Top 20 New York Mets Prospects for Dynasty Leagues

The New York Mets finished third in the NL East and they are doing everything in their power to do better than that in 2025. Never afraid to spend money, they reeled in Juan Soto for a record-breaking contract. They also bolstered their big league rotation with players like Clay Holmes and Griffin Canning. In this article, we’ll see which New York Mets Prospects are ready to give them a boost in the coming seasons.

The Mets have some very interesting names at the top of their farm system. There’s a good mix of MLB-ready pitching and hitting. Overall, there are a good number of hitters who are hit-tool-oriented. That means they may wind up a better group of prospects in real life than for fantasy purposes. Still, more than one breakout candidate is lurking on this top 20 list.

Top 20 New York Mets Prospects for Dynasty Leagues

1. RHP Brandon Sproat, Age: 24

A standout season with the University of Florida led to Brandon Sproat being a second-round pick by the Mets in 2023. He started his first professional season in High-A and ended it in Triple-A. Across all levels, he threw 116.1 innings with a 3.40 ERA with a 10.13 K/9. Sproat has excellent stuff and showed improved command. When he reached Triple-A he struggled and will likely head back there to start the season. With a fastball that can touch triple digits and great secondaries, Sproat’s upside is as a strikeout-heavy starter who should be ready to debut at some point in 2025.

2. SS Jett Williams, Age: 21

An injury-plagued 2024 season limited Jett Williams to just 33 games. Most of them came in Double-A where he hit .172. He’s already registered a few at-bats in Triple-A as he enters his age-21 season. At different times during his career, he’s played second base and centerfield, giving him defensive versatility that will come in handy considering shortstop for the Mets is accounted for by Francisco Lindor. A healthy Williams will be able to steal bases while drawing walks and hitting for average and some power.

3. 2B Ronny Mauricio, Age: 23

The long journey that was Ronny Mauricio’s minor league career started in 2018 and finally seemed like it was coming to an end in 2023 when he played 26 games with New York. His follow-up season ended before it started after tearing his ACL playing in the Dominican League. There are a lot of question marks for Mauricio’s return and it will almost certainly involve spending a considerable amount of time shaking the rust on in the minors. His speed is in question and his place discipline numbers aren’t great, but his power is undeniable.

4. RHP Nolan McLean, Age: 23

The Mets’ third-round pick in 2023 out of Oklahoma State ended the 2024 season in Double-A. On the year between two levels, he threw 109.2 innings with a 9,52 K/9 and a 3.78 ERA. Up until this upcoming season, Nolan McLean had been a two-way player. With a sole focus on his pitching craft, he will start to hone in his arsenal which is highlighted by a mid-90s fastball and a high spin slider. There are some command concerns, but he has the arsenal to grow into a mid-rotation starter if he can find the zone with more consistency.

5. SS Luisangel Acuña, Age: 22

As a prospect, Luisangel Acuña garnered plenty of attention simply because of his last name. His older brother, Ronald Acuña Jr., gave him quite the familial tie to live up to. While the younger Acuña doesn’t have the same ceiling, he did steal 40 bases while hitting .258 in Triple-A last year. He debuted with the Mets as well, hitting .308 with three home runs in 40 plate appearances. His speed is enticing, but there isn’t a clear path to playing time. He’s likely to take on a utility or bench role unless an injury occurs and opens up a spot in the lineup.

6. OF Carson Benge, Age: 22

New York selected Carson Benge 19th overall in the most recent draft out of Oklahoma State. After signing he was assigned to Single-A where he slashed .273/.420/.436 with a pair of home runs and three stolen bases. He showed good patience and ability to walk. Benge’s hit tool may drive his success, but he should be able to hit for some power and steal bases. It’s the type of profile where he can do everything well, but he may not stand out in any particular category for fantasy baseball managers.

7. SS Jesus Baez, Age: 20

During his age 19 season in 2024, Jesus Baez played in both Single-A and High-A, hitting 11 home runs and stealing nine bases while hitting .262. He’s posted good exit velocity numbers, but even more impressive was the fact that he cut his strikeout percentage from over 20 percent to right around 15 percent last season. There is still a long way to go for him to reach his potential, but his offensive ceiling makes him a definite breakout candidate heading into the 2025 season. Baez should return to High-A to start the year but could see Double-A at just 20 years old before all is said and done.

8.  RHP Christian Scott, Age: 25

The arrow was pointing up for Christian Scott during the 2024 season. He split time between Triple-A and the Mets. In the majors, he had a 4.56 ERA with a 7.42 K/9, but his 2.76 ERA and 11.69 K/9 showed the promise of more to come. He throws strikes, never posting high walk rates at any level. Unfortunately for Scott, he received Tommy John surgery in September and will miss all of the 2025 season. That means he won’t be back likely until sometime in 2026 at the earliest.

9. OF Drew Gilbert, Age: 24

Houston selected Drew Gilbert after a standout 2022 season with the Tennessee Volunteers, then traded him, along with Ryan Clifford, to the Mets for Justin Verlander. Gilbert seemed as though he was knocking on the door of his MLB debut in 2024, but injuries and poor performance halted those plans. When he was healthy, he slashed .215/.313/.393 with 10 home runs in Triple-A last year. He’s dealt with Spring Training injuries but is expected to be ready to open the season in Syracuse once again. New York’s lineup is pretty full, but there should be a place for Gilbert to fit in if he reclaims his former performance.

