MLB Injury Report – The King Has Thrown!

Welcome to the Fantrax MLB Injury Report for Friday, July 11, 2025. In today’s report, Michael King threw his first bullpen, Dylan Crews has taken a big step forward in his progression, Brandon Lowe continues to sit, and Alex Bregman is (going to be) back soon. All of this and so much more in today’s MLB Injury Report from Fantrax.

MLB Injury Report

Michael King – SP San Diego Padres

Mike Shildt begins to discuss King near the end of this interview. King is pain-free and has thrown from the mound, delivering a full bullpen. This is all great news, and Shildt seemed very encouraged about where he is. He threw 91 during today’s bullpen, and while that’s not the greatest output, it’s still significant in that it’s the highest it’s been in a while. This is all great news and something to build on. He won’t be back until August and will need an extensive rehab assignment before returning. At least there’s a light at the end of this journey, and that light isn’t as dim as it was about a week ago.

Brandon Lowe – 2B Tampa Bay Rays

Lowe has missed every game since injuring his side last Sunday. There’s a chance that this becomes a significant injury, hence the abundance of caution exhibited here by the Rays. Last season, he lost extensive time because of a similar injury, and he also has quite an injury history. The team realizes the importance of sacrificing time now to be ready to contribute later. It wouldn’t be surprising to see him play his next game after the All-Star Break. Stay tuned.

Alex Bregman – 3B Boston Red Sox

This is fantastic news, as Bregman’s return should provide a spark to the Red Sox offense. It’s unclear who gets sent down in his place, as it likely would have been Romy Gonzalez before this incredible run.

Lars Nootbaar – OF St. Louis Cardinals

Nootbaar missed time earlier this season with a similar injury, and it wouldn’t be surprising to see him miss even more time here. With the All-Star break right around the corner, this could be the perfect time to give him ten or more days off and get over this nagging injury. That said, these ailments are the story of his career, always resulting in him never truly reaching his full potential.

Los Angeles Dodgers – Team Update

The Dodgers need to feel happy about both of these outcomes, as Blake Treinen and Blake Snell did well to take their first step forward in these rehab assignments. It remains to be seen when they will try again.

Dylan Crews – OF Washington Nationals

Crews was completely shut down for a while, but over the last few weeks, he’s been able to pick up the intensity. While he’s picking up the intensity here, he is still a ways away from actual gameplay, as he needs to do these things without restrictions. In addition to this, because he’s been away for so long, a somewhat extensive rehab assignment may be required to regain his timing and mechanics. It’s fair to question if he will return this month, and a mid-August return seems fair.

Clarke Schmidt – SP New York Yankees’

The Yankees will likely provide an update once the procedure has been completed. Assuming all goes well, Schmidt probably won’t pitch until the 2027 season.
