayne Doncon just before the start of the 2024 season in exchange for Noah Miller. They assigned Doncon to Single-A where he hit .283 through 38 games before receiving a promotion to High-A. He saw a power uptick, which is typical when leaving the Florida State League, but he hit just .235. Between both levels, he slashed .254/.342/.431 with 11 home runs and 6 stolen bases. He did spend all but one game in August on the IL. There is quite a bit of thump in this profile, which is the appeal for fantasy purposes. Still, he shows a penchant for drawing walks and keeps his strikeout numbers down. More consistent contact would lead to more power output. If he can do that, Doncon can add power to fantasy lineups from a corner infield spot.

13. SS Kyle DeBarge, SS, Age: 21

Kyle DeBarge was the 33rd overall pick by the Twins this year out of Louisiana-Lafayette. He can do a lot of things well on the baseball field, but most of them are on the defensive side of the ball. That makes him more valuable in real life than in fantasy. That being said, if he can hit for a high average then he’ll be able to contribute a high amount of steals, too. After getting drafted, DeBarge had a 26-game stint in Single-A where he slashed .235/.322/.343 with 15 stolen bases. He’s not a power threat and shouldn’t hit many home runs. At his best, he would be able to add some steals and batting average to fantasy baseball lineups.

14. RHP Andrew Morris, Age: 23

There probably aren’t too many players in history who have recorded a complete game and a save in the same season. Or maybe there are. Either way, Andrew Morris added himself to that list in 2024. He made just a couple of relief appearances, starting 24 of the 26 games he appeared in, but one of them gave him a save. Also, his complete game was only 5 innings. Beyond all that is a pitcher who posted a 3.48 ERA through 33.2 innings in Triple-A to close out the season. Morris will attack the zone and averages a strikeout an inning across three levels in 2024. It’s doubtful that he makes the Twins roster out of camp next year, and if he does it might be in a bullpen role. If he can put together another solid year, he should debut in the big leagues before the 2025 season is over. While he might be more of a matchup streaming option, his proximity means he’s someone to look out for.

15. LHP Dasan Hill, Age: 18

The 2024 MLB Draft was a big one for Minnesota, who had five picks inside the top 100. With their fourth pick, the Twins selected a high school lefty named Dasan Hill. He is listed at 6’5”, 165 pounds, and has topped out at 96 MPH. He adds a very good slider to the mix, as well. There is plenty of room on his frame to add, as well. There is a lot to dream about with Hill, but prep pitchers are a risky play. When he debuts in 2025 we’ll know a lot more.

16. OF Yasser Mercedes, Age: 19

The Twins were willing to spend $1.7 million of their international bonus pool money in 2022 to secure one of the top players in that class. He’s a prototypical Twin, in that he specializes in power at the plate. He had his struggles on the Complex in 2023, hitting under .200, but he came back with a vengeance in 2024. Mercedes slashed .331/.421/568 with 6 home runs in 169 at-bats. That was enough to earn him a promotion for a small taste of Single-A, where he hit .125 through 10 games. His offensive game is very raw right now. There is the potential for real power. His defense is already pretty solid in the outfield, and his speed plays. He stole 21 bases in 2024. While still off in the distance, if you squint you can see a legitimate power/speed threat that fantasy managers would love to have on their roster.

17. RHP Cory Lewis, Age: 24

Since being the Twins’ ninth-round pick in 2022, Cory Lewis has thrown 180.1 innings while striking out 210 batters with an ERA of 2.50. He spent the bulk of 2024 in Double-A where he struck out 80 batters in 66 innings with a 2.59 ERA. The numbers stand off the page and he even got one start in Triple-A. Lewis does have a knuckleball, but he uses it as a weapon more than relying on it. It’s a hard, low-80s knuckleball that gives hitters fits. He’s a hard pitcher to really project for fantasy purposes. His stuff is all very average across the board, but he still gets very good results. Lewis will have a chance to see Minnesota in 2025 if he performs well, though he may wind up needing to throw more knuckleballs to continue posting high strikeout numbers.

18. C/OF Ricardo Olivar, Age: 23

It was a very good year for Ricardo Olivar in 2024, slashing .275/.381/.441 with 12 homer runs and 6 stolen bases across two different levels. A large portion of that production came in High-A, where he spent most of the year. Especially as a primary catcher, showing that kind of potential on offense is something to monitor. It’s worth noting he hit only .224 in his short 19-game stint in Double-A in 2024. There are certainly strides that need to be made, but Olivar is an athletic catcher with a little bit of power and speed. His ceiling would be double digits in both categories, but he likely lands somewhere below that at the big league level.

19. 2B Payton Eeles, Age: 24

Payton Eeles has had quite the baseball journey. He was a Division II baseball player before using his extra pandemic year at Coastal Carolina. After going undrafted Eeles played Indy Ball and finally wound up with the Twins. 2024 was his first season in affiliated ball and he played all the way up to Triple-A, where he slashed .299/.419/.500 with 8 home runs and 20 stolen bases in 64 at-bats. It was a great year that might force the Twins to take a real look at him. Where he gets assigned to start 2025 will say a lot. Eeles is undersized at 5′ 5”, but put the bat on the ball and stole bases in 2024. He’s been used all over the diamond defensively. His potential role at the big league level will likely involve utility duties, so multi-position eligibility is on the table.

20. OF Eduardo Beltre, Age: 18

Minnesota was able to sign Eduardo Beltre, a top international prospect in the 2024 international free agent class, for just shy of $1.5 million. He responded by putting up numbers in the Dominican Summer League. While that’s not an indicator of future success, it certainly is good to see from top end prospects. Beltre slashed .326/.453/.618 with 11 home runs and 10 stolen bases. He should be on the Complex in 2025.