10. SS Elian Peña, Age: 17

One of the top prospects on the 2025 international market, the Mets signed Elian Peña for $5 million. He is lauded for his ability at the plate. Power is projected to be his calling card, but there are great reports about his contact skills as well. There will still be a long time before Peña is contributing to fantasy baseball lineups, but as one of the top international prospects he should be garnering plenty of attention in dynasty baseball leagues.

11. RHP Jonah Tong, Age: 21

Jonah Tong helped his fantasy value quite a bit during the 2024 season thanks to huge strikeout numbers. He did pitch two games in Double-A but spent most of his time in High-A where he threw 85 innings with an 11.65 K/9 and a 3.71 ERA. Tong’s delivery is unconventional which can help his stuff play up against less experienced hitters. He throws crossfire and comes over the top. A funky delivery by itself brings up some reliever risk, which may not be a bad thing so he can live in the upper register of his fastball velo band.

12. 1B/OF Ryan Clifford, Age: 21

While Gilbert is more contact-oriented, the other half of the return in the Verlander trade was Ryan Clifford, who is power-oriented. Last season between High-A and Double-A Clifford hit 19 home runs with a 17.6 percent walk rate. However, his hit tool is a major point of concern. He struck out 29.6 percent of the time and hit just .228. While the walks and power make him an enticing fantasy baseball prospect, it is hard to sustain success as a three true outcome hitter.

13. LHP Jonathan Santucci, Age: 22

Being a lefty who can touch upper-90s with his fastball as well as deploy a big curveball was enough for Jonathan Santucci to be the Mets’ second-rounder in 2024. The southpaw posted big strikeout numbers with Duke throughout his career. He is set to debut professionally in 2025 where he will hope to translate his ability to get whiffs against higher-level hitters. At present, it’s a two-pitch mix, so he will likely need to add a third offering to reach his rotation ceiling.

14. OF Nick Morabito, Age: 21

New York selected Nick Morabito out of high school in 2021 and he has done nothing but hit ever since. In 2024 he slashed .312/.403/.398 with 59 stolen bases, a sub-20 percent strikeout rate, and good walk numbers between both A-ball levels. His speed is his weapon. While power won’t be a huge part of his game, if he can keep hitting and walking at the rate he’s on then his ability to steal makes him a potential game-changer for stolen bases.

15. RHP Blade Tidwell, Age: 23

After putting up solid performances at every level since the Mets selected him in the second round back in 2022, Blade Tidwell appeared to have met his match with Triple-A hitters in 2024. In 85 innings he had an ERA north of five and his K/9 dropped to below nine for the first time at any level in his career. Still, with a mid-90s fastball and an even better slider, there is plenty of reason to believe he will find success when he returns to the level in 2o25. Improving his 5.61 BB/9 would go a long way. There is some reliever risk, but there’s a chance he winds up as a backend starter who can strike people out.

16. OF Eli Serrano III, Age: 21

Power is a stat in fantasy baseball that is hard to ignore and Mets fourth-rounder Eli Serrano III has plenty of potential for that. He was assigned to Single-A for 17 games after being drafted, where he hit .238 with two home runs. Serrano III didn’t strike out a ton and walked at a rate just shy of 10 percent. This is somewhat of an aggressive rank from me because I like his simple setup and hands through the zone. There is a lot of projection and risk, but if he grows into his power he can be a legitimate fantasy baseball threat.

17. SS Jeremy Rodriguez, Age: 18

When the Mets traded Tommy Pham to Arizona at the 2023 trade deadline, they received Jeremy Rodriguez in return. He spent 2024 on the Complex, where he hit .282 with three home runs and 17 stolen bases while striking out at a 17.1 percent clip. While he still has a long way to go, he should get a chance at full-season ball where he won’t turn 19 until July. He’s a hit-over-power prospect who isn’t expected to grow into a ton of pop, but his bat-to-ball skills at such a young age are very encouraging.

18. RHP Nate Dohm, Age: 22

During his final season with Mississippi State, Nate Dohm’s ERA and BB/9 were the exact same number: 1.23. While good on both accounts, that came in just 29.1 innings before an arm injury ended his season. Dohm works with a mid-90s fastball as well as a solid slider as his main offerings. The arm injury complicates things, but he has a deep arsenal and if he can throw strikes at the same rate he did in college then he could outperform his draft position quickly.

19. SS Boston Baro, Age: 20

There are a lot of things that make Boston Baro a good bet to be a big leaguer one day. He’s got an excellent glove and a great hit tool. However, that means he likely is a better real-life player than a fantasy player. In 2024 he played in both A-ball levels, slashing .278/.358/.390 with four home runs and nine stolen bases. Baro doesn’t strike out a lot and walks plenty, but without the counting stats, he may be limited to an average/OBP stabilizer in deeper leagues.

20. OF A.J. Ewing, Age: 20

Over the course of his 2024 season, A.J. Ewing slashed .233/.361/.390 with 10 home runs and 13 stolen bases. He showed good zone recognition with a 16.5 percent walk rate, but his 28.5 percent strikeout rate, and low average, do give some pause. Still, he enters his age 20 season with a chance to make it to High-A before it’s over. While playing mostly in the outfield, he also spent plenty of time at second base.
